Six months after launch, Sony PlayStation VR finally gets more games—good ones, too.

Farpoint can't come soon enough.. since RE7 the PSVR has been devoid of any real great games.

1nsomniac2567d ago

Unfortunately early previewers of Farpoint have all said the game is currently pretty terrible.

I really hope it turns out to be a great game. As my VR set is sitting waiting but it's not sounding good so far.

Pricey2567d ago

Oh you mean like these ones:

PSU : http://www.psu.com/preview/...
Farpoint’s controls are an intuitive beast, which only helps to complement the solid gunplay. Your standard armament is a meat assault rifle, although by flicking the weapon in an over-the-shoulder manner you can switch to a Shotgun for close proximity battles. Grenades are mapped to the button below your scan device for easy access, and we also got to test out some guided rockets to give us some extra oomph in combat. Sadly, that’s about all we got to try, as our partner wrapped things up although; however, from what we played, Farpoint is shaping up to be a brilliant addition to PSVR’s growing library, and playing with a mate further adds to its pick-up-and-play appeal.

uploadVR: https://uploadvr.com/farpoi...
Farpoint is shaping up to be one of PSVR’s best and most exciting upcoming titles. The robust 5+ hour single player campaign combined with a separate and fleshed out cooperative multiplayer mode delivers more content than most VR-only titles in these early years of the industry. We’ve only seen small slices thus far, but the quality of the game and the power of the Aim controller have us excited to try more.

Gamereactor: https://www.gamereactor.eu/...
Farpoint's demonstration was more about showing off the shooting mechanics, though, and it does an immaculate job of doing just that. The shooting is extremely well done and shows how VR First Person Shooters can work in principle. It's incredibly fun to gun down aliens aiming down the holographic sight or with a shotgun and a grenade launcher, but the game needs to do far more with the world and story (which we have no doubt they will do) to ensure its longevity upon release. For now though we can't wait to get back in our spacesuits with a laser rifle in our hands.

Polygon : http://www.polygon.com/feat...
This is a less favourable preview (He liked it but felt queasy) and yet still gave this positive summary :
Ultimately, Nolta wants playing Farpoint to feel no different than any other shooter you might play, and also super comfortable. I played a small section of an unfinished game, and it was already super impressive, seeming to me that the developers are well on their way. As a fan of first-person shooters, the prospect of taking experiences I already enjoy into Farpoint's virtual world is supremely enticing … if a little worrying.

1nsomniac2567d ago (Edited 2567d ago )

The UploadVR sounds more of an interest piece rather than them actually having played it themselves. The other links though fair enough I hadn't seen them. Again, the only one going into detail is PSU but is obviously going to remain slightly biased so I would take their account with a pinch of salt.

I have read in depth previews that explained features & mechanics that have said it just doesn't feel right. Some have mentioned that they're a little worried about the progress of the game.

Understandably the preview seems to have been very short but I'll wait until closer to release before considering if I'm going to buy it but opinions are very mixed at the moment so I'm not going to be foolish enough to get massively hyped for it. If you want to then that's fine.

Gotta post links for a comment like that

IGiveHugs2NakedWomen2566d ago

So 1nsomniac, are we supposed to just take your word for it or should we believe Pricey and his EVIDENCE that proves you wrong?

1nsomniac2566d ago (Edited 2566d ago )

Don't believe me, I couldn't care less.

It was just a comment on an observation - maybe I should have clarified that the word "All" shouldn't of been taken so literally. If you want to act like an over emotional pre-pubescent child, cry & demand evidence that's completely up to you guys.

All I've said is that VR is still in its infancy so developing solid, enjoyable, proper games without the typical VR side effects is difficult, so we should wait & see as these have been noted by people who have actually played the game... I think there's too much oestrogen in the waters here at N4G.

DigitalRaptor2561d ago

It would help to post the links of these negative previews.

Posting "don't believe me" and huffing yourself out of the conversation is not going to get people to believe you any more. Actual links, you know, actually would.

I'm selling and waiting for something better. The resolution is just not good enough.

KingTrash2567d ago

Sony fanboys strike again! I own a Pro and play almost everything on it but come on...the implementation isn't that good between the res and the move controller/camera scenario. Be honest with yourselves!

mkis0072567d ago

It has to start somewhere.

IGiveHugs2NakedWomen2567d ago

I'm going to be honest with myself. I disagree with you.

OB1Biker2567d ago (Edited 2567d ago )

'Sony fanboys strike again! '
What do you mean?
That doesn't make any sense as if your arguing with yourself

lawgone2567d ago

Yep, they won't let you have ANY negative opinion about a PS game or device. Even if it's 100% true, they will downvote you.

IGiveHugs2NakedWomen2566d ago (Edited 2566d ago )

@lawgone

Here's my dissenting opinion about the games
http://n4g.com/comments/red...

I understand that PSVR is still in it's infancy, but my opinion is that so far, only a dozen games are actually worth buying. As for the comment saying that PSVR's implementation is bad, I totally, and completely disagree. I have never had and problems with PSVR, PS4 Pro, the camera, or head tracking.

It's early tech. If we had held early videogames to the same standards we hold early VR, gaming never would have gotten off the ground!

Whenever you have to say "don't worry" to try and calm people, you should worry.

If this thing was 1/10 as popular as people make it out, and hope it to be, nobody would even need to say "don't worry".

Worry. You have all the reason to.

S2Killinit2567d ago

Youre missing the point, the article title is clickbait. I can tell you as an owner, RE7 is amazing in PSVR, some others really impressed but needless to say there needs to be more games like RE7, so im waiting on Farpoint and the Aim controller which have won many awards. Personally ive enjoyed VR a lot but i need more compelling games and they seem to be arriving.

blady_man2567d ago

Im with u, for me the only way to play re7 is in vr, is sooo immersive.
Cant wait fot farpoint and the vr controller

jukins2567d ago

Starblood arena is very fun. For anyone looking for a good new vr game

S2Killinit2567d ago

I might check it out. Thanks.

OB1Biker2567d ago (Edited 2567d ago )

You may have a point about popularity.
For some reason there's a lack of coverage regarding PSVR games. Is it because of lack of interest ? Idk
Check out these for instance and many games incoming didn't have the coverage they deserve particularly on N4G

finally!, being waiting for this game since its announcement some years ago, so many objects on screen using physics running at 60 fps is always mesmerizing to see.

SullysCigar372d ago

Played the demo on PSVR2 - it's trippy as hell!

Knushwood Butt372d ago (Edited 372d ago )

Awesome. I had this on my PS wishlist and was going to buy it Day 1. Seen as I have Extra, now I don't need to!
PSVR2 support too.

Abnor_Mal372d ago

Platformers are not really my thing, but I guess I can try it out on PlusExtra. In VR2 to boot.

Finally! been badgering the devs on twitter for awhile now. Demo put me in a trance and i loved it.
