Why the PS4 is better. The controller is more advanced and more comfortable. Better Exclusives/Free To Free games, More Powerful/Better Hardware,Cheaper Console,PS+ is cheaper and better than Xbox Live in every way. The Hard-drive on PS4 is up-gradable not on Xbox One. PS4 doesn't require PS+ to do simple things like watch netflix or use the web Browser unlike Xbox One's Paywall. XB1 is currently better than ps4, here's why.
-XB1 has the better controller, the ps4 controller looks like something I would give a teething baby, I can't stand those handles.
-XB1 currently has the better games and covered all bases while ps4 is still lacking a solid fighting game and racing game (no one plays injustice) and no one really cares about all those pc ported indies.
-My XB1 is always used, as I watch TV and use other apps.
-Kinect allows me to Skype with family halfway across America and play with my girl and friends on weekends.
-XB1 is more innovative, broadcasting, uploading videos, actual kinect enable game editing software, console and tv navigation by voice.
-XBL is awesome I played in a UK titanfal game lag free, those dedicated servers are awesome. I admit they did have 1 day of problems on launch day, but i think it was more of an xbl sign in issue.

Pretty much look at the top comment bad boy he avoided the main reasons we buy consoles, the experience and games. I doubt the pay wall is an issue seeing as how the #1 game is multiplayer only. Also you can't talk about a paywall and then mention ps+. You mention design and power bricks as a reason ps4 is better than XB1 that is reaching. XB1 is whisper quiet because of design and the brick being external.

Ok fair those are some advantages. They could be ironed out a little but yeah they're great. Share button is used just as much as well as broadcasting. They both share these wonderful social features

It still has framerate issues though not the worst thing ever but there are still problems with it. Bottom line its not locked in 60 frames.

I think the ps4 just seem the only logical choice, "the xbox is the best choice for now" since when did we buy consoles for the next few months?
Yeah the games are a little thin but I'd say that both consoles don't have many games right now because its early in. I didn't find a game last gen that reach my top 5 until 2008 with mass effect, if that happens again it would be 2017 until that happens for this gen, but I can already see amazing games on the horizon; witcher, dragon age, division, destiny, uncharted, halo And I can't wait. People get so angry at which box someone you will never meet buys. As long as you have your friends on your console and the console is doing well why get angry.

I wish people would table this argument. When your battery dies in the ps4 guess what, you now have to go wired. With the Xbox one you have the option to stay wireless or go wired. So despite what you think, what you just said is about preference. If outdated, why do they still exist so widely in other technologies?

This is just one guys opinion. Thats why its called an "opinion piece". No big deal. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. In fact, over 4 or 5 million gamers agree with him. Just like over 7 million other gamers agree the PS4 is the better gaming system.

We can all go back and forth on these forums defending our favorite systems all day, but at the end of the day...we as consumers speak with our wallets the loudest. And at this very moment and for the last several months the chosen preferred console has been obviously clear.

That's what happens when you sit on purchases, the price can go up or down at a moment's notice. I didn't wait, so I got the PS4 for $400 even though I'm in Canada. Online purchases don't have the $5 increase either, so I can just get digital games. There goes the already non-existent price advantage the XB1 was supposed to have according to this article.

sitdown...i've have a ds3 and ds4..no prob with batt at all.
i also have a 360 controller..when i got tired of buying batteries every month i went and got the batt pack....in less than a year..batt back died...seriously. i know for a 100% fact that i'm not the only 1 this has happend too. i'm not downing ms because its a great way to make money...just not my money anymore. if you fear the ds3/4 batt dying on you then buy 1 for 5 bucks and replace it...though its a long shot for that to happen its been 8 years and i never had to replace a batt for a ds.

I'm sorry to say, you have never experienced chatting, or texting on the xbox one. As a owner of both consoles, the Skype Audio Codec sounds crystal clear. Almost as if you're communicating in person.

Texting and Party Chat rooms are better on xbox one as well. These are things that are not subjective, but are facts. You have to talk about the party chat capabilities for the xbox one, in comparison to the PS4. The smart match capabilities is one feature to speak of.

@kickerz I just had to inform you that changing the HDD in the PS4 doesn't require you to open up your whole system. It's only one hatch and one screw and your done took me about 2 minutes to install the hardware and then it's just a matter of installing the software and with the software on a USB stick it takes maybe 15-30 minutes to install if even that.

Just watch one of the many videos on YouTube and u will se how extremely easy it is.

Price increase in Canada really hurt the PS4. Especially when MS did not increase their price.

Makes the XB1 only $50 more expensive but comes with a packed in game and the kinect sensor (PS4 Camera is worth $64.99 if we are comparing).

you misunderstand the point... the whole world can get 100x screwed over by ps4 or msoft pricing- the point is the pricing for a titanfall bundle 500$ while a barebones ps4 is 450$. Its obvious the xbox one has more value than the ps4- doesnèt matter how you cut it. No one is crying over ps4 pricing but guess whatÉ gamers are not idiots and they see the value in xbox one.

In reference to your other comment about batteries as i also own ps3 and 360. ds3 had great battery life- 1800 mah battery and controller only rumbled. 360 controller crapped with official msoft batteries and die just as fast as you described.

Here is where you are wrong though, the ds4 is equipped with a 1000 mah battery and the fact rumble, built in speakers, touch pad and the light bar all waste battery much faster than the ds3, therefore and its no secret the ds4 battery is shit. When i hear gamers having their conntroller last 8-12 hours and then have to go with a short wire to continue playing is a hassle.

The smart thing with an xone is to spend 20-30$ on a 4 pack rechargeable 2300mah energizer or 2800mah eneloop battery and trust me you get an insane battery life (over 20 hours) and when one pair die- pop in the other and you stay wireless, costs more but far more convenient than what you deal with on the ds4. Even gamers who cheaped out and bought 1400mah energizers will get a long battery life than ds4.

Until sony smartens up and offers a battery with a greater charge (atleast 1800mah) the x1 is far more convenient when it comes to controllers (obviously dont buy msoft battery charger packs=shit).

Neon has a point! PS4 is finally in stock now but with this price jump I have 0 motivation to drop the coin for it...especially when, doesn't matter how you sugar coat it, the titanfall bundle is a better choice value wise.

Being a dedicated 360 fan last gen yet still upset over MS's decisions to ditch exclusive games on it I'm still on the ropes about what to get. I'll probably hold out until E3 to see what Sony and MS have planned.

Everyone has their own view of which system is better. In my view that belongs to PS4, but I will not fault anyone for having the opposite viewpoint. Some people appreciate the side features on X1 as well as the Kinect features. Being able to control the system with your voice is also pretty neat. That personally is not what I'm interested in, so I give it more to PS4 for indies and exclusive AAA content.

I love these articles. Its like ppl scour the internet to find articles that make them feel better about a purchase. If you enjoy your xbone, thats great. I enjoy my PS4. At some point, I will probably own both.

That being said, you cant fault the PS4 b/c MS chose to cut their price already. Its a business move that they felt they had to make right now. As far as the controller, the amazing thing is that the dualshock is relevant again. It may not be better than xbone's, but is is definitely as good now. As far as games r concerned, if u r a big shooter fan and dont own a PC, go ahead and buy an xbone for Titanfall. U would probably b better served just playing it on 360 though. PSN+ is hands down a better service...period. The PS4 does not have many exclusives right now...but every multi platform game out now and in the forseable future will at least look and probably play better on the PS4. If u r one that loves mmo's, the PS4 has DCUO, FF14, Warframe, and soon Elder Scrolls.

First of all you don't own the games they provide for you on PS+ the controller is less advanced in terms of using it, it has nothing special about it bar the touchscreen.

1. While you don't own them, you'd still have to pay for them on Xbox. Actually, most of them are not on Xbox.

The controller has a touch interface and still uses 6 axis motion. The X1 controller added rumble, still uses batteries and packs which add to the lifetime cost, and Kinect is a needless $100 price hike.

2. XBL is an antiquated service who's reputation of being superior is kept alive by fanboys. PSN does exactly the same thing as XBL even with the magical server farm. As for more security, you're still clinging to 2011 and that's sad.

3. You could watch Netflix only if you have XBL and everyone with a Smart TV can watch it with one button press. That's a stupid point and not worth the price of Kinect.

4. The PS4 cheap headset is the reason why the XB1 shipped with a headset because you easily forget how when revealed, the X1 had no headset.

Also, I use my Dre Beats that are compatible with my PS4 along with any other bluetooth headset I own while you're stuck with whatever MS tells you you can use.

Seriously dude, hate all you want but if the best complaint you have is that you have to give back the 30 or so games per year once you allow PSN+ to expire, you should do yourself a favor and quit gaming. I've been a member of XBL for 7 years and in that time, I've received like 5 games that were paid for with a subscription from Live so those weren't free and most were crap.

PSN+ is the best value in gaming and without it, you wouldn't be getting those "free" crappy or old games on GWG.

PS4's better design is an empirical truth. First of all, it has a design. The Xbone is just a huge rectangular box which looks like an old Laser disk player. I have the ps4 and the x1 here are my honest opinions of both. the ps4 controller is cool but i like the x1 controller more. it feels more connected to my hand. the sticks are really grippy and i like in addition to the rumble of the controller, the triggers also have pulse motors in them. it provides really great haptic feedback that to me personally is more effective than a tiny speaker that usually startles me more than compliments the experience. I also strongly dislike the bright light on the back of the ps4 controller. not only is it obnoxious (along with the huge power light stripe on the console itself) the reflections i get from it on my tv are really distracting. the battery doesn't seem to last very long either. I do love that its a standard usb cable to charge it though. I

n terms of power the two consoles are comparable. I have infamous on ps4 and it looks badass... but so does Ryse on the x1 and Ryse has way better facial animation even if it only runs at 1600x900. infamous is a much better game though for what its worth.

The hard drive upgrade is a nice option on the ps4 but honestly i had the same option on my ps3 and never did anything with it. I probably won't on this one either. x1 will also soon support external storage so really i can use whatever drives i want.

the power brick on the x1 is a nonissue. it sits behind the entertainment center so as far as I'm concerned, it doesn't exist. on the subject of power bricks though - the ps4 gets very noisy (at least in my set up). the fans are loud.

ps+ is probably a better value than xbox live and i don't agree that ms should make you have a gold subscription to use things like netflix. ps4 has an advantage there for sure.

remote play with vita doesn't at all interest me. nor does owning a vita for that matter.

the voice commands on the ps4 are nowhere near what the kinect can do on x1. for example. i can walk into my living room and just say "xbox on" and it powers up the console, my tv, my cable and my sound bar with that one command. "xbox watch tv" and now I'm in live tv. "xbox watch cnn" and it switches to cnn. all without touching a controller or remote.... speaking of remotes... the xbox one supports universal remotes. I can control mine with my harmony remote and it works great.

the best games for me personally are on xbox right now. ps4 has more 1080p games (for now) but to be honest, aside from second son, my ps4 collects dust. i hope this changes soon with drive club or something. so - the 1080p isn't really affecting my fun on the x1 and its not like the graphics on the x1 titles suck. they pretty much look the same aside from the ps4 being ever so slightly sharper on some.

you also have 0 customizable options on the ps4. the x1's interface is certainly not perfect but at least i can layout apps and games i use frequently, change the colors etc. i dunno. i really do like the ps4 but it just feels more like a souped up ps3. the x1 feels more futuristic. more ambitious. it also gets more of my time. i guess it just matters whats important to you. for me its a blend of good features and fun.

That is entirely not true. You forgot that the PS4 doesn't support DLNA and the only way to stream music and video is to subscribe to Sony Music and other various streaming services. Music Unlimited alone is an additional 10 dollars a month or 120 dollars a year. Compared to the One's built-in DLNA support.
This is disappointing seeing that I myself doused in paid subscription plans to do something as simple as stream my own music and videos from PC.

I agree with about half of what u posted and disagree with the other half. I have both consoles and I prefer the x1 controller but that's just my opinion . But I think the x1 controller seems to be more popular as they sell controllers with the same lay out for a lot of different platforms including playstation. Well I have both consoles and hands down the PS4 wipes the floor with the Xbox One in the graphics dept.
I did get a great trade in deal on the Titanfall bundle at Game Stop believe it or not and it did not cost me a penny.
Titanfall is a very great game yes it has a few faults but all games do on release.
The gameplay is excellent and I highly recommend this game I was rubbish at Halo multiplayer and average at COD but with practice I am getting a great kill/death ratio on this game its so fun.

If a system comes out and doesn't have a years worth of games at launch it's considered to have no games. Generally though, if you exclude indie titles, both systems have roughly the same number of games. It really boils down to if the system has games that appeal to a particular person...at least for the common gamer and not the forum users.

I think people tend to ignore games that are on the console that they want to discredit, so the mentality sticks around for a while. Some people still say the Vita has no games, which hasn't been true for quite a while.

Fixed the Dpad but ruined the bumpers. There's too much space from trigger to bumper.

What they did improve was the comfort of the triggers and I'm baffled as to why no one mentions it. The 360 controller isn't really comfortable for longer gaming sessions because the triggers are stiff and thin. I played through a season of Forza and my fingers about fell off.

The DS4 has superior triggers and are perfectly spaced. The controller is much larger than the DS3 and is by far the best controller available in my opinon. The addition of the track pad has been pointless so far and the speaker weirds me out when it randomly turns on...lol. My biggest complaint with the DS4 is the battery life thanks to the tech that's crammed into the thing. Also, you pretty much HaVE to buy $5 caps for the analog sticks as they wear out pretty fast.

As for placement of the analog sticks, there's no difference in my opinion but I will say your thumbs don't naturally stagger so them being staggered on Xbox is purely cosmetic.

I personally prefer the PS4. The games for it at the moment suit me, and Sony has a track record for support, so I gave them mine.

Forza was about the only launch game that appealed to me, and nothing since has been my cup of tea. Since GT6 came out shortly before the launches I was set for a while on the driving game scene. Some of the upcoming exclusives I'm interested in, such as Quantum Break, D4, and Sunset Overdrive. However if Sony has a lot of support for the PS4 at the time of their release, then I'm still not sure I'll have a need to pick up an X1 then. This is mostly because I highly doubt I"ll get through my immense backlog of PS3/Vita/DS3 recently released games, which could carry me for the next couple years without buying a single game.

Honestly, while I find some of the X1 exclusives fun to play, like Halo or GeOW, I still wouldn't consider buying a console just to play them at home. Some of the upcoming ones are just more appealing to me, and Sony has offered up exclusives similar to that for quite a while now.

Controllers themselves I'm indifferent too. I find them both to be fine and think the argument comes down to what people are used to, since I do notice a difference when picking up an X1/360 controller, but it goes away rather quickly.

I find both online services satisfactory for online play(based on PS3/4 experience and using my friends 360/X1). It's hard to argue the value of PS+ though.

I personally don't buy what my friends play on. I tend to be ahead of them on gaming purchases, so they tend to follow me. OTOH, I don't play online much, so they just get what they prefer, and it doesn't bother us too much. We still play each others consoles when we hang out, so it tends to all work out.

Sony Fanboys are at it again, reporting anyone who seems to like the Xbox One. They hate to hear anything about how Microsoft plans to improve next gen gaming.
The Ps4 is not great, its over hyped and it still has no games. I know people who bought a PS4 and then sold it for a Xbox One. I could give reasons as to why the Wii U is better than the Ps4. I play it more than the PS4.
PS4 really only has a couple things going for it this gen.
Better graphics and over all speed by a very small margin. Oh and indie games because it why we spend 400 dollars on a console. I bought into the hype crap with ghaphics and picked up Battlefield 4 on ps4 and omg the online is crap. The ps4 also would also kick me out of the game, I had to restart the single player game like four time because it was deleting my saves.

I have both consoles. I have owned the PS4 since launch and the XB1 not even 2 weeks. But so far the PS4 wipes the floor with the XB1.

The DS4 is so much better than the XB1 but I do like the triggers on the XB1 controller.

Am not sure if it is a issue with my XB1 or not but to fully install a game from disc it takes about 4 hours. Forza took about 3 and half hours and dead rising about 4. Even getting to 25% install takes about an hour. Where on PS4 it takes what 20 seconds to install and then you can start playing. Installing Killzone completely took me about 30 mins.

Although graphics are not all that important to me. The graphics are noticeably better on PS4. I have MGS GZ on both consoles. Don't get me wrong the XB1 version looks fine but the PS4 version looks a lot better.

PSN is better value for money. Sure it may go down for maintenance every so often. But that only effects the Store. You can still play online. In terms of playing online both are the same. I have never experienced any bad lag on both PSN or XBL except for BF4. But since PSN gives you games every month not only for PS4 but PS3 and Vita as well. In my opinion it is better value for money.

Last thing is I don't like the XB1 UI. I also don't like the fact everything is a app. You want to watch blu-ray movie? You gotta download and open the blu-ray app first. You want to party chat? You gotta open the party chat app. I can't say anything negative about kinect as I have not found a reason to use it. Other than scanning QR codes.

One thing I really like about XB1 is Skype. I like the fact that I can talk to anyone even if they don't own a Xbox. I was talking to a friend the other day who was on his PS4 and I was the XB1. He had his old PSP next to him so was able to talk to me on Skype via that.

The install times depend on the speed of your internet as updates are downloaded during the install.

I own both consoles and the install system is better on the ps4 as you dont have to wait for updates to finish installing before being allowed to play unless you want top play multiplayer.

I do like the xbox one app system though and the Kinect.

Don't get me wrong I think the XB1 is a very good console and am really glad I bought one as I got it dirt cheap second hand.

It can't be my internet as am on Virgin 120mb. I downloaded Killer Instincts within minutes and that was what 5gb? I rather do a quick 2 min install on my PS4 games then download what ever update is required as that also does not take long. As I said I can't say anything bad about kinect as I have only found one thing useful for it and that is QR scanning. My games on Ps4 took 6 hours to install..... The ps4 IU is horrible you cant place your app where you want them... Most of these issues just come down to personal preference. I own both consoles, but I can tell you that right now my XB1 gets A TON more attention. I can tell you that in my opinion, XB1 wipes the floor with PS4 in every area except for two. Right now the hardware for PS4 is easier to work with and more powerful so it is EASIER to reach the 1080p/60fps mark, but even then PS4 can't do both most of the time when it comes to AAA titles (indies are a wash because XB1 can do 1080p/60fps all the time with those as well). However that advantage is almost never noticable (why are you playing the same game side by side on two different consoles?), and if there is another aspect to the game like online, the spec advantage isn't enough to over-rule that. I'd take a better working game that looks ever so slightly less crisp than a sharp looking game that is frustrating to play (in fact sometimes the extra sharpness is off-putting and looks TOO fake i.e. FF14 in 1080p vs 720p). The second advantage that Sony/PS4 is riding is the excellent job they did marketing. As a person that studies marketing I can tell you that despite just not shooting themselves in the foot like MS at E3, they have also convinced a huge wave of mindless fanboys that they are "better gamers" enjoying a "better line up of true first party exclusives" on the "1080p console"...but when you get down to it, no one can ACTUALLY explain why that's true...they just spit out the same garbage they were fed...THAT is excellent marketing. MS has an uphill battle if they want to convince all these people that are already dead-set in their path, but they are taking the right steps, and in a year or so we probably won't be talking about most or any of the gripes about XB1 we have today.

The TRUTH is that neither console is perfect, they both have their ups and downs and they are both just somewhere in the middle. A true gamer would get both (and a Wii U and a PC) if they can afford it...and if they couldn't they wouldn't spend all their time bashing the other just to try and make someone else feel bad about their choice (that's called being bitter). The problem today lies in the fact that people put WAY TOO MUCH stake in their online persona, and can't admit that their online tough guy persona can be wrong and that they don't have to pick sides. (everyone want's to be part of an online console gang for some reason, how about you just belong to the "gamer" club instead?) These debates never happen like this in real life, ONLY online.

So yeah, I love my XB1 much more than my PS4 at the moment, but I am a gamer...so I won't dismiss something just because it says Sony on it. I've loved all my past PS's, this one is just taking longer to grow on me (although the controller is a lot better because it feels more like an XB controller now..still like the XB1 controller A LOT better though). Just play games. Xbox On...go to Titanfall.

It is all opinion, but it depends what you mean by better. The article describes it as a better value where he lives, which is actually true. The whole "PS4/Xbox One has the better controller, exclusives, better servers" are all based on opinion. I do not get why people try to force their beliefs down eachothers throats. I own both, and neither of them get used more than I have been using my 360 and PS3, because neither of them have anything amazing on them right now. My X1 is turned on more, just because it is smooth to move between apps when watching stuff, but really both are great consoles that lack content.
We are all gamers, why do we fight over which thing that plays the game is better and actually enjoy gaming as a whole. This whole thing is what gives people who play games a bad name, because it makes us all look like crying children.

Neither console is better than the other and here is why: (This is in relation to the US market, i have no experience with other regions)

I have both consoles...

- controller is purely personal taste
- xbox has feedback triggers, ps4 has touchpad, both have different buttons/analog sticks
- PS4's graphics hardware is more advanced, but not by a huge noticeable margin.
- Xbox currently comes with a mocap camera with mic for advanced tracking and recognition
- At launch PS4 was cheaper, but now depending on the games you want, xbox is currently cheaper 467$ for a game, year of xbox live, and console with kinect.
- Xbox Live Gold free games currently not as good as PS4
- Xbox Live Gold almost always cheaper, always sales running about 35-40$ per year
- They each have different exclusives, purely personal taste which one you prefer. I prefer the variety with having both.
- PS4 internal hdd upgradeable, xbox will be adding optional external usb 3.0 storage, currently usb 3.0 offers much higher theoretical speed than the internal option in the ps4, but actual benchmarks result in the speeds being comparable.
- Xbox currently has a 1-way DLNA option (playto), PS4 doesn't yet, but both have full dlna in the works, so its a tossup especially if you have a 360 or ps3 already.
- Xbox has Smartglass and Kinect OS integration, PS4 , if you have a vita, allows integration for remote play or extended play experiences.
- Xbox 360 has more robust video capture/editing and twitch experiences, but PS4 allows for full HD screen caps where xbox one currently cannot do screenshots.
- Xbox One integrates to skydrive, PS4 integrates to facebook.
- You need Gold to access some xb1 apps, but since both require gold or plus for multiplayer, this point really only affects the previous generation, unless you don't play any games with friends online.
- Both have ads this time around, they aren't very intrusive on either so if it helps earn money to make a better platform thats fine with me.

The fact is right now both consoles are fairly close in terms of what they can offer right now. Where one person might say the exclusives on the Xbox One are better, another can make just as strong of a case for the PS4's lineup. Honestly, games are the biggest determining factor and it's too close to call at this moment.

Most of the other things are nominal except for small segments of people in which one specific, niche thing might be the tipping point. The PnP-like multitasking on the Xbox One might not work super great right now, but there isn't an equivalent on the PS4. My nephew was down recently and asked me if it had that feature so I could play a game while he watched something on TV or Netflix. This was the first time I had ever "needed" that feature so it's not something that matters to me, but for him and his younger sister it might have been the reason he chose to get an Xbox One.

Now, I chose to get the PS4 for the long term reasons. I have never been letdown by Sony's exclusives for a console generation, and I couldn't chose another platform first because of that. Plus, it's decently more powerful and easier to program for, so multiplatform games will almost always look/run better. Then I took into consideration Sony's relationships with indies and their general approach to game development, and I was secure with more smaller/indie games coming to the platform either from PC ports or exclusive deals like Journey and The Unfinished Swan. The real kicker is PS+, which is a ridiculous value.

That being said, there are perfectly valid reasons to prefer the Xbox One. The TV integration is neat, as is the cohesive OS and some features like multitasking. I care nothing about Kinect, but it does appeal to some and it does have potential. There are reasons.

So all I will say is make a smart decision on what you buy. If you don't think you will own both consoles, at least within the next couple years, then consider the larger picture. If you want both then get whichever one has the games you want to play now.

Exactly that. Backwards compatibility and you're really not even forced to upgrade controllers from the Wii. It's a very economic, budget-friendly console. My fondest memories of gaming almost always happen with Nintendo, bar a few games/franchises. I'm also really happy their online infrastructure isn't up to snuff like the other guys. Sounds strange, but it reminds me and my chums why we're still young adults. We love to get together and throw down like we did back in the 90's. I just love the personal feel of being in the same room.

I've never liked the Dualshock pad, it's clunky and outdated. I was hoping for a much bigger improvement this time round. Before use all argue microsoft is a multi billion organisation for what??? software!! and they have used there software and it's worked across multiple pc's with different hardware!
