Mass Effect Andromeda Finally Gets a Stunning Debut Trailer

We have waited and waited, hoped to see it many times before, but we got just a featurette last year. Today, During Electronic Arts’s E3 2015 Press Conference, the BioWare finally showcased the debut of the new Mass Effect game.

Despite not seeing his face I thought it was Shepard...I mean he was still alive in one of the endings in ME3, did we ever find out what happened to him

Anyway hopefully this is like the first ME...with cool down weapons.

Abriael3237d ago

I actually expected to see a little more, but boy, I'm pumped.

Bioware had confirmed a long time ago that this will be a new trilogy, and won't feature any characters from the original trilogy.

-Foxtrot3237d ago

Shame. I mean Shepard is someone who we create, something we will do again with the new character. I don't see why they couldn't of featured him again.

Oh well. Long as they make it more like the first game and not the sequels.

I want an RPG in space, not a third person over the top shooter.

Summons753237d ago

They also said it was a pre-quel and then changed their mind and said it was a sequel set a few years after ME3...and don't forget all the promises and lies from the original Trilogy. Simple mindset when dealing with Bioware, expect the complete opposite of what they promise and keep expectations low so you can truly enjoy the game. That said, can't wait...hopfully it won't be anything like Mass Effect 3 and everything like 1

DOMination-3237d ago

They have NEVER said it was a sequel or prequel. They have also never said this was a new trilogy although I hope it will become one.

Xavior_Reigns3237d ago

Yeah I definitely preferred the cool down weapons from ME1. In ME2 & 3 the change was likely done to draw in other shooter fans and make them feel at home. If anything, they should've kept the cool down part and had it where you could switch out the heat sinks, but never worry about running out of ammo.

-Foxtrot3237d ago

For me the difference between cool down and thermal clips was huge

Mass Effect - I carefully planned my battles and where I was on field.

I also carefully selected my squad mates so they made up for abilities and skills that I didn't have on my class.

I also used them very wisely in battle especially when my weapons were charging and made sure to always keep an eye on when I could use their biotics and abilities

Mass Effect 2/3 - I literally didn't do any of that and I could easily rush into battle and shoot my way out of most situations.

There was no planning and I didn't need to check my squad mates at all.

That's because of silly ammo making it like a third person shooter

showtimefolks3237d ago

I was hoping that we see a gameplay demo, as a mass effect fan I am very excited. But this game is coming in 2016, so we will see something in 2015, either at gamescom or playstation event

Either way the trailer was great, make the wait that much harder

mysterious_warrior3237d ago

A game about shepard and his crew helping to clean up the galaxy after the reaper threat would have been great..

-Foxtrot3237d ago

The mission is to find new worlds for those who lost theirs in the attack while fending off parts of Cerberus and a villain who wanted the Reapers to wipe life out.

Docknoss3237d ago

The fact that ghost riders in the sky was the theme song. Makes me think Shepard is coming back.

Was hoping to see gameplay. Also, how did humans manage to travel to Andromeda?

aLiEnViSiToR3236d ago

What makes you think there were no humans there already...

SaveFerris3236d ago

Do you mean another 'Earth' with a lifeform identical to humans that just happened to develop at the same technological rate right down to having an N7 logo on the armour? Mind blown.

GigawattConduit3237d ago

I'm so excited to explore this universe again. Love this franchise to death.

Perjoss3237d ago

Really not impressed with the EA showcase so far, the whole thing just feels like a big commercial. They can really learn a lot from Bethesda imo.

_-EDMIX-_3237d ago

....companies market differently, it really isn't a one size fits all. EA is a bigger publisher that needs to focus attention to much more IPs, Bethesda is much smaller and can show more focus on their main games.

Though I don't care for EA's press event, I don't just fault them completely for it. They sorta have a huge diverse library to show games from. Sports, kids, MMO's, RPGs etc.

I'm ok with what they showed, not the best, but I don't really care to judge events as it really boils down to the games.

I want Mass Effect, will get Star wars BF, will get Mirrors Edge, sold me on Unravel.

Perjoss3237d ago (Edited 3237d ago )

I don't have a problem with the games from EA, ok I don't care about mobile and sports games are not for me either but I cant argue about the quality of the titles even though they don't interest me.

My problem is the way they deliver information about the games, there's no soul, it all feels like it was so carefully scripted for maximum sales, they do this amazing thing where they talk about new features without actually talking about them at all, they just drop a load of hints and use a ton of buzzwords.

Loved it when Bethesda mentioned their staff back at base and how important they are. And then they went on to talk about the origins of DOOM and how important it was to all FPS games that came after it.

My advice to EA would be to use less celebrities and bring more real developers to promote the games, its just more personal.

Lamboomington3237d ago (Edited 3237d ago )

Seriously. Good Lord it was boring. Come onstage, tell everyone exactly what will show and when.

Come on stage, talk extensively about the game, and the philosophies behind it, and gameplay, and shit, while showing some pictures, or some gameplay if we're lucky. Then, after spending all the time doing that, show a short trailer with very little gameplay in it.

Atleast for Battlefront they did a good job with the gameplay. Unfortunately, they also spent 10 minutes before that talking about Star Wars and this and that, and explaining how you can 'do this amazing thing' and 'do that amazing thing' and how 'real' it feels, while showing pictures on screen.

Their whole presentation format sucks imo. Bethesda must have really spoiled us.

Number-Nine3237d ago

if its coming out in 6 months how about some gameplay

-Foxtrot3237d ago

Again announcing something way too soon. Should of been revealed at the VGA show then a full reveal at E3 2016.

Bethesda knows how to do it. Announce it at E3, release it 5 months later

Tony-Red-Grave3237d ago

For a second I thought your comment was mine :o. I normally use that Garl Vinland picture everywhere else lol.

_-EDMIX-_3237d ago

@Fox- why? I'm sorry but they can market how they feel. Some games do it well in 6 months, some games can afford to market longer.

LMFAO! I'm sorry but a year is some how "way too soon"?

Please bud, I'm sorry but 6 months reveal and release is not the norm. Bethesda being a smaller publisher can do that and I personally like it.....but its not a one size fits all. I'm very much ok with 6 months, I'm ok with a year marketing or longer too, it depends on the IP. EA can afford to market longer and what does it matter when they tell you its coming out?

If they feel fine with a year, so be it. This game wasn't even announced as it was ALREADY CONFIRMED LAST YEAR! Your merely just hearing them say they are ready for a release in 2016 fall.

Could Bethesda not have known last year that Fallout 4 was a year away? If they feel they can do a 6 month announce and release, sure....but again, that is not a one size fits all.

We knew about Mass Effect, knew about Mirrors Edge, hell we saw some of Bioware's new IP when they where showing some of the tech last year.

Let them, they market how they feel and I don't see it hurting anyone really. Mass Effect Andromeda is coming next fall....it being pushed spring or even fall 2017 doesn't some how make me want it less.

I play games because they are fun, not based on when they were announced to me, it has zero effect on me buying it or not. We all knew Fallout 4 was being made, it was pretty much the biggest unspoken secret in gaming for some time, hell we knew about the Boston location for a long, long time...it could be releasing fall 2016 and I would still want it regardless.

Fallout 3 was announced in 2007, released in 2008......yet I lived lol. Its not that big of a deal as much as folks keep making it sound like. Todd Howard stated he did it based on personally not liking to wait for games, then hearing delays etc.

Thus...it was based on personal preference, it was not based on some huge strategic marketing ploy to change the face of marketing for gaming. Every time he's asked, its never about business, never about marketing, merely about him personally wanting it.

I must have lost a year if Holiday 2016 is in 6 months.

Mass Effect Companions, Ranked from Worst to Best

From Xfire: "BioWare's Mass Effect franchise took gamers on a fascinating universal sci-fi journey that will never be forgotten. While fighting against the ever-looming threat of the Reapers was central to Mass Effect's storyline, what made the series so iconic was its vast and diverse cast of characters.

Not only do these companions accompany Commander Shepard as you make your way through hell and back, but, throughout your journey, you also get to learn who these characters were and are and what they think about what it is that you are doing. Some will even fall in love with you, and others will even become your enemy based on your decision."

sourOG1078d ago

When I looked at the list I thought they were saying Garrus was the worst lol. And tali being so far down the list was fighting words for me. But the numbered list is just the order they are shown so you are forgiven.

CYALTR1077d ago

I think they listed them from worst to best. Also keep in mind that this includes Andromeda characters that aren't part of the remastered trilogy. Interesting refresh on the characters though.

sourOG1077d ago

They did but I didn’t realize it until I started reading. That’s just the order they are shown.

Knightofelemia1078d ago (Edited 1078d ago )

I couldn't stand Miranda I could never like her as a character and I always skipped Jacob and James. I always liked Grunt, Jack, Legion, Tali, Garrus, Samara, Liara, Wrex, Edi, Zaeed, Kasumi I always use these characters. Using Martin Sheen as the Illusive Man just fits the character like using Keith David as Admiral Anderson was another good choice always feels like Goliath from Gargoyles is yelling at you which I like.

Rebel_Scum1077d ago

Kinda weird having a question mark at the end of that sentence?

Soy1077d ago

Garrus is best space bro.

Mass Effect: Andromeda in 2021

Zahi AR. from Link Cable Gaming writes “Welcome back Link Cable Gaming fans, with me in andromeda. Specifically, Mass Effect: Andromeda in 2021. With the recent announcement of Anthem shutting down its future plans, I wanted to look at another recent BioWare game. My switch to a PlayStation 5 destroyed my save file right while I was at the end. So, I decided to do a fresh start on the new console to see just how well (or not) it’s been since launch. How has the new generation of hardware treated the game that fell from grace? Should you play Mass Effect: Andromeda in 2021? Let’s find out.”

Such a good game! It got a 4K X1X upgrade and it looks fantastic! Also like the story! Was playing it again before Series X dropped. Going to download it for the Series X, as soon as I have more room on my HD. Playing too many other games right now.

Instant resume is AMAZING! I can Switch between 5 games in seconds. Like 10 to 15 at the most! No closing a game and opening another one! Thank you Microsoft!

giovonni1143d ago

It’s was decent to me. I didn’t feel the magic I felt when I played two or even three. I don’t know. It was repetitive, and the worlds felt bland.

jeromeface1143d ago

There's a reason it reviewed so poorly in the first place... these reasons among others.

anast1143d ago

I had a lot of fun with this game, but I haven't played 2 or 3 yet.

giovonni1143d ago

2 was wonderful, three was just as good as two the ending though 🤦🏾‍♂️

Wintersun6161142d ago

I finally gave it a go last autumn and was amazed by how bad a game can be. And believe me my expectations were low. After 10ish hours I just had to give up.

giovonni1142d ago

I powered through it, myself. It was just repetitive, and the Land Rover Exploration wasn’t interesting at all. The story also we mahhhhhhh.
