Can't really complain about it too much for $800 though. Only thing bad about the TV is no HDR, but for this price? It's still an upgrade from 1080p on the cheap, and would make a good bedroom set when you get a good 4K HDR set for the living room!

I'm still waiting for Scorpio, but this is a really tempting offer.

4k but no HDR? Why pair it with the One S if it's going to be missing out on a One S feature?

LGs '4k' LED LCD TVs are majoratively questionable with regards to how they handle the source material natively. Due to the WRGB pixel structure they use it can leave native 4k content a little fuzzy, not to mention I've seen reports of odd sets suffering from image retention (something I've never seen in an LCD before).

The wider native source colour and increased gradients are two very important factors in displaying HDR images and this TV has neither, rendering that whole point moot.

In all honesty if people aren't willing or able to spend a little more on a capable mid range 4k set, then hold off until further down the line. Maybe then we'd get dynamic metadata for HDR10, who knows?

Problem is that tv. If you look at the specs its worse than the same model of last generation of the same tv. I know because i bought one, returned it and got the better, older, model.

I'm not getting rid of my plasma until I can swap it with an OLED, and they are too expensive right now. All this 4k/3d/curved stuff is nice, but not necessary tbh. A bright, colorful picture with deep blacks and low power consumption is necessary tho. But that's just my opinion.

55" is a little small for 4k, I know lg and some others make 43 and 45" 4k but honestly, I wouldnt buy a 4k smaller than 60".

Monitors use less dense pixels in order to better suit playing near a screen. Televisions use denser pixels, as they are designed to be viewed at a distance.
When either is used as intended, they offer the same result.

Even on a smaller screen like 40in an even at 10 feet away there is a massively noticeable difference in watching a 4k tv compared to a 1080p tv. 4k is INCREDIBLY crispy.

You got it twisted. Sell the TV, and get a good one with HDR.

Internal 4k upscaling reduces artifacts and lag associated with having the XB1 upscale to 1080p, then having the TV upscale THAT to 4k.
HDR offers more than 4k upscale in terms of image improvement.
UHD movie playback and 4k streaming content is native, which looks awesome too.

The TV will do HDR along with 4K. The Xbox One S comes with a 4K blue ray player and upscales games to 4K just like the PS4 Neo. The PS4 Neo upscaling from 1440P, The XBO-S upscalling from 900P-1080P. The XBO-S supports HDR and streams 4k video via Netflix, etc. unlike the PS4 Neo. The PS4 slim in not in the conversation, and the Xbox One Scorpio will do all of the above in native 4K in whatever framerate per sec the original Xbox One and XBO s is running just so everyone can game on the same playing field

good deal if you are wanting an affordable tv, but be warned it's LCD LED, so it'll never be perfectly clear, and it has no HDR support.

I get that most people don't really care about picture quality or else plasma would be top dog and still relevant in the market today. OLED is too expensive for many, but worth it. Quantum dot display by Samsung might be the next affordable option that'll be superior to lcd leds

Don't know if it has HDR. I couldn't find it in this review. The LG HDTV is average though. It's good, but nothing special. If I'm going to get a 4K HDTV, I would most likely get a Samsung. I definitely wouldn't get this TV. Of course, if you are getting it for your childrens room or something, it's probably not a bad deal.

Um....... How much is the TV worth originally? Because if 4K TVs on average go for less than $500 then its not a good deal.

Edit: Also I'd like to point out to people thinking about buying an xbox one when they dont have one, the new xbox scorpio is probably right around the corner and to me imo it would suck for the scorpio to come out a year later and you just bought the xbox one even if it is the S. (If you care about being concurrent)

I will get Neo and 4ktv instead- that is an older 4k tv they are selling, I want an HDR or whatever it is , big difference in quality but price is steeper as well. Best Buy has a bunch of 4ktvs without HDR in the 300-500 dollar range
