This ain't going to go well lol

XBLSkull3178d ago (Edited 3178d ago )

Actual 900p? Yes, provided you are on a 1080p display you would notice the black bars that go unfilled (aka The Order). 900p upscaled to 1080p... it's barely noticeable, if at all. The 1080p image will look barely sharper, and unnoticeable when a game is in motion and you aren't looking at a screenshot.

sactownlawyer9163177d ago

Nice spin. I wonder if ps4 was 900p and upscaled if you would say the same thing. I sincerely doubt it.

SCW19823177d ago

Good to see your back spreading your bull Skull, after the metal gear 1080p on Xbox article being proved false you went dark for a bit. Always get a laugh out of your 12 year old antics. Keep em coming.

brish3177d ago (Edited 3177d ago )

This site has games running at 720p, 900p, and 1080p scaled to 1080p

http://www.dualshockers.com...

See if you can spot the difference!

TFJWM3177d ago (Edited 3177d ago )

I know I can see the difference...How I know is when AC4 was released on PS4 I was like this is blurry for a 1080p game, looked it up and it was 900p upscaled. Once the patch came out it was alot clearer...

TFJWM3177d ago

Also the order ran at 1920x800, 900p is 1600x900 which with a reg HD 16:9 will fill it with no black bars..1080 is 1920x1080 which will also fill a 16:9 screen with just more pixels

NinjaNick3177d ago

Sony trolls have eyes better than eagles. They can notice the difference between 1079p and 1080p on a 10-inch screen from 20 feet away. Spot the missing pixels is the name of the game for them!

And people like to think they can see the difference between 900 and 1080 on a TV from a NORMAL viewing distance, but you can't. Simply because you can't see the pixels of either res at 6-10 feet on an average tv.

PC monitor is the only exception because it's 2 feet from your face.

VJGenova3176d ago

I'm going to play this with my pc at 3840x2160. People say they can't tell the difference between 1080p and 2160p. They are called "blind" people.

SquidBuck3176d ago

The black bars were the developers choice.

sonarus3176d ago

As a Ps4 owner i dont care about these debates cus i know i always get the best stuff.

PS: No interest in pc gaming. Thanks

Dannylew3176d ago

the order is 21:9 Ultrawide Cinemascope Aspect Ratio.. that nothing have to do with this 900p.

donthate3176d ago

Resolution is the least noticeable thing this generation. Stable frame rate is way more important.

That is why it is a shame that PS4 is focusing on resolution, because their customers are constantly chanting it. There have been numerous cases where a stable frame rate could have been achieved, but instead the game performs badly. Even compared to a lower resolution Xbox One version that has better frame rate.

Yup, a lot of chumps traded stable frame rate for resolution! Idiots!!!

northpaws3176d ago

I am curious, for those who say there are no differences between 900p and 1080p, are the developers who make 1080p games for Xbox one doing something stupid then? Since they are wasting resources on resolution instead of graphic effects, perhaps you all need to start a petition, let them know you guys don't want any 1080p games, since there are no differences.

GMR_PR3176d ago

There is a difference no doubt but its a small difference. Games look slightly sharper when they are 1080p.

Neonridr3178d ago

It's the placebo effect unfortunately. People will believe they are seeing a better image even if it's impossible based on their distance from the image or the size of their TV.

PC gaming has the most benefit for differences in resolution because on average you are sitting a mere couple of feet away from the screen.

The game will still be the same for both Xbox and Playstation gamers, so in the end, everyone will win with a great experience.

FPS will be more of a determining factor if one is offering a stable framerate vs the other having a varying fluidity.

VerdicLinwe3177d ago

Just because you need a pair of glasses doesn't mean we all do buddy. I can clearly see the difference no problems at all. I would have to be sitting 17 feet back and at a 42" or smaller display to not notice it. (My living room TV is that far back and a 55" - 900p from AC Unity on PS4 wasn't very noticeable. Episode Duscae Demo wasn't as noticeable at that distance either. On my 42" on my desk at 3 feet away I can very easily see things like that and aliasing.

NinjaNick3177d ago (Edited 3177d ago )

That's absolutely, positively, false. There are many charts and guidelines done on the average distance that a person can distinguish pixels and higher detail on tv, and 17 feet is sure as hell not it. It's more like closer than 4 feet..

I have good eyesight and i ran some tests on a 40-inch 1080P tv. I put my xbox 360 to output 720P on Geometry Wars 2 and sat back 6 feet from the tv, as it upscaled it to the 1080 native screen res, and then I put the xbox into full 1080 native and played the same game, and there was no visible difference at that distance. Not any blurrier and I couldn't see the pixels. Only at 4-3 feet did I start to see the difference in 720 upscaled to 1080 and native 1080..

SUCKxITxEZ3177d ago

These people need to play advanced warfare on Xbox one. Is has a dynamic resolution that switches between 900p and 1080p. Start up zombies, run in a circle, then stand still for 3 seconds and you can clearly see it switch from 900p to 1080p, or need glasses.

Neonridr3174d ago

of course you can see those differences at a distance of 3 feet. You are 3 freaking feet from the TV screen. Which I might add is probably not very good for your eyes with a screen that big.

There have been countless studies not to mention the fact that your eyes have a finite precision when it comes to differentiating pixels.

But whatever, if you think you are above medical science, then go nuts buster brown.

DafunkyRebel3177d ago

which is why PC gamers are always blind and fat cause they sit alot....and very close

VerdicLinwe3176d ago (Edited 3176d ago )

Genius!!

quaneylfc3176d ago

I don't get the voting system in these comments.

I'm not a PC gamer but if someone who is implies that the graphics are better on their format, I'm inclined to agree.

Spotie3176d ago

Unless their vision is poor, it's not impossible. Has nothing to do with a placebo.

It DOES have to do with familiarity with the differences, though.

Back before I got a PS3 and an HD TV to match, I couldn't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p. I just knew they were both MUCH better than the 480p I'd spent years looking at. Once I got used to the higher resolutions, though, I could spot the differences in an instant.

All this "People can't tell the difference" stuff is based on that. I mean, how long has 900p been a thing? Certainly not long enough that most people would be used to it. Add in that it's frequently upscaled- something that didn't always happen to 720p- and it makes recognition that much more difficult.

There's a world of difference between a curveball and a slider. But until you know what to look for, all you know is that it's not a straight pitch.

jmc88883176d ago

Wrong.

Viewing distance is a sliding scale not an absolute.

I.E. When morons say you don't see a benefit for 1080p unless you have a 40" or larger. They are morons.

I.E. When idiots say you don't see a benefit for 4k unless you have a 55" or larger. They are idiots.

Distance... same thing.

There is such a thing as OPTIMAL size and distance, but you still get MASSIVE benefits even if you are way outside those optimal lines.

For instance. Take a cellphone. Most people have 3-6 inch screens and hold it 1 1/2-3 feet away, and so by the morons measure, you shouldn't see anything better if it's 480p or thereabouts. But as we all know, you can see even on tiny cellphone the benefits of a 720 screen, 1080, even 4k. So it's pretty funny when 4k makes a difference on a phone, but people expect it not to on anything less then a 55".

Just like the human eye doesn't see frames, but it has been shown that light variations are notice at well over 600 FPS, and with actual images, USAF pilots could see and recognize exactly what type of plane was flashed to them for one frame that lasted 1/220th of a second...which would correspond to 1 frame running at 220 FPS.

Also PC's aren't all only a couple feet away. With a 39" 4k capable of 136hz input at 1080p, I sit in a recliner about 4 feet away, others have bigger screens and sit on their couches. PC and Consoles can be done the same way. They both can use HDMI.

It's not a placebo effect. Sorry, not even close.

Neonridr3174d ago

so you sit 4 feet away.. how is that not "a few" feet? Does that statement automatically end after 3 feet or something?

A TV would have to be over 50" at a distance of 10 feet or greater otherwise your eyes cannot distinguish the individual pixels.. that is not an opinion, that is the science of your eyes. The pixels become so small at that distance that your eyes cannot pick up one to the next, so they blend together.

If you can see the differences, then congrulations, you are in the .001% of the world and should be using your superpowers for something greater than playing videogames.

for sure Pc will have the Biggest difference

but in the end the game will look great on all platforms and everybody will enjoy it

warczar3176d ago

I won't be able to enjoy it unless my visual experience is better than yours. /s

DEEBO3178d ago

I don't care what gamers play this on just play it.

If you only have a xbox one cool cause you still going to have fun.

They even got it to run on the 360/ps3 at 720p so this masterpiece doesn't get miss.

Too bad it was a lazy release. They could've updated the visuals and everything. Missed opportunity.

...and yet, they couldn't give more respect and effort into the collection.
What a terrible company.

Yea I don’t get why they’re allowing old reviews to be posted here. Someone did one on Soul Reaver and I got so excited thinking there was some stealth release of an HD Remaster, but no… it’s just someone who had a slow day posted an old review…

Cacabunga191d ago

I liked the game but for me it felt somehow like a military simulator rather than a proper MGS.. i got bored of that

micdagoat19191d ago

I do wish they would remaster all the soul reavers

micdagoat19191d ago

it was done this morning though

goldwyncq191d ago

The author was in a coma for 9 years and didn't get to play the game when it released.

Chocoburger191d ago

This review arrived just in time for launch. Perfect timing!

RupeeHoarder191d ago

Amazing how bad this game looks already. We keep acting like this gen doesn't feel like an update but I think we're starting to see it.

YourMommySpoils191d ago

Looks better than Starfield, Cyberpunk and most recent games out. Still fine.

RupeeHoarder191d ago

It most certainly does not lol.

andy85191d ago

Have you player Cyberpunk since the first day? It's absolutely stunning now

1nsomniac191d ago

One of the worst games ever made. Absolute overhyped trash!

Snowb420191d ago

The gameplay was great. It was the tacked on open world and repetitive missions that messed the game up.

Shane Kim191d ago

The game started really strong in that hospital, but after a couple of hours I wondered if it was even an mgs game I was playing.

KyRo190d ago

The hospital section was the only bit that felt like a MGS game.

MGS4 was the ending for me. I totally ignore the fact 5 exists. It didn't need to exist tbh
