I can't wait either. I don't mind the current UI, but it can be sluggish. Did you know that if you hold down LT, RT, and Y simultaneously, and then release all three while on the dashboard that it will refresh the dash if it's acting sluggish?

Heck yeah the future for xbox is exciting. XB1 beta tested in the future, and its starting to show. Its architecture lends itself more towards future rendering techniques which is why we have seen xbox struggle a bit with games still using old gen engines and tech.

Xbox with Windows 10 and dx12 has a very bright future indeed!

Well it's gotta be better than it's windows 8 interface which is very slow and boring. The live tiles were a good idea, but they're not live tiles like it is on PC.

windows 7 Is awesome, but 10 is just way ahead of anything else. I cant see myself ever going back. curious, what kind of bugs are you having? Because I don't have a single issue so far, neither does my friend besides trying to get party chat to work from PC to XB1.

All my old drivers don't work or not compatible to Windows 10, I couldn't root certain things anymore I had to go back to Linux. Window's 10 feels more restricted than ever before especially for PC gamers. PC gamer's are not gonna like that because they love the freedom to do whatever they want. Windows 10 is a lot like Apple OS now

many drivers can be installed in compatibility mode.. kind of a work around in some case..

for instance... Pro Tools|First isnt supported by win10 yet but i have it working..

cant speak on the gaming end as its not what i do on my PC anymore..

im running a laptop from 2009/2010 that (acer aspire 7540g) originally ran on win 7 home prem and upgraded to windows 10 without a single problem, all drivers work flawlessly and everyone in my family upgraded to with no issues. either ur using really old components or cheap parts.

Agreed. I don't get the disagrees. Lots of my games don't work on Win 10, though most do, some games have lots of issues and some won't even play. I have a another HDD for Win 10 JUST based on KNOWING off the bat it would have issues.

This isn't Win 7 vs Win 10, its old established and stable OS vs New buggy OS.

Win 10 has a lot of pluses, but I still need to actually do work, edit videos, edit art work on Photoshop, games etc.

Mind you...all that I listed had many issues on Win 10 to the point where I just put my old Win 7 HDD as my main Boot up during the Bios screen.

Its not a bad OS, it merely needs time to become stable. That can be said about any damn OS so those who like Win 10.....thats fine, you guys merely don't do enough to see those issues.

Some had issues with Skyrim like crashes, I had them with Fallout New Vegas as I tested it on Win 10, it crashed so many times I just gave up and stopped using it, with fraps I got like 4 fps or so increase then from Win 7, but not enough to deal with so many crashes that I can't even play the game.

I'll go back to Win 10 when Sea Of Thieves and Halo come to it.

Maybe he means XB1 has things like:

Backward compatibility, external HDD option, snap for multitasking, Friend notification, cloud Live compute, unlimited cloud saves, more exclusives he likes better, controller preference, like the online network better. Just a guess but I think that is most likely the case with him and many others as well.

@Rookie ...plus coming universal apps, a faster UI on top of an already awesome UI, plus crossplay/crossbuy, streaming, multiple options for HMD's...including the only AR device, Cortana (which allows for things such as natural speech party invites and such), and Project Irides that may be used to allow the powerful Occulus to perform full VR on the X1.

@Pistols i would Hope it would have a faster UI with Windows 10 because it's slow on the XBONE now. Snap is a good idea but it's slow and annoying to use when you're waiting on it to load, friendlist to load. External HDD is a nice perk and BC is nice too but won't move the meter for extra sales.

@Cohagen below...what I think would COMPLETELY turn things on it's head is if they announce a fully functioning Steam app/store....with DX12 making porting extremely easy, it'd be sweet if they had it so that everything available on Steam was able to play on X1....it'd open millions more customers to STEAM and X1/MS could charge a small percentage to make it profitable....then all the sudden humble-bundle deals would be a thing as well. (As an added bonus, instantly about 90% of PS4 exclusives would no longer be exclusives, and in certain cases, they would end up landing on X1 first anyway).

Spoken like a true fanboy. Exclusives are what differentiate consoles. I have seen nearly every XBONE fan (including yourself) spout on and on about the 'lack of exclusives on PS4' and how the XBONE exclusive lineup is blowing it away etc etc etc

I can understand and agree with being excited for the new UI, cloud, DX12 etc All legit things to be excited about.

But now this. Keep moving them goalposts son.

Why cant you accept ps4 is the better system.. Yes i do own a xbox one, exclusive s on xbox are the reason and ea access. If you get a ps4 you will notice the diffrence.

why does the article talk about communicating with friends on windows 10 like it's a new feature? i've been doing that for years on the 360 and simply logging in to xbox.com with my gamer tag...
yes, through xbox.com i can see which of my friends are online with their corresponding avatars what games they are playing and send them a message. i could also buy games and que them up for download so that when i get home and turn on the 360 the download begins...so i wonder, why does the writer talk about it like it's something new to look forward to?... i understand that maybe it might be easier and has a new look but the basic features are not anything new.

you can join in a party or host a party from your win 10 pc and talk to friends who are playing the x1. that's what they mean by communicating not just sending messages from xbox.com

That feature is the one thing me and my friend can not figure out. everytime we send eachother invites the host always shows up as connecting. not sure if this is a bug on win 10 but we haven't been able to resolve this issue. not sure if you have any input as how to make it work?

While your at it seeing as you know so much can you explain how a dual core cpu with a mere 1gb of ram in the iphone can outperform an android device with literally twice even 3 times the specs??? Its called architecture/hardware design and software. Comparing mere numbers on paper do NOT tell the full story so please give it a rest.

And just so you know, software can actually overcome large gaps in physical hardware. Tiled resources picture large files compressed down needing less bandwidth resulting in more efficient use of hardware. This tech is what xb1 is designed to use along with dx12 and thats just the tip of the iceberg.

Xbox already has a low level api so the gains are going mostly to PC. Xbox will benefit on the CPU side mostly.

I think fr9m everything I've read that small improvements will be made on both sides through software.

Ugh theres a LOT more to it than just being low level... Dx12 is about much much more than that. Not to mention the architecture of the xb1 with ddr3 + esram and split rendering capabilities of its gpu being split in two sections with 2 gfx command processors along with having a faster cpu and co processors ect... Theres so much more to the equation than just mere gpu numbers that in all honesty the ps4 cant use to the fullest anyway due to other tasks taking up resources along with having a slower cpu and its main memory being graphics memory so it lacks in other areas where ddr3 excels.

The two systems are so different yet so similar in what they can achieve. The difference is xbox one spreads its load and does things smarter more efficiently whereas ps4 takes the raw power approach resulting in higher numbers on paper making fanboys think its way more powerful when they are pretty much the same in reality.

A big advantage of ps4 taking the raw power approach is it has been easier for devs to extract power from early this gen and has been more favourable to old gen software techniques and engines and this is why some multiplats have a slight advantage on ps4.

With newer/updated engines and dx12 especially this will no longer be the case in future. We are already seeing many new aaa games being exactly the same on both playforms.

2016 is where things start to really get interesting.

Universal apps are the best thing to me. If a developer chooses to do so any game they make for PC can work on Xbox. That alone will increase the number of games Xbox has a nd increase the amount of revenue a developer can expect. At very little extra cost.
