I'm Not a Big Uncharted Fan

"I first played an Uncharted game about five years ago. I did not own a PS3 at the time, and it just so worked out that I was in a position to play through Uncharted 2 on friend’s console. I was beyond excited. Uncharted 2 was supposed to be incredible. After dozens of awards from all over the place, my expectations for the title were sky-high. After playing through the game, however, I was a little bit disappointed. The game was decent, no doubt, but I did not garner nearly the awe and amazement that so many other people felt.

Fast forward to the release of The Last of Us. Once again, Naughty Dog’s game releases to critical acclaim. There was a ton of hype surrounding the title’s release, and I caught onto the excitement. Furthermore, by this point I had already purchased a PS3 console, so I decided to pick up the Last of Us since I had a console to play on. After all, I had enjoyed many of Naughty Dog’s other games, maybe Uncharted 2 was the only one I wouldn’t like?" -- Playstation Enthusiast.

I'm not a big fan of FPS, maybe I should write an article about it. Oh wait, there hasn't been an internet-breaking FPS game yet.

K!
I'll wait...

Halo 6 will destroy the internet

solideagle2894d ago

I don't understand...if the author doesn't like it then who cares. why create a whole article to waste his and our time... (facepalm)

game4funz2894d ago

You assume the internet has been broken by a game before.
The internet is unbreakable.

Perjoss2894d ago

Not sure about internet breaking, but Doom and Overwatch are excellent, the more recent Wolfenstein was also very good, I love Uncharted but lets not pretend how its the only good game around, because that would be leaning way too heavily into fanboyism.

GamingIVfun2894d ago (Edited 2894d ago )

All these sites need to stop baiting people for hits. That is all this is. Shame.

Uncharted 4 is a great game, all the Uncharted games are great. Uncharted 4 would not have sold 2.7 million copies in it's first week if it weren't, and the game is still a number one seller. You can't say it was because of hype, if that were the case every game that Microsoft publishes would have shot to the moon in sales and the console would have quadrupled it's sales just on company hype and fanboy hype. Hype does not make a game successful, great games are successful because they are great.

Anyway, the hype for Uncharted 4 is based on previous games and the studeo that developed the game.

Bad games no matter the hype almost always under perform in sales.

Silly Mammo2894d ago (Edited 2894d ago )

"I predict lots of 9-10s the first few days. Then a week later the same critics will post articles nit picking and complaining about the game because they realize their site needs the clicks and they want some ubercool street-cred for being haters on a stellar game." - Me ~63 days ago

That one letter what passes for wit so so sharp and insightful worthy of being a comment at all, let alone the 'opening shot'?

Erik73572894d ago

I loved uncharted, dont know how you couldnt.

Now am I more of a fan of Last of Us? Yea but Uncharted is still dope

BossBattle2894d ago (Edited 2894d ago )

The last of us is my favorite PS4 game ever. But uncharteds are good too.

Utalkin2me2894d ago

Soon as he said dozens of awards i stopped reading. If people writing this stuff is so illiterate they have problems even properly researching stuff for a article. They need to stop skipping nap time before recess to write articles.

Aceman182894d ago

Well good for you author of this unless article lol.

Aceman182894d ago

Lol yea, my fat thumbs messed it up lol

BossBattle2894d ago

Yeah that spellchecker messes me up sometimes.

shinrock2895d ago

I have to agree. Great game, just not much to it.

Null19802895d ago (Edited 2895d ago )

Everything is easy to judge critically in hindsight many years later, as the rest of the industry has advanced. Complaining about a 2007 title not living up to 2016 gameplay standards is beyond silly. Even 2009, or 2011. The industry evolves a lot in 5 years, much less almost 10 (since the original).

"So, I have decided to pass on Uncharted 4"- So you didn't even play the new one, gave up on it because you played the originals many years after their release. Ok.

OB1Biker2894d ago

Hahaha
Thanks for that quote. I would have missed it since I did nt want to click.

Bathyj2894d ago

Actually he didn't play the original at all. He started on part 2. It's like he started on The Godfather II and said I don't like it, why is Al Pacino so serious? Who is Deniro playing? Why'd he kill his brother? This movie sucks because I don't get it. I better tell the internet years too late.

Null19802894d ago (Edited 2894d ago )

They said that they recently picked up the trilogy collection for $20 and played through them. Can't imagine any of them having the same impact if being played for the first time this year. (I know it says they played UC2 in 2011, but it sounds like they didn't touch the 1st and 3rd one until this year)

But yea, this article, at least its description here on N4G is deceptive. It leads the reader to believe they are talking about Uncharted 4, when in reality this is only a rant about Uncharted 1-3.

game4funz2894d ago

I thought the same for many who have only played part 3 of the witcher.

Bathyj2894d ago (Edited 2894d ago )

Oh, ok my bad. I didnt waste the click, I was going off the first paragraph. Its still not a very good way to enjoy a series where much of the appeal is the love of the characters and its increasing references to past exploits ei its own history. You would start Lord of the Rings on The Two Towers.

BossBattle2894d ago (Edited 2894d ago )

Uncharted 2 is the best Uncharted tho. So if that didn't impress him then I doubt the others will. They're just not for everybody.

The Uncharted games never appealed to me. I'm more of a sci-fi/fantasy guy so I like a little more of those qualities in my video games.

Yui_Suzumiya2894d ago

I'm the same way and even found the demo for Uncharted demo boring in 2008 but decided to give the full game a chance in 2009 when Uncharted 2 released and I loved it and all subsequent games since.

BLAKHOODe2894d ago

I love the Uncharted games, as well as the newest Tomb Raiders. Not just for the game play and characters, but I love the exotic locations these games generally take place in. I love exploring those worlds, because I have nothing like that where I live. So, it's a bit of an escape for me.

I'm not a big fan myself but having beat 4 I really appreciate its charm. I'm more of an ND fan and I really love the quality of their work. This includes Uncharted of course.

The best games of their generation too. Its incredible how great most if not all of playstations games are. Whether you like the stories or not you cant deny the quality of each title.

Hated tlou part 2. But im going to buy it when it is cheap enough because i want to play the remastered content for $10 extra dollars. Theyre adding a roguelike mode...thats going to be fun!
