Neverwinter review: MMO woman, MMO cry | LazyGamer

If you've been waiting for an MMO on Xbox One, this is an easy recommendation. It's not particularly deep or intricate, but there's enough content to keep you busy for a long while. The frame rates are a significant problem, but probably won't deter anyone from playing the game.

Oh, God... that attempt at play on words in the title...

I played Neverwinter on PC when it was in alpha, beta, and release. It's a solid MMO if you like that type of stuff. Though, I really hated the multiple currencies in the game and it could get a bit annoying and felt a little unnecessary to me.

Currency system is pretty annoying as have regular in-game copper/silver/gold/etc, region oriented random token drops to buy regional items, daily quest/dungeon cash, boss/region token purchased coins, real world Zen Marketplace cash, Bars earned randomly by spending Zen credits (from the packs), faction tokens, etc, etc.

Most mmos have a ton of different currencies actually but Neverwinter throws it all at you and can leave the unfamiliar confused at the offset. Other mmos do it better imp and space it out more.

I am actually enjoying it more on console than PC for some reason though even with occasional performance issues compared to running it on PC.

I'm enjoying the game so far. Only played for about 3-4 days and I'm at L6. I agree with the currency. There are like 4 different currencies, plus some kind of diamond currency as well. Kind of a pain until you start using all of them I guess. The game is still pretty solid and fun so far. I enjoy the real time action and it seems lots of people are looking to group with you. I've gotten about 4+ invites everytime I'm playing. I haven't had any serious frame rate problems yet. Game has been pretty smooth. I haven't done any group battles yet or PvP events yet.

4 plus the diamond one? You didn't look hard enough lol. There is: Copper, Astral Diamonds, Zen, Glory, Ardent Coins, Celestial Coins, Trade Bars, Seal of the Lion, Seal of the Manticore, Seal of the Pegasus, Seal of the Unicorn, Seal of the Drake, Cult Secrets, Page of Arcane Lore, Dragon Horde Coins, Dragon Sigils, Blackdagger Insignia, Blackdagger Gold Coin... and more

@Cobberwebb
I've been only playing for 4 days, so no I haven't found all of that yet. Looks like you missed that part of my comment. I haven't researched the game either.

7/10 is about right. Works well with a controller but way more laggy on Xbox One than On a PC with maximum settings.

Hopefully their will be less lag in the future with a couple patches and network fixes.

Are there endgame dungeons like WoW or FF14? If so, framerate will be a serious problem.

OpieWinston3311d ago

Endgame raids are 5 mans.

And MMOs are CPU bound.

jznrpg3311d ago

So more like a dungeon/instance than a Raid.

Eddie201013311d ago (Edited 3311d ago )

There are dragons that are spread throughout the world that are more like raids and are very laggy. to the point of making it hard to play well.

It's for that online game, correct? I always wanted to see the drows home from Drizzt's books, I've read those years ago, but I never could fully imagine it from text alone. Looks a bit bright compared to what I remember how it was described, but I'm guessing that's for gameplay reasons.
