Been playing the HD collection, just finished SC1 currently on Pandora Tomorrow.

Man how I miss the classic Splinter cell.

I still think to this day that Chaos Theory and Pandora Tomorrow have the best multiplayer I've ever played. I'll never forget getting my Xbox and a shiny new xbox live membership, fighting with my purple Linksys wireless G router and basically forcing myself to learn wireless networking to get the damn thing working, but once it was up and running and connected, launching an online game 2v2, third person spies vs first person mercs and having an absolute blast.

Of course, the single player is equally incredible as well. The first three games just did not hold your hand. There wasn't a "mark and execute" mode, it was all manually aiming at your targets, while hanging from pipes, and doing split jumps between two walls. Sam's moveset in the game was so incredibly involved and complex. Easy to learn, hard to master.

The fact that in multiplayer, you can jump down on someone from a pipe, and knock them out, or come up behind them and grapple them, and suddenly, your victim can now hear YOUR voice, allowing you to say a few choice words before snapping their necks, that is gaming bliss. You can hoist your partner up to a ventilation shaft, you can you throw all different kinds of grenades, you can taze people, or put them to sleep. You can disrupt their radar. You can hang from a ledge, and if they got near it, grab them and throw them over, knocking them out. There was so much that could do. I fell in love with online gaming from that very point.

Good times.

You never played Socom?

The_Kills2843d ago

Yeah you can forget EVER feeling like that again with a game from Ubisoft if there isn't a paradigm shift from some other dimension to drive it.

I would of loved for the HD collection to of been made for 360 and then added to the BC list for Xbox One. I still have all the originals but digging out my OG Xbox and setting it up seems so hard lol. Think I'm just getting lazy.

I really hope we get a new SC game soon. It's one of my top favorite game series. Wasn't a big fan of Double Agent or Conviction but loved Blacklist.

TheROsingleB2844d ago

Splinter Cell is a great series; glad Ubi hasn't totally forgotten about it. Chaos Theory (3rd game) was so damn good!

DLConspiracy2844d ago

The music was pretty nice too.

spicelicka2844d ago

Pandora tomorrow and Chaos theory are two of the best stealth games ever made!

starchild2844d ago

Splinter Cell Blacklist, despite the drama surrounding the voice change, was actually an incredible game. I can't wait to see where they go next with the series.

EazyC2844d ago

Love SC, it's always been my favourite stealth series. Ubisoft need to do a new one and usher in a new era of the stealth genre. The "3 stages of alertness (seen, caution, unseen), cone of vision + rudimentary sound (as in, how much noise you make)mechanics" have been the same for yonks now.

I hope they get Michael Ironside back

ONESHOTV22844d ago

yeah i downloaded the prince of persia i will look for this as well but it's too bad i dont go on Uplay that much even though i own so many games on it

Artemidorus2844d ago (Edited 2844d ago )

Why don't they just provide the series for free??

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell - A Decade in the Shadows

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell has been out of action for a decade, so it's time to look back at 2013's Splinter Cell: Blacklist.

CoNn3rB248d ago

Sam Fisher is evidently the most skilled stealth operative because no-one has seen him in his own game for years

kevco33248d ago

10 years, in fact. He must be, like, 60 by now?

phoenixwing248d ago (Edited 248d ago )

why make an inspired game that takes effort when you can half ass it with multiplayer gaas games and filler filled assassins creed games?

That question up there is the reason you don't see splinter cell games

zarbor248d ago

Yup, another example that Ubisoft has no idea what they are doing.

MIDGETonSTILTS17248d ago

The entire mark and execute system belonged in another game.

It’s cool, but the polar opposite to how Sam Fisher initially handled.

The original trilogy made shooting very, very difficult, yet a viable option, which ultimately motivates stealth.

The mark/execute system makes shooting stupid easy, to the point of why would you even bother trying stealth as an alternative?

FYouDad248d ago

Because Ghost is the method fans of the series actually prefer? IMark and execute is never forced upon the player you liiterally never have to bother using it even once throughout Blacklist.

Tody_ZA248d ago

The sad part is that I actually really enjoyed the last game, Blacklist. It may have lacked the iconic voice but the gameplay was excellent, and blended stealth, action and a mix really great compared to most games, where none of the three options felt like the wrong way to play. I really hope they either produce a remake of the original game or a proper sequel.

Rikimaru-00248d ago

Isn't UBI Soft remaking splinter cell.

No jokes Ubisoft, give us a new Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell game

Earlier this week, Julian Gerighty, creative director at Ubisoft, teased a new Splinter Cell game. The Ubisoft PR department said he was joking. Why, though, just give us a new Splinter Cell already

And a new prince of persia game

Razmiran1804d ago

Rayman and splinter cell first
Then we will see about PoP

Sam Fisher1804d ago

No micheal no buy (new that is)

EazyC1804d ago

Michael Ironside is actually vocally eager about playing Sam Fisher again, and indeed was in the last Ghost Recon's DLC.

CaptainOmega1804d ago

Game can’t just be ‘another Splinter Cell’.... it needs to go back to the Chaos Theory type Stealth... I hated Blacklist.

Vegamyster1804d ago

Blacklist wasn't perfect but it did a excellent job at giving you different options in the campaign, whether it was playing it like Chaos Theory or going all out assault. MP could have been balanced better and it needed Ironside but other than that it i thought it was a good game.

PhantomTommy1804d ago

I liked Blacklist, but if we get a trailer this E3 and it's just more of the Conviction/Blacklist style, I'll be hugely disappointed. There is a huge gap in the market for an old-school, hardcore stealth game like Thief or Chaos Theory. I want slow, methodical gameplay in non-linear environments -- I'm sick to death of convenient chest high cover and being able to mark enemies to see them through walls.
