Watch A Full Driveclub VR Race on PlayStation VR’s Social Screen on PS4

Driveclub VR is probably one of the most spectacular VR games in the pipeline, and today DualShockers was allowed to film a full race from the social screen, while driving.

I know people who like to take their cars to racetracks every now and then. Once they realize they can do pretty much the same with PSVR and a wheel while not having to worry about safety or their cars, they might even stop doing that completely. It's crazy how far technology advanced during the last 10/20 years.

@jeenyus
You do realize GT Sports with VR support is on it's way ....? And it has the track they visit every few months included, even their cars.

jeenyus2778d ago

Either your friends don't care about using a racetrack or you're lying about knowing such people.
As amazing as VR is, this game has like 0 simulation of what a car feels like, even if you had a proper chair/wheel setup.

SniperControl2778d ago (Edited 2778d ago )

@jeenyus

I have a racing rig setup at home with VR and vibration transducers using SimComannder placed around the rig, let me tell you, it's pretty damn close to the real thing, this is coming from a former E46 M3 owner, i have also done track days with a Nissan GTR and a Ferrari 480.

There are even racing rigs out there that can emulate accelerating, decelerating and cornering G forces quite convincingly.

Decent video.

But I would have shown the video with either split screen or pulled back to show player reaction too.

uth112778d ago

Yeah, I wanted to see the vomiting at the end too :)

Scatpants2777d ago

Driving games don't make me sick in VR. Must be the cockpit view that keeps it from happening.

PizzaSteve2778d ago

Such a beautiful game. Why Sony let Evolution Studios end when they could bring back Motorstorm or even bring back a classic like Jet Moto.

Skate-AK2778d ago

Sony still owns the IP's and someone might even do it better.

jukins2778d ago

Only reason I can think of is the boggled driveclub delays and launch issues. Evolution probably over promised required almost an extra year of work which means money then it launched and still had issues for awhile

Don't get me wrong driveclub is my favorite racer this gen and can't wait to try vr but just in case you were wondering g why they were let go.

mcstorm2778d ago

Looks cool but I'm still not sold on VR and it will be interesting to see what the publics' reaction is when it come out.

SniperControl2778d ago

All those positive reviews coming journalists and gamers alike have not sold you yet? You need to try the thing, watching someone or hearing about VR from someone doesnt do VR justice, ask a friend to demo it(if they have any kind off VR) to you or get down to your local game shop and try it.

It's not for everybody and i understand that, but at least give it a go before you dismiss it.

mcstorm2778d ago

I have tried VR quite a few times but i just don't get exited about it. It's kind of like the Wii mote or Kinect in a way to me. Yeah its cool but after a long day at work do I want to be putting a head set on to play a game? If mates are round it takes the fun out of local gaming with being able to chat see them and wind them up like we do now.

It's just not for me as I said its a cool idea but I just don't see it being the next big thing in gaming.

Looks like one of the best reasons to get a PSVR. Couple of questions

-what kind of PS4?
-The camera looks like it pretty much follows Driveclub standard. Can you actually look around freely? Could you turn and see what's on the back seat, make sure the kids are behaving or whatever?

uth112778d ago

Yes you can look around freely. There was another video on this and the camera definitely followed the drivers head movements

The Best VR Racing Games and Simulators

BY RICK MARSH: Video games are meant to be immersive. They encourage us to act like footballers, spies, assassins, and a wealth of other characters. VR takes this escapism even further, offering a level of realism that offers near-total immersion. As well as providing the opportunity for some of the most entertaining games around, VR also has a host of real-world applications.

One of the best reasons for VR:simulators.

But you would think something as easy as Need for Speed: No Limits VR could be ported to PSVR, Quest, PC VR,etc. to make it even better without the drift. Nope. It's EA. Those lazy bums. No wonder I boycott them.

Jakens1845d ago

It would be great if we get GTR 3 and the newest Assetto to home consoles and with VR support.

Games are subjective I guess. But this list is weak. Some of the titles named aren't that good. I could have came up with a better list. And some of the best and latest releases aren't even on this list.

Article could have been better.
