XCOM 2 Review | IGN

IGN:
With a focus on variety and replayability, this sequel has an answer to most of my complaints about 2012’s excellent XCOM: Enemy Unknown, and aside from some mostly cosmetic bugs, it comes together brilliantly. Thanks to a new spin on the same great tactical combat, plus unpredictable maps and randomized objectives and loot, XCOM 2 is an amazing game I’ll easily put hundreds of hours into.

Great score indeed, but game of the year? Only time will tell my friend. If you're going by review scores so far the Witness is up there. Great start to the year that's for sure.

Hoffmann3007d ago

2016 will have 1-3 GOTY great games just every month I think. No matter if you are looking at Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, Third Party Companies..they all have some damn hot games coming out this year.

Grap3007d ago (Edited 3007d ago )

rating doesn't mean sh!t especially for ign, last year goty is the witcher 3 and it's 9.3 , while MGSV is 10/10(lol every time i see this score).

AliTheSnake13007d ago (Edited 3007d ago )

It will come to consoles though

AndrewLB3004d ago

@Grap

Witcher 3 was a far superior game regardless of how the fanboys try to claim differently.

Metacritic has the PC version of Witcher 3 at 93 and MGSV at 91 for that same platform. Thats a better indicator than the obviously skewed results on the PS4 version specifically because its a japanese developer.

edit\

I just checked out the review averages for console versions and MGSV got 93 on PS4 and 95 on xbone.

Gonna be some stiff competition this year.

Until Uncharted 4 comes out. Only on PS4

Can't pc games don't count until they get ported to consoles. Pc games get called trash and when they get ported they get the recognition they deserve. Case and point the witcher, moba, mmos, survival, rougelike, Minecraft and games like it. Console gamers usually contradict themselves for the sake of their masters

Am really happy to see that this old IP was revieed a few years ago with much success and continues to be great.

There are so damn many games people want to see to return in some form. With X-Com it happend and it is just great.

A real "feel-good" story for me as a fan of the series since the first game back in 1994.

Great start for PC gamers with ROTR and XCOM 2 in early 2016.

Two-Face3007d ago

Yeah, we also got The Witness, Dragon's Dogma and Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak.

All great games that are worthy of purchase.

frostypants3007d ago

@Pintheshadows, how is that game? It looks interesting.

TheColbertinator3007d ago (Edited 3007d ago )

Expected nothing less than brilliance from Firaxis

ShadowKnight3007d ago

I'm looking forward to playing this game!

The 5 best games on PlayStation Plus Premium that make subscribing worth it

The PS5 is an incredible console, and if you're lucky enough to have one, or have just received one for Christmas then you'll already know there is a host of great games out there.

What you may not be aware of is that if you subscribe to PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium, you'll actually get access to a huge catalogue of titles to play at any time. Many of which you can stream without having to do any downloads. If you have a PlayStation Portal you could even play these titles from your bed.

Abnor_Mal110d ago

Damn the only one I’ve played so far is Miles Morales, although I do own Control and Rift Apart.

ChasterMies110d ago

Odd list. Where is Horizon Forbidden West? Ghost of Tsushima? Demon’s Souls? Returnal? And fun indie games like Superliminal? Where’s “A Plage Tale Requiem” and “Evil West”, the current PS+ Essential offerings?

Exvalos98d ago

Evil west is underrated I'm having a really good time playing it.

juniorpop109d ago

Like seriously? Those are games Extra Tier can get - so not worth upgrading to Premium
