My top 5

1. Enter the Gungeon - the best rogue like/bullet hell game i have ever played. The Best guns in a game to date.

2. Ratchet & Clank - arguably the best looking cartoon style game ever, with gameplay to match. A masterclass in rebooting a series. Insomniac is hitting on all cylinders with Spider-man on the horizon. Good times.

3. Uncharted 4 - admittedly i have not finished the game bc i wanted to run through the Drake collection before i finish the series finale. However, the hours i did put in revealed the brilliant brush that ND so effortlessly paints with. It literally appears to be as close to a flawless game as we've had in a while. Best in class visuals, voice acting, performance capture, and perhaps writing.

4. DOOM - Spectacular sp, perfect hardcore score, and the best combat in any FPS this year. Did i mention it's absolutely gorgeous and it runs at 60fps on console? DOOM is back, id is back, and the id tech engine is stunning. Can't wait to see Wolfenstein TNO 2 running on this. It's arguable (imo) that the past 3 years the best FPS has been Published by Bethesda and running on id tech. Wolfenstein TNO (2014), The Old Blood (2015), DOOM (2016).

5. Salt n Sanctuary - a one man band made this masterful 2D Dark Souls delight. It IS Soulsborne in 2D, and it's spectacular.

Honorable mention: LET IT DIE - i am utterly addicted to this styled out Suda51 rogue like. It's a rogue like with aspects of Dark Souls, but in reality it defies explanation. It just has so many enjoyable elements and you do not have to spend a penny to be successful and have fun.

There are several games i own that i anticipated as being goty candidates but i simply haven't had the time to properly play them yet. These games are Deus Ex MKD, The Last Guardian, FFXV, and Dishonored 2. Inside falls into this category as well, so this list is subject to change.

Same here, sad part is a lot of games that I wanna play but haven't had the time to, I'll probably never get to play due to other games constantly releasing throughout the year. I haven't had a true drought yet that allowed me to clear a couple games off my backlog. I just need a month to beat TLG and Dishonored 2 lol. I got GR2 coming this month, Nioh, For Honor, and then Horizon in feb. Nier in March, and P5 in April. I fear I may never play TLG or Dishonored 2 if this continues throughout the year.
