To be honest, not a fan of the X1 thumb stick, it's extremely squishy and not nearly as precise as the 360 or the PS4.

Abriael3680d ago

Precision is actually dependent on the mechanics under the sticks, not on the sticks themselves, so changing the sticks won't really influence that.

Mankey3680d ago

Due to the large head on the thumb grip, the force needed to make minute adjustments and dead space from pressing a stick in a direction and the hardware receiving that input, I'd say yes, the hardware is absolutely part of of it.

Dasteru3680d ago

Actually tip surface area, length & convex/concave all effect precision.

NukaCola3680d ago (Edited 3680d ago )

Xbone thumbsticks are way too small but to each his own I guess. I think Sony designed a near perfect controller.

thorstein3680d ago

But this begs the question: If the XBone is "better" why trash an XBone controller to "improve" the sticks on a PS4.

Thehyph3680d ago

I really enjoy the feel of both the ps4 and xbone controllers, but I will say that I think the 360 controller feels better to me than the xbone's.

AliTheSnake13680d ago

Can you put ps3 analog sticks ?
Because i can't stand concave sticks. I'm used to the PS3 ones. I do way better in Competitive FPS on the PS3 convex sticks. My friend told me , maybe it has to do with the way I hold them ?

Dasteru3680d ago

@AliTheSnake1:

You don't have to move your thumb as far with a convex stick, to get the same movement out of the actuator. Once you get used to the higher sensitivity, it is technically superior. The PS3s sticks are also slightly longer than the 360/XBone sticks which also increases precision.

The X1 sticks have better build quality than the PS4 sticks imo, better materials, but they are too small, almost like Vita sticks. They are pretty loose/sensitive too when compared to the dualshock 4. The 360's were perfect, they should have kept those.

Now if only we could mod the X1's triggers onto the PS4 controller........dem triggers.

BEASELY3680d ago (Edited 3680d ago )

I love the rubber back that sits behind the X1 triggers:)

And I had to buy grip-its for both of my PS4 controllers, as I had the problem where the rubber was rubbing off quickly. And when I went on a TF marathon upon getting my X1, the sandpaper-like finish put a massive blister on my thumb after a week.

DeathOfTheFanBoy3680d ago

The xb1 thumbstick is NOT squishy in the slightest.
Sony should have designed their sticks to last in the first place, people wouldn't have to resort to using MS mods....

hulk_bash19873680d ago

I haven't had any issues with my DS4 thumb sticks. I actually find them very comfortable and precise to use. But that's pretty cool for people who want to mod it.

CaptainPunch3680d ago

Actually I felt the opposite with the PS4, not really a big fan of the thumbsticks on it. Don't know why they're so small.

3-4-53680d ago

Pretty cool but should have used 360 sticks.

ground_beef3679d ago

There is a product out there that is basically a thumb stick that you stick over the dual shock 4 thumb stick. It's called kontrol freak ultra. It's a very cool concept and it's selling pretty well too. I think it goes for 15 dollars, not sure though. In the end the guy didn't have to go through all that trouble, just could've bought the kontrol freak ultra.

Pretty cool he did that, I never held the xbone controller yet so can't say if the sticks feel good or not. I got the Orb thumb grips and they work great for me.

Matt6663680d ago (Edited 3680d ago )

the thumb grips are both about the same on both controllers so your not missing much

Bathyj3680d ago (Edited 3680d ago )

Everyone calls it the Xbone. I'm not disrespecting it, I just thought that's what it was commonly referred to as. Don't get all upset over not tapping the space bar.

Dasteru3680d ago

Actually XBone is just shorthand, there is nothing fanboy about it.

It is no different than when people refered to the slim PS1 as a PSOne.

PONTIAC08G8GT3680d ago

I gotta disagree, whenever someone refers to it as xbone I think its a jab at Xbox. Much easier and quicker to type X1 but fanboys and haters started the xbone name.

Tempest3173680d ago

@dasteru

Its not quite the same, as the ps slim design was actually marketed as the psone, by sony. That was the official name of the redesign, and psone was plastered all over the box. MS has never marketed anything as xbone to my knowledge. That being said, I agree theres nothing fanboy/disrespectful about it, and anyone that wants to complain about that of all things is probably just looking for something to complain about

GeofferyPeterson3680d ago

Another awesome story Abriael, Evviva to you!

SniperControl3680d ago

I hate the concave sticks on the DS4, so i bought some DS3 style mushroom caps to cover them, much better.

SniperControl3680d ago

Never had that problem in the first place.

You can also buy mushroom caps with little dimples on them as well for added grip.
