This is ridiculous. I can't group my own friends list without everyone knowing what table they're sitting at?

psychobabble3130d ago

I know, right? I wanted to make a group "Possibly a Sex Offender" for this weird guy I used to work with. Not now though, until they fix this at least.

NewMonday3130d ago

to late for me, I spammed a hundred friends and they spam me and each other

the beta testers should have brought this up with Sony

Aenea3130d ago

@newmonday

The beta testers did but Sony didn't budge :(

The idea on paper for this and communities was great, in reality they are rather useless...

TheLoCoRaven3129d ago

Sounds like you should do a sting and possibly take one for the team.

XisThatKid3129d ago

@newmonday
This was brought up several times. I for one was one of the people that really want to group friend on my friends list more than anything most people are clamoring for. Plus if you can group friends we can get that ridiculous request of friend notifications but done correctly like choose groups to get notified from

dantesparda3129d ago

Wow, does Sony even know what they are doing or how to program? People told them, over and over again, in the beta and yet they still didnt fix it because they are so slow and incompetent that they couldn't do anything about it fast enough. But to plug up a whole, oh that they're quick on.

Just ridiculous...man ......groupin is just impossible....

JamesBroski3129d ago

It's just a group chat. Freaking useless feature.

blackblades3129d ago

Sounds like party mode on vita. You enter one of those you get messages from everyone in there.

This isn't exactly new. Groups work like that. If you send a message to one person in the group, everyone gets it. And its been like that since day one. Its the same thing a group messages. The same thing. You do realize that you can just leave the group. But most of all this isn't new. And why would you make a group called People I hate, and then add people to that list. You added them to that group. No one would do this. So they can see that they have been invited to that group by you.

BlackPanther3130d ago

The issue is that this is badly implemented. For a community there should be a dedicated place for messaging as to not allow huge groups to overflow with spam.

You should be able to send a single message to someone and not everyone get it, that is bad design.

Also not everyone should be allowed to add people to the groups as well. The solution isn't to simply leave and not use this feature. Sony should improve it.

Great ideas can be poorly implemented.

isa_scout3130d ago

I completely agree. After messin around with this update for a bit I think it's not that substantial as we were led to believe. The community and PS Plus pages are cool, but that's about it. Also, is anyone else having trouble logging in to PSN this morning? My PS4 has froze up completely several times since updating to were I had to hold down the button on my PS4. Starting to worry that all these hard resets are going to damage my system.

Christopher3129d ago

You can send a single message to someone outside of the group but who is in the group. Two different message streams.

Am I missing something? I do this all the time.

freshslicepizza3130d ago

you're not actually defending this are you? having a tight group is one thing but you essentially have no control of the group. this sounds like remote access for everyone within that group.

Eonjay3129d ago

No, I'm saying its not new. The group messages setup have been there since day one. So it seems really late to peg this on 3.0. Group messages have always been annoying but its easy to leave and disable them.

NewMonday3130d ago

I thought "favorites" was just to organize a big friend list, I wanted to separate Destiny players from BF players, online friends from family ..etc

Wedge193129d ago

The issue is that it messages everyone the moment the grouping is created, letting them know they are in the group. It's group messaging, which we already had. I was hoping it would be an organization tool for our friends lists, not a fancier group message. in a whole new section that clutters up the OS.

I think this one need to to fix.

Harryseveruspotter3129d ago (Edited 3129d ago )

Yes true buddy i too think it requires a fix.....

Abnor_Mal3130d ago

I put individual people into groups by themselves with me only. Then I placed that same person into a group with others. If anything if I message them in the private group, two can be a group right, it shouldnt notify anyone else. Now the communities with thousands of people get annoying fast from all the notifications. Then when i try to check what was posted i dont see anything. Another friend said its cause i was "promoted", what ever that is cause i wasnt aware that it happened. After awhile i turned community notifications off, a few minutes later I quit all the communities I joined. Problem solved. Although another friend said he was still getting notifications after he left communities.

They can't get their software right at all. This is one of the main reasons I sold my ps4.
