I have to be honest, I thought Microsoft was going to bring it but they didn't. They continue to show very little commitment to 1st party titles. State of Decay 2, Sea of Thieves and especially Forza 7 all looked great but nothing on the horizon shows any real investment other than the indie scene.

I keep saying that Sony and MS will eventually make exclusive Pro/X1X titles.

Why? This very reason lol. The games didn't look that great for all the bajillion Gigateraramflopz. Most looked like basic games for this then.

At some point studios will start asking for them to really use that power, if it can be used any more with the weak CPUs the consoles have. Ram and APU may not matter if the CPU side of the APU is so weak. The most graphically impressing games shown today were Forza, Metro and Anthem. I have a hard time believing similar results can't be achieved on PS4Pro. Even if lower, not $150 lower.

Well paced show for the most part though. Mostly just games, not a whole lot of time ego stroking themselves. Not a lot in the way of super exciting announcements, but a solid showing of decent to good games for the most part, , some of which are worth keeping an eye on, but shadow of war made me think how can they make Middle-Earth stupid.

Little disappointed they said they'd have 22 exclusives, where all but a few were actually timed exclusives, and not sure what MS hopes to achieve buying up these Japanese games for timed release. Still, couple games for my Xbox worth looking out for.

Kind of a shame they showed all the games on X1X though. I kind of like how Sony kept it to the stock PS4 despite Pro coming. Showed they were confident in the games themselves, and not just relying on power.

Only other criticism would be the CD3 demo. No major destruction shown to show off cloud copute, and what was there was covered in huge area effects so you couldn't see it. Wonder if they backtracked some on that selling point.

It was ALL indies, games that were shown at previous E3s or games we knew about, and multiplats.

That wasn't the conference everyone expected. It wasn't the conference MS needed. It was not a good show. EA had 3 very impressive games with 2 being brand new IPs we didn't know about. Microsoft did not have an Anthem or No Way Out. They needed at least one of those and they needed great showings from Sea of Thieves, Crackdown, and State of Decay 2. Unfortunately that didn't happen.

Most of those games you won't be playing on your PS4 anytime soon. Ori is not on any PS platform ay all and neither will Crackdown 3, CupHead, Sea of Thieves or Forza 7. These games are all optimized for the Xbox One X platform. They won't play as good on a PC. Even on the PC you'll need Microsoft platform to play it.

Forza 7 looked incredible. Crackdown 3, CupHead, State of Decay 2, Metro: Exodus and Sea of Thieves all looked good as well. Ori 2 was probably the biggest surprise and the OG XBox B/C was also great news. Thought they all had great showings. Of course you didn't like anything. You're a known troll who would never say anything positive about an XBox game or system. Conference wasn't great, but I still thought it was decent and rated it a C+. They didn't show any New IP's that gamers really wanted. Didn't have enough surprises. Conference didn't end with a big BANG, like it should have.

If u thought State of Decay 2 had a good showing i can't help you. State of Decay 2 was arguably the worst showing at the conference and Sea of Thieves was sorely disappointing as well. Crackdown 3 was a terrible showing also, it looked better at the reveal years ago. I truly believe Agents of Mayhem has arguably looked better. No destruction was shown, grfx were mediocre, and there was nothing to show me how much Crackdown has evolved since CD2. It was a vehicle for Terry Crews and that's it.

Now, i will admit there were some great indie showings, particularly Ashen. Ashen was impressive and obviously Cuphead looks awesome. Ori only showed art but it was impressive as hell. Forza did look gorgeous on the xboneX, but the games started looking less impressive visually as tie show proceeded, other than Anthem of course.

After ReCore released, I started mentioning that Phil Spencer, is not as devoted to 1st party as he states. ReCore had poor budget and needed more developement time, Phil just sent the game out to die.

Spencer likes to talk about classic games and tease them just for positive PR. People wanted new Battletch, classic Rare games, and the return of old Xbox IPs. Spencer will tease them, but he isn't willing to invest into them. Spencer has been head of Xbox long enough to commission the "games, games,games" that he states. But he obviously hasn't.

Much of MS's game budget, must of been invested into the Xbox One X, a console that will be lucky to get a 1 in 10 attach rate vs the XB1 S. Spencer "loves" his first party games so much, that he allowed Crackdown 3, which is MS's biggest game of the fall to have less stage time than 3rd party titles.

Agree 100%, I think maybe Phil's play is dependency on some unknown 3rd party AAA games that will be shown @ E3 & drop sometime this fall. This press conference was just completely terrible. What was shown has very little to do with Xbox in fact the vast majority if not almost all of the games shown or multi-platform.

What's funny is I had a great time watching all the interesting games that I would play on PC or on PlayStation 4 there was literally nothing that was shown that told me I had to buy an Xbox to specifically play any of the games shown.

This was just an absolutely miserable press conference in regards to the Xbox brand it was literally chock-full of multi-platform games.

Microsoft as a publisher didn't even show a single game in regards to a brand new Triple A property to give anyone reason to even purchase the game let alone the damn a platform.

If I own a gaming PC and I own a PlayStation 4 why on Earth am I going to go out of my way to buy another platform to play a series of games I could play right now on the platforms I already own?

I own a gaming PC and I still found very little out of this press conference by Microsoft themselves that actually purchase anything that they've made.

Microsoft is not only failing in regards to selling a console for exclusive games which they don't create any more they're failing just selling the game itself on multiple platforms which is in my opinion even more dangerous.

At this rate even Electronic Arts had a damn better press conference. Basically Nintendo and Sony white default are going to have better press conferences by Microsoft not even showing anything. ..

I bashed PSPlus for having nothing but Indie with their free games the last few months, but in June they made a turnaround. Got some decent games on PS4 ad PS3. Zero exaggeration, that conference was lame. A $499 X1X is obviously not a necessary device like MS needed it to be. Beyond that I've noticed a disgusting trend with MS lately:

They don't create anything anymore, if they ever did. They're officially a company that lets Sony, Nintendo and PC devs create amazing new ideas that MS then makes a terrible, bootleg version of. 70% of the games shown were blatant ripoffs.

Look at that Terry Crews intro game again. The song playing in the background is a blatant rippff of Kanye West "Black Skinhead". To the beat and lyrics, same exact delivery but skewed just enough to not be illegal. Damn near every game did the same but with gameplay itself. It's pathetic.

Ori and Sea of Theives are the only titles with any sense of personality that weren't blatant ripoffs of a game Sony or Nintendo already made. It's as if MS has become the Chinese bootlegger version of the games you love.

As a PS4 pro owner, I can say that the difference in graphics between PS4 and the Pro multi platform games are small. Not worth the price of admission really, so I expect the same here.

Two of the three you listed aren't exclusive. Incredibly disappointing. I traded my Xbox one and PS4 for a PS4 Pro in hopes that this console would get me back on that Microsoft wagon...it didn't. PS4 Pro and Switch for this guy until the PS5 releases next. Microsoft simply cannot compete on the games front. Why would anyone buy this over the $150 cheaper PS4 Pro? (If they drop the price tomorrow)

all games will run and play better, load faster that kinda thing. if it was dynamic resolution like 900-1080 it will be in 1080 all the time. if the game is 60fps but dips to like 50 it probably won't dip anymore.

however, it's the same game with performances. what you're refering too game slike gears of war 4 and resident evil 7 and a few others are actually doing a full on patch to make the game 4k native. and thats free.

Oh yes, Ori was absolutely beautiful!!! I agree but in my eyes wasn't enough. MS 1st party is lacking and we can really sea that now. We're 3 years in now and it doesn't seem that way for MS. Sony has a killer line up and maybe even more surprises.

I really wanted to get a X1X, but today MS didn't sell me on it. And the price ( which I wish they had a drop the mic moment at $399...I know wishful thinking) didn't happen. I also thought they would show some type of VR device on stage as well. I'm kind of stunned right now.

i have to agree. i'd probably give it a 7.5 out of 10

the big titles like the new assassins creed, new mordor game and anthem are all on ps4. and the other things we say was same as previous year crackdown, sea of theives and state of decay (the latter two not looking so impressive)

personally i was excited for the new ori. and i was able to watch in 4k so everything looked amazing. i wonder if anthem will be able to look and play the same on ps4, if ps4/pro versions are substantially worse then scorpio could have some merit, but that remains to be seen.

499 is a steep price.

lastly it's a nice face that one system can play original xbox games, 360 games and tne xbox games i well. thats one thing in MS's favor right now. i'll think about that when i purchase multi plate games. like should i buy resident evil 7 for ps4 or xbox one? ideally i'd like that purchase to carry forward to the next systems. it seem smore likely the next xbox will be able to play my existing xbox one games than the ps5 being able to play ps4 games but again it remains to be seen.

Xbox Scorpio is now Xbox One X.
Bunch of Xbox Launch exclusives (basically available on PC,Xbox then later down the line PS4 and possibly Switch)
Sea Of Thieves releases early next year (yay)
Crackdown 3 this year (yay)
Forza 7 (oh)
Original Xbox BC (nice feature)
$500 for the XOX (ok I suppose for what you get)

That about it by the looks of it. No new first party titles? Didn't sound like a good conference to be honest. However, I am happy about Crackdown and SOT.

Conference was alright but I see no reason to buy a launch 1X. I can play those games on the slim.

It looks like crackdown took a major downgrade. They hardly showed any destruction and buildings falling down.

They didn't do a good job explaining how state of decay 2 differed from the first game. I understand that they will get in depth in the next few days but it just seems awkward that you would make your reveal trailer look exactly like the first game, locations, monsters and all.

All the damage they showed was covered in huge area effects. Then nothing what happens afterwards. The area effects can help to cover up any latency from cloud compute, and it probably a good way to handle that, but I think what people should want to see is how that damage affects game play.

Really disappointed at the showing when after all these years of it being the one and only selling point for the game, that after finally showing the game play they don't even show that part of the selling point. Plus the game looks fairly generic as an arena type shooter.

As a former Xbox and Xbox 360 owner I was hoping Microsoft would give me a reason to open up my wallet but I have to say it was a bust for me to be honest. I'm sure the Xbox faithful were more than pleased and the X is the most powerful console but all the games that I really have to play are also coming to the Pro and while third party games may look better on the X I don't have to have it. Crackdown 3 finally releasing is a good thing but I was so hoping for more single player intimate experiences and it seems that's not the demo they are shooting for which is fine. Options are always good and I saw that God of War is hitting this November(which I was expecting early 2018) and that has me super hyped for what Sony has to show tomorrow!

A couple of reflections on what just happened:

1. Waaaay too much focus on MP. I can count the games I was interested in on one finger.
2. Timed exclusives (which they're now calling "launch exclusives"?) count as exclusives since when?
3. Lots of 4K mentioned, but no real mention of frame rate, apart from Forza 7.
4. Scripted gameplay demos like the ones they showed (especially the Sea of Thieves demo) need to stop. Doesn't matter who's stage it's on... no one plays their games like that.

I think those are cross platform games but I can really see the great graphics upgrade in those. In relation to how much a upgrade it is I'm still not sure yet till we get comparison videos. Well this was my first time watching a Microsoft conference. I was excited to see this new console and for the most part I'm impressed with it. However the gaming department left much to be desired, don't get me wrong forza looked beautiful. Haven't been paying any attention to Sea of thieves but after finally seeing it, I got a Monkey Island vibe which was interesting. I was really hoping Crackdown would blow me away but that was really disappointing. Especially since I recall Phil saying he either played it recently or watched it in action, I hope that was what he was bragging about. Anthem looked good but all in all it was not the knock out punch I was lead to believe would occur. They left the door open for Sony to run away with this one again.

Extremely boring conference! They showed a couple of interesting games but they really needed way more than that. The biggest crowd pop came from og xbox backwards compatibility for gods sake! The $499 just added to the misery. Sony will beat it in the first 5 minutes of their conference. Their starting montage will be better than the whole xbox conference.
