GTAV PC: New Release Date, First Screens and System Specs

R*:

As we head into 2015, we would like to share the first screens and system specs of Grand Theft Auto V for PC as well as a new release date of March 24, 2015.

Our apologies for the slight shift in the date but the game requires a few extra weeks of testing and polish to make it as good as can be. Moving a release date is never a decision we take lightly and is a choice we make only when we know it is in the best interests of the game and our fans. Thanks everyone for your understanding and we assure you these few extra weeks will be worth it when the game does arrive in March.

"Online Heists for consoles will be launching in the coming weeks ahead of the PC launch".

Yeah right when the PC version comes out. I do not trust a single word Rockstar says about heists. They've been singing different things about heists for more than a year now.

CaptainFaisal3391d ago

Honestly i dont care when they release it now ... GTA has gotten boring currently and i bet they know it too, however they took an extra year to work on heist isnt that a good thing? What would really be dissapointing is if all this hype over hiests was for nothing ! i honestly got angry when i didnt receive heists from day one on both my ps3 and ps4 i felt it was a waste to buy it on PS4 i only bought it for the heists and not the graphics and then found out i got First person...
I guess thats how you sell a game now adays lie and get paid, tell the truth and risk not getting sales or have huge sales.
Thats life in the gaming industry! On the bright side nothing left for it to release and i am looking forward to look at what the modding community will do with this game!

yezz3391d ago

"i felt it was a waste to buy it on PS4 i only bought it for the heists and not the graphics and then found out i got First person..."

Even though they have been delayed a lot, Rockstar never said that Heists would come out when the PS4 version releases so that's on you..

Dee_913391d ago (Edited 3391d ago )

"GTA has gotten boring currently "

Ummm.. okay and? You think its suppose to contain unlimited fun for an eternity or something? I admit they shouldn't advertise something that far from ready before the game release but to say they lied is childish...

OT.
Those specs are decent imo.I wont be running it on high settings but I can run it at least.

kingfetish173390d ago

Screw GTA V. Been playing it since the release of the PS3 version. Bring on the next Red Dead already!

Heists lost their hype before comming out. Everyone was tired of waiting and lots of players already stopped playing gta online.

I tought ps4 and xbox one architecture was closer to pcs so it shouldnt be this hard to port a game, oh well...

Audiggity3391d ago

Ha. That's a lot of generalizations in just 3 sentences. Heist hype was only generated by the players, Rockstar simply mentioned it, never any details until just a few weeks ago.

The architecture is close... sure, but, the PC version has 4K support a replay editor and perhaps some other enhancements (custom music, mod support, Steam integration?) we aren't aware of.

Given the unique features, it is also hard to define it as a simple port.

bubblebobble3390d ago

infamous second son looks alot better on ps4 than this is gonna look on pc

starchild3390d ago

That remains to be seen. It is a last gen game at its core of course. But mods might change all that anyway.

In any case, Infamous Second Son is a really great looking game and is definitely the best looking game I've played on my PS4, but games like AC Unity maxed out on my PC definitely still look better.

ShottyGibs3390d ago

Cool story. Modded GTA4 on PC still looks better than any PS4 game out to this day

Maxor3390d ago

AC Unity on the PC crushes this game. Second Son does look good on the PS4 but you simply can not beat the master race's eye candy.

UltraNova3390d ago (Edited 3390d ago )

@^^

Yeah because ps4 games were modded too and can be directly compared with modded PC games...

Cool story bros.

DARK WITNESS3390d ago

Infamous looks ok, but in honesty it's a very boring, very "static" feeling world compared to GTAV.

you don't have even half the stuff going on that you see happening in GTAV.

Infamous may "look" nicer, but that's about all it has and even then, some of the effects like the water and rain don't look as good as in GTA.

Look at the really fine details in Infamous and you can see where they have cut corners in order to achieve the overall eye candy.

generally speaking I wouldn't even say the two games are comparable in my opinion.

Let the shitstorm commence. R* is working hard on the PC port making sure something like Unity does not happen again. If the game was released in its current state i'm sure there would be tons of bugs and glitches that people will be complaining about. A working game is worth the wait.

ScamperCamper3391d ago

I agree with you 100%. It sucks to wait, but honestly, how many years did we actually wait for the console GTA 5 version? A couple more months isn't great, but at the same time, graphic card prices will drop by that time. Upgrade time guys!

Audiggity3391d ago

Exactly.

I literally JUST signed for a new PC delivered from Fedex on the same day the delay was announced. But, I'd rather have an optimal game than an early game.

My only regret is selling the 360. 2 months with no GTA Online? Ugh, I must resort to playing other games I suppose.

bubblebobble3390d ago

what about duke nucam ps3

FalloutWanderer20773391d ago (Edited 3391d ago )

I concur my friend. I feel the same exact way when Witcher 3 was delayed again. Sure, I was upset to not get to play the game when I had hoped to but if these past 2 years have taught us anything, it is that games rushed to market in order to make the release date only benefits the publishers, investors and the developers (Although to be fair many devs do not make these decisions, they certainly take the blunt of negative press however.) in the short term, with potential negative connotations for the bigger picture.

However, it is us, the consumer/gamer, who really get the short end of the stick when a game is launched prematurely.

No matter how many patches that are released, some games never recover from a bad launch. As they say, first impressions leave their mark, in the world of video games, first impressions are detrimental to longevity and success.

It may seem like a cliche but you cannot argue with truth:
“A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever.” ~ Shigeru Miyamoto

Kivespussi3391d ago (Edited 3391d ago )

I agree a small wait is unfortunate but it'll be worth it.. I'd just wish they'd have announced the delay a bit sooner.

And to be honest for people doubting... If a minimum GPU is a 9800 this game is pretty goddamn well optimized, well above GTA IV.

ScamperCamper3391d ago

Yes please! I've been waiting an eternity for this, but that typical of Rockstar releases. I think it's pretty clear that previous reports of specs were wishful thinking. Case in point: http://www.grandtheftautofo... More importantly though, what is Rockstar going to do for the mod community? I think I'm okay with another delay because and only because it will have that Rockstar quality that can't be matched. We will be playing this for years to come. I'm over it, I will wait it out. My graphics card isn't getting any younger though...

FalloutWanderer20773391d ago

Well, to be fair, depending on what GPU and overall PC specs you have currently, it is time to upgrade for alot of gamers who primarily/exclusively play on a gaming PC. I have a GTX 770 2gb and I am in need of an upgrade, My GPU cannot keep up in the VRAM requirements of 3-4 gb which the majority of demanding AAA games are asking for recently. If I have the funds I plan on additionally buying a SSD and maybe a new CPU, thinking of an i7 just in case. Presently I own a i5 4670k but there are rumors that Witcher might use more than 4 cores and I want to be prepared. Witcher 3 is the primary reason for my upgrade, love to play that in all it's glory! The same can be said for GTA V, especially when the mods start rolling out.

Meltic3391d ago (Edited 3391d ago )

“'GTA V' will be coming to PC on Jan. 27,” the developer promised Saturday in a post on its Rockstarforums. “We have not announced any changes to this date at this time.”

Wow i can really trust these guys with everything I've got.

At least the system specs looks decent. Good port meaby

crusf3391d ago (Edited 3391d ago )

Working delayed game > Rushed broken release

*Smooth edit Meltic smooooth... -_-

Meltic3391d ago

Bullshit. They have worked on this PC port for over 1 year now... ofc they delay the game beacuse the heist just to earn Money.

ps4gamer19833391d ago

@ Crusf:

What are you slow or something? He wasn't talking about broken games, he is talking about R* lying just 3 days ago about releasing in January. How did they change their minds in only 3 days when the release is so close?

xPhearR3dx3390d ago

@ps4gamer1983

Ummm they Rockstar didn't lie about anything.

"We have not announced any changes to this date at this time."

That statement is correct. 3 days ago, Rockstar hasn't announced any changes to the release date. Now, 3 days later, they have.

NuggetsOfGod3391d ago (Edited 3391d ago )

The should just give u the code and let u port it yourself since ur so upset..

Just play something else until it comes...

Why so mad? Let them milk the console cows first lol

The recommend is a gtx 660 lol my two gtx 970s will eat this game alive!

Clunkyd3391d ago

You're the saltiest PC fanboy I have ever witness. Keep waiting bruh. PC Waiting Race! X'D

bubblebobble3390d ago

my £300 ps4 eats this game alive a few months ago

starchild3390d ago

@ Clunkyd

Yes, and how long have you been waiting to play games like Planetside 2? It works both ways.

@bubblebobble

Except the PS4 version doesn't eat anything alive. It's significantly inferior to the PC version in nearly every way. It's great for a $400 machine, but you get what you pay for.

xTheMercenary_3390d ago

It was probably a last minute call to delay the game, besides there's a few other games that might keep people busy before it releases for example the witcher 3, dying light etc.

snookiegamer3391d ago

March!!! Oh sweet Jeez! That means no Heists until that date or later. Meh! ;/

More interested in money than giving fans what they want. Such a shame

CrimsonWing693d ago

With the amount of money they generated, I just don’t understand the scrubbing of this. It would’ve been fantastic for fans.

Profchaos3d ago

I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.

Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder

Ikr mfs that greedy it's ridiculous

andy853d ago

This makes me sad. Trevor was one of my favourite characters in gaming

Demetrius2d ago

One of the reason I believe once gta 6 release, most of us thoroughly play it, enjoy the world they crafted then after that no offline support, no dlc at all
