If true that sucks. But with all the games PS4 is getting this year I don't mind it.Gives time for a more polished product

Abash2240d ago

Days Gone is one of my most anticipated games, but I guess it was the right move to avoid launching near RDR2

I mean Sony definitely didn't need it this year with God of War next month, Detroit in May, and Spider-Man and Dreams releasing later this year. But I still wanted to play it, at least its something to look forward to early next year

darthv722240d ago (Edited 2240d ago )

Delays happen, sometimes for good reasons and sometimes for bad but ultimately things work out. Plus it's no longer a rumor. Sony confirmed it to Eurogamer

Brian76554922240d ago

These are strategic moves and Sony has that luxury since they lead in multiplat sales. It also helps they have enough exclusives to spread out where if one game gets delayed its not a big deal.

Xenophon_York2240d ago

@darthv72—

Good point that sometimes delays can be for understandable and good reasons, and other times ridiculous and wrong reasons. However, things don't always work out.

Scalebound [For example]

darthv722240d ago

Scalebound became a cancellation but, generally speaking, delays (that dont become canceled) do eventually work out.

OB1Biker2240d ago (Edited 2240d ago )

I thought Shu got carried away when he announced it for this year. Usually you see that sort of announcement in a more formal way. In any case I prefer they don't put any pressure on release date and give them the time they need. Days Gone Is my most anticipated game
Only some fanboys or trolls will make a release date a big deal. We want the game as good as possible is all that matters

Profchaos2239d ago

They aren't the only ones even cod won't launch in November this year they choose to launch in October rdr2 will be a huge game

combatcash2239d ago

Man this is a bit of a let down. I was waiting on this and last of us 2. Detroit looks really good so it's gonna have to do til then.

Wasabi2239d ago (Edited 2239d ago )

Agree 100%,

It's a shame Days Gone is delayed, but theres plenty of quality games to play between now and 2019 to keep gamers happy.

Better to delay it than release it near RDR2 ( which will be marketed and treated as 1st party game by Sony ) and Black Ops IIII. It's suicide. I'm fine with that. 2018 is stacked with exclusive games.

For 2019 we will have this :

2019
new MLB
Days Gone
Ghosts of Tsushima
The Last of Us Pt.2
and so on....

So for 2018, they still have:

-God of War
-Detroit: Become Human
-Spider-Man
-MediEvil
-Dreams
-Concrete Genie
- MLB 2018

It's awesome!

Majin-vegeta2240d ago

I don't think Sony has the marketing rights to B04..i believe their contract was for only 3 years and that ended with WW2

Cyborgg2240d ago (Edited 2240d ago )

Death Stranding in 2019 as well. I wouldn't be surprised if Horizon sequel is announced in 2019

butchertroll2240d ago

@Majin

At the end of the BLOPS IIII press release are only the PS trademark informations visible

https://abload.de/img/dxyat...

So, yeah, Sony still has the marketing deal.

AspiringProGenji2240d ago

It’s still a rumor so there’s still hope. If true, then that would suck for Bend studios since this game has been in development for so long. I’ll take a more polished game any day but still...

darthv722240d ago

"We can confirm that Days Gone will now be releasing in 2019," Sony told Eurogamer in a statement, "and we will keep you updated on the launch date."

http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...

TyrellCorp2240d ago

Damn, I was really looking forward to playing this later this year. Blah blah bad game bad, blah blah delay could be good, Early 2019

rainslacker2240d ago

To me, that means that TLOU2 may not release next year. It's hard to imagine Sony would want to pit a new zombie IP game, up against a well loved pseudo-zombie game. Particularly since they both seem to be narrative driven.

OB1Biker2240d ago (Edited 2240d ago )

I understand why people see it that way but I disagree. I think the two games are very different for one thing. Second I think Sony is not worried about it and all they care is that a few months span between the two so they can market them, as for any games
IMHO

Edit there no zombie though if anything, clickers look way more zombie like than Days Gone infected including animals as well

Aura75412239d ago

Sony is not going to pull an EA (EA released Titanfall 2 a week after Battlefield 1 and a week before COD). They will make sure that Days Gone and TLOU2 will be spaced out. My prediction is Days Gone will be released in February 2019 and TLOU2 will be out in June 2019.

Chevalier2239d ago

They could just release Days Gone around March, Ghost of Tsukishima in the summer then have Death Stranding and TLOU2 as their fall releases.

rainslacker2239d ago

It's worth nothing before continuing, that no matter how the baddies are characterized, the average person is going to see the theme as inherently "zombie"-ish. A rose by any other name and what not, and in today's media, "zombie", is a rather all encompassing term to describe less than human antagonist in a post-apocalyptic world(although that last part isn't always a necessity).

Anyhow,

I think the games are different too. But we know in the real world, they're going to be pitted against one another just because they both have a common theme. When something like BOTW and Horizon get pitted against each other because they're both open world, and they're both releasing relatively close to one another, it stands to reason that two story driven post-apacolyptic "zombie" games will be the same. TLOU2 would stand to take too much attention from Day's Gone, regardless of how good Day's Gone may be.

I would think that if Sony does release them both in the same year, then Day's Gone would likely be early in the year, while TLOU2 would be closer to the holidays. However, with Sony's big guns, they have been doing the games earlier in the year, or close to summer for their releases.

In my original comment, I didn't mean to imply it was impossible that Sony would release both in one year. Just that I can see more reason they wouldn't, than I can see reason they would. There is also nothing so far that suggests that TLOU2 will be ready for 2019, as Sony has allowed a lot of it's big games to be pushed back to a later time.

Anyhow, if both come out next year, it's no biggie to me. I'll play both, and I know I'll at least enjoy TLOU2, and DG is looking pretty good since the story trailer they did.

It was probably the smartest thing to do. They have GoW (April), Detroit (May) & then Spider-Man (guessing summer/fall). On top of those they have high profile 3rd party games galore. Why would you throw Days Gone to fight with Red Dead for sales? Hell, overloaded year already I’m good & I’m sure many more feel the same.

_-EDMIX-_2240d ago

I mean I think we all had a feeling this game was a 2019 game.

The game looks fine. Sony has so many games coming that it would be dangerous to launch it in fourth quarter. The first three quarters of the year are when those games should be dropping. If they get the extra time that gives us a greater chance of having a better product.

StormLegend2240d ago

It this comes 2019 it better not be close to the last of us or it's dead on arrival. I really wanted to play it later this year.

Silly Mammo2240d ago

Hopefully they release early 2019, like Sony did when they pushed HZD. The extra couple of months of polish turned out all right.

NecrumOddBoy2238d ago

I see DAYS GONE as a Feb19 release as well. I'm really looking forward to this game. I think it's going to be a really great game.

TyrellCorp2240d ago (Edited 2240d ago )

Normally I’d disagree with you and personally I know I’ll be enjoying both games, but there does seem to be a lot of Days Gone haters for whatever reason.

@Silly Mammo agreed man, a January-February release would be perfect and give the game some room to breathe.

Doge2240d ago

Disappointed, but not surprised.

Days Gone, 5 Years Later

Almost unbelievably, Days Gone has just turned 5 years old after launching on April 26th, 2019. What's changed in that time?

Never say never, I really didn't expect to ever see Space Marine 2 and 12 years later its almost here.
So there is still hope for all these games.

Chocoburger75d ago

I've completed 5 of the games on the list, but the author forgot to include Advent Rising. It was supposed to be a trilogy, but it bombed hard, and the two sequels never got made. It was Mass Effect, a console generation before Mass Effect.

The game is buggy and unpolished, it needed a few more months of development, but the potential was there. At the end of the game, you have all these super abilities, I remember the stomp attack that created a shockwave being especially powerful.

shinoff218375d ago

I personally think days gone will recieve some sort of sequel at some point. I'm personally also hoping it's not the rumored multiplayer online stuff. I'd think most that enjoyed it would rather thisnto.

Knightofelemia75d ago

Sony needs to dust off Sly Cooper and Days Gone so needs a sequel two of my favorite Sony titles. Bulletstorm I love great game wish it also got a sequel. And I wish Namco would finally give Enslaved a sequel another great game.

Days Gone | Trailer [GOG]

Days Gone is now available DRM-free from GOG

shinoff2183183d ago

Such a fun ass game. I enjoyed it alot more then I thought I would.

ravens52182d ago

We need a part 2 doesn't even have to be Deacon. But I had no problems with him either, he was a dude on a mission.

Cacabunga182d ago

My second favorite PS4 game after RDR2 hands down

neutralgamer1992182d ago

I think with Jim Ryan gone we may get a sequel down the road. It has become a cult classic

andy85182d ago

This was so fun I love the hoards. People need to stick with it because the start is very slow

MrDead182d ago

Has a really good PC port too, I wasn't expecting much from this game but I had a blast. Wish it had a part 2 as the story was building well.

jznrpg182d ago

It does take some time to get some weapons ,skills and a few bike upgrades up to feel like you got a rhythm going but then it really starts to click and the game is a lot of fun

shinoff2183182d ago

I was sad when it ended. I wanted more. I'd have to look but I think that was one of the few games I platinumed to. I only got like 4. I don't go out of my way for trophies though

Abnor_Mal182d ago (Edited 182d ago )

@shinoff same I only have 4 plats and one is Days Gone, and I also don’t go out of my way for platinums.

Was a very fun game and wish there would be a sequel, maybe one day they will come back to it with a different pitch that Sony will approve.

They probably rejected it he sequel because it might not have been the direction they were going for with gaas games and the like.

jznrpg182d ago

@shinioff I had the same feeling when I got the platinum. I need more. Hopefully they make a sequel and leave multiplayer out of it unlike the last pitch for Days Gone2.

got_dam182d ago

The critical reception had Sony relegate Bend to a support studio. Thank God the fans spoke up and Sony reversed that decision.

jznrpg75d ago

They have been working on a game for some time now and have said so

Knightofelemia182d ago

One of my favorite Sony titles too bad there is no sequel.
