So I shouldn't sell my PS4 then?

EDIT: This was a joke by the way. I know that the sarcasm doesn't communicate well through text.

Erik73572671d ago (Edited 2671d ago )

Yea damn I was thinking about netflix. It will have it for sure in its first few months but damn I can't believe this was not prioritized at launch.

Gaming_Cousin2670d ago (Edited 2670d ago )

Prioritized? People buy gaming consoles to play games not watch Netflix

ZeekQuattro2670d ago (Edited 2670d ago )

Maybe if devices like Smart TV's, Roku's and Amazon Fire Sticks were not a thing maybe I would agree with you.

Kabaneri2670d ago

Yeah what will I do without Netflix on the Switch! Its like I dont have Netflix already on my PS4, PC, XB1, TV, Phone, Ipad, and Cable Box.
Thats it preorder cancelled!

cash_longfellow2670d ago

@Gaming_Cousin...but there are no games either.

PlayableGamez-2670d ago

@Gaming_Cousin
Let's be real here a lot off us watch Netflix on our consoles.

The Great Melon2670d ago (Edited 2670d ago )

@Gaming_Cousin

You'd be surprised. My friend bought a PS3 and ostensibly only used it for Amazon Instant Video and Netflix. I don't get people sometimes.

MyDietEqualsGames2670d ago

Netflix? Hahaha. What a POS. I do like their original shows more so than the content selection. I very much prefer my own digital catalog. The only problem is that it grows in size as formats are introduced. I will have to call it quits at some point. :D

Aenea2669d ago

Why would it need Netflix? Netflix is everywhere, even on your phone and since the Switch needs your phone for many things anyways.....

You weren't seriously considering this were you? It would be like trading in your iPhone 7+ for a Lumia 650. Great phone but well behind the competition in 2017. Even worse are all the great games you would miss out on!

2670d ago
WeAreLegion2670d ago

Why in God's name would you sell a PS4 right now?

subtenko2670d ago

nah you dont joke about selling a ps4. You broke tryin to feed your kids by selling a ps4? Better not make dumb jokes and get your fam to ration ramen noodles. You is keepin that ps4 ya heard? Good..... plus the increased rumble in your stomach provides a rumble vest like experience to compliment the DS4 rumble. Not tryin to disrespek but prioritiess dawg come on....no more dumb jokes about selling a ps4

XanderZane2669d ago

And I shouldn't sell my 3DS. At least that has Netflix on it as well. I have Netflix on pretty much every device. Not really a big deal. If I do decided to get a Switch it will be closer to the end of the year, so Netflix will probably be on it by then anyways.

rainslacker2669d ago

Guess that means I won't have to subscribe to Netflix. Haven't been subbed for a long time now. Know it's a cool thing and all, but it's not like everyone cares, and if they do, they probably already have a way to watch it.

Seems like they are focusing on games for this unit. I didnt hear much about other media applications either so this could very well be a strictly gaming platform. Something we havent seen in a very long time. No movies, no tv, no music, no streaming, no internet browsing... just games.

LOL_WUT2671d ago

I doubt it. The controller has a sharing button which at one point it would be able to capture video. ;)

darthv722671d ago

sharable to their own online service like the miiverse thing but for switch perhaps....?

ElectricFeel2670d ago

@darth72 No Miiverse on Switch. It was confirmed the other day. They said shareable onto social media. They made it sound like Facebook etc but as you said it could be a Switch alternative to Miiverse.

rdgneoz32670d ago

The lake of a big launch lineup and big name multi plats says otherwise. Also seeing as you need a phone app for chatting and such, that's not big on the game's first philosophy.

Monster_Tard2670d ago

Wal-mart was including 2 months of Sling TV and some Vudo movie codes with their Switch per-orders, so I also doubt it.

vickers5002669d ago

I hope you're not implying that the lack of basic media features will somehow equate to a better or more pure gaming experience.

Because that would be stupid.

Not defending this or anything. But having a smart tv now...I really have not used my consoles (PS4 Pro or Xbox One) for Netflix in a long time. I can see it getting phased out of consoles as smart TVs become standard.

Erik73572671d ago

Very true, didn't think about that.

But it's still very nice to have netflix as a option to get on it ya know? They will definitely have it before the end of 2017 I can tell you that.

Lennoxb632670d ago

Yea I seriously doubt that streaming apps are going to get phased out of consoles. It's another revenue stream for those companies. Why would they take that away.

Grilla2670d ago (Edited 2670d ago )

Smart tv's suck, I only use it when I'm desperate. If I'm gonna watch Netflix, it's on the ps4.

There's is no way the switch isn't getting netflix. It might be a little late but it'll get it at some point. The wii u has it, my daughter uses it a lot.

MasterCornholio2670d ago

I'm pretty sure switch will have all the typical media apps like YouTube and Netkfix. Like the PS4 it might not get all those apps at launch though.

vickers5002669d ago

Depends on what smart tv you have I guess. I have a vizio, with a netflix button right on the remote and holy crap is it fast to boot up, it became faster with the update. The ui is pretty fast too.

Other than watching 4k videos, I don't have much reason to use my ps4s netflix app, though I use to use it and ps3s app all the time. It does suck that my 4k tvs built in youtube app doesn't even display at 4k, while amazons app on the tv does. And recently the pause menu has changed so I can no longer see what resolution netflix is displaying at, which kind of sucks, but if the cost was an instantaneous no-load time boot up for netflix was the price of that, with only 2 friggin clicks to get to the main netflix menu (one of those clicks choosing my specific profile) then I'm okay with the redesigned pause menu. I'm usually a staunch, anti app person when it comes to those apps being on anything other than a console, but the vizio m series tv I have has surprisingly exceptional app quality...for netflix.

Hulu crashes every 4 or 5 episodes though or when trying to fast forward or rewind, which kind of sucks, but my tv also has smart cast built in for things like youtube, so as long as my tv is on, my phone will see it, while my ps4 pro demands I start the youtube app manually with my controller before being able to use my phone for casting, defeating much of the purpose of there being smart cast on there in the first place. I dunno why spotify works but not youtube. Oh well.

My point is, not all smart tv features are crappy.

MasterCornholio2670d ago

It makes a lot of sense for portable devices though. And I'm guessing that it would be a nice feature for families that have to share one televisión.

RedPill862670d ago

Smart TV's are becoming the standard just like 3D TV's.

Hint. They never did, never will. The TV is what lets you use your devices. Consumers have zero interest in having the TV replace the devices they love with wonky UI's, horrid speeds, and lackluster support. There's a reason why smart TV's sell so poorly. Nobody needs a TV that can play Netflix when they can get a cheaper TV, buy a console and get the FASTER Netflix support, plus dozens of other apps and the ability to play a wide variety of games.

JasonKCK2670d ago

No Netflix right now OMG! Yup time to start bashing Nintendo.

Gazondaily2670d ago

Nintendo has bigger problems to be honest

attilayavuzer2670d ago

It shouldn't be a problem given that this'll be a secondary console for everyone who buys one.

DillyDilly2670d ago

They dont need it everything else has Netflix

RedPill862670d ago

They do. A consumer will always take what's simpler. If a sales person, or even an online review mentions even ONCE that you can pick up an Xbox One or PS4, play a lot more 3rd party titles, have a somewhat established library AND use netflix all without having to switch devices or inputs? That person is sold. You are not the average consumer. You're a video game connoisseur. The average consumer just wants something simple that'll do everything at once for as little money as possible. It's the same reason Smart TV's are failing. Why buy a $1000 TV that can run Netflix when you can get the same size TV, plus a console, still have access to Netflix, all for less than a $1000. Average consumer wants simplicity. Period.

Cyber Citizen Shockman 3: The Princess from Another World review - Games Asylum

Games Asylum: "Super Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog weren’t the only platforming heroes receiving system-selling sequels in 1992. Over in Japan, the PC Engine’s Kaizō Chōjin Shubibinman (Shockman) series gained its third entry. US gamers had only just received the second game, and while there was hope of the CD-based Kaizō Chōjin Shubibinman 3 making it to the US, it was never to be. After playing through this newly translated re-release, it’s easy to see the potential it may have had – it’s comparable visually to Mega Drive/Genesis games released the same year and would have likely been positively received in the likes of EGM and GamePro."
