On topic tho, I love boxing, I have alot of family, my brothers all box! Boxing just isnt like it used to be. Unless its famous fighters going at it boxing doesnt have the same appeal it used to..everyone is on the MMA shit! And to be honest. I rather have NFL than boxing. Maybe MS should sign with Golden Boy Promotions.

A they dont have the rights to boxing. They signed a deal with Top Rank Boxing which is one of Boxings biggest promoters. They dont own or run boxing. What could happen is that thwy probably have Top Rank fighters exclusively! Osacr Dela Hoya has Golden Boy and thats also big time. Its definitely gonna be interesting to see how this signing will help Sony!

I watch Boxing and been a participant in the sport since a young age, and of course I ain't the only one who still watches. UFC wishes they have the popularity of a main event Boxing match a la Mayweather or a Paquiao headliner not to mention the revenue.

UFC? Pfft... That's really small compared to REAL football with which Playstation partners with plenty of leagues... Also Playstation partners with some Racing Teams on Rally, Enduro and GT leagues... Boxing is just one more sport partner on that list.

And the article kind of get it backwards... I know NFL is big America, but in the world wide point of view having Xbox as the "official console" for such a sport it's nothing. People don't watch American Football anywhere else. Maybe some on Superbowl, but that's about it... As far as really big sport advertisement you can't go bigger than UEFA's Champion's League and World Cup... And Playstation got both covered in ads (quite literally).

Illegal street car racing is not watched on TV / pay-per-view nor is it legal. If you want to say things aren't even remotely related, why not go for dog fighting...

For money, NCAA players make $0 and some of the games are watched a hell of a lot more than many pro teams.

As for MMA, it's picking up a lot of popularity lately, and it's on TV more often than boxing. Hell, the fights are happening in the US while big names in boxing would rather travel to other countries to avoid US taxes.

Once again, you forget that there is a giant world outside of the US. Football is good...for the US. But, Sony grabs boxing, with worldwide attention. Plus, many of the world football games (soccer for us 'mericans). Oh, and this isn't NEW! Sony has been a sponsor for things like "extreme" sporting events, baseball, basketball, football (world), auto racing, etc. at one time or another. This is just another way to appeal and advertise to a broad base.

Big sport events (especially the worlds biggest) is bound to cause some disturbance. A week ago, a swedish supporter was beaten to death here in Sweden. This happens all over the world, regardless of sport (maybe not curling), but that is only a small percentage of people and it still is the sport that revenues most money and its practitioners make the most money.

Ufc is slowly fading away people i know use to be die hard fans of it and now most fighters have retired or just dont fight anymore. Alot of people now dont even know whose fighting next or even care.
