It's a shame the 2TB bundle doesn't come with any games included.

Afrokk2831d ago

Yeah. I guess they would launch some game bundle 2TB Xbox One S too, with some newer titles like FIFA 17 or maybe BF1.

UltimateMaster2830d ago

Just wait two months and a half and I am sure they'll drop the price or add a game to it.

Afrokk2831d ago

Yours Gears of War 4 Special Edition? The red one?

opinionated2831d ago

Ultimate edition gears 4 😬 I'm hyped. It's too bad it doesn't come with all of the in game preorder stuff though.

ONESHOTV22831d ago

you are asking for too much if you want a free game buy the special edition that comes with a game i doubt it will be the 2TB version though.

MasterCornholio2831d ago (Edited 2831d ago )

"The Xbox One S 500GB will cost $299 and it will come with free copies Halo: The Master Chief* Collection and Halo 5: Guardians."

That's a good deal.

Afrokk2831d ago

Thanks for spotting the typo, fixed.
And yes, its a sweet deal.

Yui_Suzumiya2831d ago

Very tempted by that offer :3

Youngindy212830d ago

If I were you I'd go with the 1TB bundle instead. 500gb is not enough storage space in my opinion.

TheHorseTamer2830d ago (Edited 2830d ago )

Youngindy above

There is always the option to use an external HDD so the space size really don't matter that much.

MachuchalBrotha3162830d ago

@youngindy, noy really when you can slap a 3.0 external hdd and call it a day.

Unspoken2830d ago

500GB is perfect considering I already have an external hard drive. The ease of plus and play will make this a smooth transition.

I think they should of bundled the Halo games with the 1TB Console. Both Halo MCC and Halo 5 require huge storage space. They will take up nearly half the 500GB HDD alone.

TheHorseTamer2830d ago

They do. The Halo 5/Halo MCC 1tb is also an available option.

Both the 500GB and 1TB hard drive options for the Xbox One Halo Collection Bundle will be available at participating retailers, including Microsoft Stores, in the U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand for $299 USD and $349 USD, respectively.

@The HorseTamer

Cheers mate. That wasn't pointed out in the article above. They made it sound like it wasnt a choice. Thanks for the info.

freshslicepizza2830d ago

where are those people who thought the 500gb xbox one s wasn't coming until the end of the year? but yes this is a good deal and i wonder if the madden 1tb will include ea access for a year?

MasterCornholio2830d ago (Edited 2830d ago )

"where are those people who thought the 500gb xbox one s wasn't coming until the end of the year? "

I'm one of them. I only thought that because the dates for the more expensive versions were announced first and a really late place holder was made for the cheaper ones. I thought that November would be when the* cheaper models would come out.

With that said I'll admit that I was wrong and I apologize for it.

That makes upgrading more tempting. I thought my hard died but it was just the power cord had come loose. I have been getting the flashing power light lately so, I may just upgrade anyway.

Aug 23rd for the 299 model was the smart way to go opposes to the holiday season. They are going to sweep the UHD market this year until an affordable alternative comes. Microsoft is on top of their shit right now.

Theres a theory going around that the more recent PS4 models are capable of playing UHD content with a patch. Then there's rumors that firmware 4.0 will activate UHD playback on the PS4.

My personal opinion is if that was true then they would have announced it at E3 to counter the Xbox One S. My theory is that Sony's first UHD playback console will be the NEO and maybe future PS4s will do that as well.

@Gold

I remember someone said something about there being various HDR formats. One that is open source and the other that isn't. Then they said that some TVs support one or the other while others support both.

opinionated2831d ago

Ah that's what he meant. That would be pretty sweet if true. And yeah that would be a pretty good counter to the slim. I didn't think it was possible to add 4K and HDR support to the current consoles.

Goldby2831d ago

4k yes, not to sure about HDR

rainslacker2830d ago

It may be available on more recent models if they changed the HDMI control chip. Such a thing should be easily verifiable by simply opening the system and looking for that chip. If a new system has the connection pins on the outside of the chip, it isn't possible. If it's all integrated, and I believe the chip made by Toshiba as of right now, then it should be possible to patch through firmware.

The current X1 and PS4, and even BR players that upscale to 4K have the other hardware required for UHD/HDR playback and output, but there's a silicon solution for HDR/UHD that would require an actual hardware change in the older systems.

This silicon solution isn't really about the HDR format as a whole, rather the movie studios requirements for allowing near master levels of quality to be available to the consumer at large. Dolby HDR does require licensing, and IIRC an additional silicon solution, although I believe that solution simply replaces the "standard" HDR-10 control chips.

opinionated2830d ago (Edited 2830d ago )

How do you know which HDR your TV supports? I have a 2016 Sony Bravia and it just says HDR, not Dolby or HDR 10.

rainslacker2830d ago (Edited 2830d ago )

@opinionated

HDR10 should be available if your TV was made in the last 12-18 months. HDR was not a selling point much before that, but as far as I know it actually does work. HDR is the actual format war for 4K, but otherwise, 4K will work either way. Sometimes you can find something about it in the settings menu of your TV as well. I saw it on my Samsung and another Sony unit at work, before I really knew what it all was.

It's Dolby HDR which is less common, although some consider it better. HDR10 will be encoded into all media, and likely DHDR will be available on many pieces of paid media, and just not display should your overall connections not have the proper hardware.

Currently I think only LG, and a couple other companies support DHDR, but they all support HDR10. Best bet is to find the model number of your TV, then just do a search online, and you should be able to find the specifications.

If one is buying an HDR/4K TV now, then it will at least support HDR10, which is what I'm assuming is what MS is offering in the X1S. If you are buying it and it has a Dobly HDR log slapped on it somewhere, you'll be set for both standards. I think only the really low end 4K TV's nowadays don't support any HDR nowadays.

I'm not sure, but UHD may still work without the HDR stuff should your system not support it at some point.

For me, outside the actual HDR/UHD player, the only thing in my system which isn't capable of HDR is the receiver, which kind of pisses me off because I paid a lot more for it back before HDR was standardized because it supported 4K formats. Now I'll have to replace it if I want it to switch between my devices without having to jerry rig some weird wiring for the UHD/Receiver.

Sweep the UHD market how? It can only do that of it cost significantly lower than other UHD players out there but it is not.

opinionated2831d ago

I would say 100 dollars is a significant amount. And it's a game system to boot instead of paying 4 bens for a stand alone.

noksucow732830d ago

Seems much cheaper to me, not to mention your getting the benefits of a game system too. Just like how Sony did it with DVD in the ps2, and bluray in their ps3.

yeahright22831d ago

Quite a bit sooner than I anticipated. And the freebies are sweet. if I didn't already have an X1 and cared about Halo, I'd be all over this. Only thing that would give me pause would be if Scorpio is going to be $500 or less.

Afrokk2831d ago

Agreed. But Scorpio will be $500+ if it really features that many TFLOPS and stuff. PS Neo could be under $500 but Scorpio has power and it will be expensive.
