Female video game characters Vs realistic proportions

There has been a lot of talk about female video game characters and realistic body proportions as of lately. And due to the fact that I (Robin Ek The Gaming Ground) almost died because of obesity. I felt like I could add some value to the subject.

I´m not the person that tends to spy or listen to what others say in private, but at the gym it´s kind of hard NOT to hear stuff. And yes, it´s brutal man. I honestly had no idea that women could be so cruel to each other.

Yep, and it's not only the looks. Even my super feminist cousin said that female boss/female worker setup doesen't work because of the backstabbing and jealousy. She leads a software team and said that if you give any feedback that is not positive to a female worker they take it personally and it easily leads to a lot of shit talking and toxicity. Her team is full of men these days.

I guess I'm really naive to what goes on in the gym. I pop my headphones and go to work. Sure I'll glance here and there if a fit woman is near.

If I see a guy who's doing something awesome in the gym like using his body weight to work his core then right on! Cool stuff. I think that's the general attitude of guys.

Is there a follow up article about Male Videogame Characters compared to Realistic Men? I suggest they start with Gears of War. All I know is female cosplay tends to look much more accurate than male cosplay...esp being that one of the characters that gets singled out the most.. Lara Croft looks almost exactly like the girl that plays her...and the handful of models that played her before like Rhona Mitra and Nell McAndrew.

Moral of the story is that we should get rid of any character that makes people with image issues feel uncomfortable....don't fix your own problems...just hide them, and make those around you do the same. /s

Being jealous of what someone else looks like (which is REALLY where all of this stems from) doesn't have to be a crutch, it could be motivation.

Interesting. I feel like exposure to bleeding edge "pinnacle of mankind" characters has had a positive influence on my outlook. It like, "Whoa that's awesome, i want to be more like that!", then i go run into a wall and say i'm doing parkour or something.

Maybe realistic if we are talking about overweight women? Or do you really think an actual mountain climber or martial artist wouldn't have a body like lara croft or crhistie?, with the exception of the boob size.

May be it's US realistic proportions, but not in my country. Of course we have obese people but closer to older age, not young ladies like that on the photos. Shame! Shame!

To suggest the only reason this comes up is due to jealousy is an oversimplification at best.
eg: nobody wishes they looked like the floaty balloon boobed witch in Dragons Crown, etc.

I love Dragons Crown, Soul Calibur, etc.. I like their character designs, personally. But that's irrelevant.

The weird thing about this article is it pitches obesity vs eating disorders. Of course a bulemia site is going to try to normalise an attainable body image to their readership. Eating disorders are a problem too (it's not a competition though, haha.)

Oddly this comparison is not made with male characters at all. In any media. Magazines, games, TV are all filled with fit men. They are not called out for being unrealistic. Guess what... Fit people exists, photoshop exists... Changing these images does nothing positive or makes them more realistic.
