Is the Wii U still for you?

It seemed that after regaining the trust and recognition of gamers from a strong and rejuvenating 2014, Nintendo regressed at E3. However, despite this clearly abhorrent presentation, I am still looking forward to the remainder of 2015 for my Nintendo indulgence. While Nintendo may not be flooding the market with titles, what they are releasing will be quality games.

* Yoshi, Mario Maker, Xenoblade & Legend of Zelda are all going to be good solid games worth buying and worth owning a Wii U for.

* Aside from that...like beyond that I don't really know....WE don't really know.

I'm keeping mine for those games though.

NukaCola3209d ago

I bought one about a year ago and I don't like it at all. Some of the games like WW HD, Smash and the Mario titles are cool, but the system is underpowered, the tablet is stupid, and it's not fun to have on. I am saddened this system came and gone with such disappointing run.

iamnsuperman3209d ago (Edited 3209d ago )

I really do not recommend anyone getting a Wii U now. With the NX on the horizon and Nintendo's commitment to at least be backward compatible with the last system I would wait to see what they offer. Regardless with what comes out between now and then

DragoonsScaleLegends3209d ago (Edited 3209d ago )

If you care about Wii backwards compatibility or Wii U games you should get a Wii U because if they go with hardware more similar to PS4 or XB1 it most likely won't be backwards compatible. If it's not going to be on their levels of power I don't see any reason for them to make a new console because it will just fail again for the same reasons. I love my Wii U but I still like my SNES and GCN way more.

iamnsuperman3209d ago

My point is there will be a possibility. Any possibility is worth waiting to see if it becomes true

Ark_3209d ago

I wouldn't be so sure about backwards compatiblity, since we really don't know what NX will be.

But I understand why ppl are hesitant now and wait ... On the other hand, if someone doesn't find enough games worth their time on WiiU now, then they will propably find not enough games in the future anyway.

An argument based on the assumption that the NX will be a replacement for the Wii U contrary to what was announced as well as telling all customers to ignore every Wii U game that comes out for the next two years not matter what.

Yea, not really lining up with reality here. Sounds like personal bias/spreading rumors as truth to me.

MNGamer-N3208d ago

I don't think it will be possible for NX to be backwards compatible due to to the Wii U tablet.

Its got a few good games, but not much coming out.

Rookie_Monster3209d ago

If the next Zelda is only going to be on,the Wii U instead of the NX, I have no choice but to find a way to buy a cheap used WII U to play just that one game. But hopefully it will be a launch title for NX so it will never have to come down to that. With the exception of Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, and Xenoblade Chronicles, I have no interest in any of the games on it...that also from me seeing the new Star Fox and Metroid. Very disappointing to say the least.

Yes. Just finish playing an hour of Earthbound. About to play some Smash Bros. which existed because Iwata.

TheFirstClassic3209d ago

The Nintendo exclusives have experiences you can't get anywhere else, so I still reccomend a wii u as a secondary console.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory3209d ago

I dont get the disagrees I got.

I answered the question. By saying yes as in for me.

Wii U games that still haven't been ported to Switch

The Nintendo Switch is potentially nearing its lifespan, and several Wii U games haven't found their way over as ports yet.

I think it's better to leave games like AC: Amiibo Festival and Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash forgotten on the Wii U. Best case, they are mediocre games; worse case, they are very bad. It was a dark time for the Wii U, and the first only exists to sell Amiibo cards, whereas the second was put together in a couple of months with a shoestring budget, and it shows.

The rest of the list does have some really cool games, though. I would love to see a remake of Star Fox Zero with decent controls, and Xenoblade X doesn't require that much modification to work.

How would XCX work without dual screens functionality?

Cacabunga4d ago

Same as Paper Mario color splash. One of the best wiiu games and getting even better with dual screen. Same reason why i prefer Splatoon 1

This article leaves out Nintendo's most controversial game to date devils Third.
I personally found the cover system really fun in that one compared to at the time most fps games completely lacking one.

Stevonidas4d ago

Devil's Third is HIGHLY underrated.

repsahj4d ago

They should remake Starfox to the switch 2. Very beautiful game during gamecube days.

Chocoburger4d ago

Kirby is always ignored or forgotten by people, so good to see it mentioned here.
Play Kirby Canvas Curse on DS, and then play Rainbow Curse on Wii U, they're really fun and unique 'platformers' without any actual jumping.
