A few days ago, Microsoft’s Xbox Division Head Phil Spencer mentioned that Corporate Vice President and Kinect poster boy Kudo Tsunoda is going to step back into the limelight this year, and today you catch a glimpse on what he’s working on.
When it does hit, it will likely be wireless.
VR wireless on Xbox so that means If I want to buy the Mixed reality headset for PC I cannot use it on the Scorpio I need to buy a wireless headset for that console. I dont see the point in owning 2 headsets for each platform
I am surprised MS wouldn't just continue their partnership with Oculus and make the Scorpio Oculus Ready. Those that own PC's can plug the headset and sensors into the Scorpio and use it out of the box. Would have been a smart move, not to mention they could capitalize on an already existing library of games.

Yup. Basically went from talking about "high fidelity VR" to not talking about it at all anytime soon. That's possibly another year before Xbox gamers get a stab at using VR on consoles. The idea is cool in that you can potentially have both AR and VR. Maybe even wireless. But again, not anytime soon just like Hololens.
Two things seem to be at hand here:
Microsoft wants to control the PC space by flooding the PC market with their partnership headsets and make windows MR headsets the standard for use and operating system. Sales of Oculus and Vive aren't too far ahead that they can possibly catch them.
They saw that PSVR, while selling past 1 million and is leading the high end market, is not enough for them to dip their toes right away in console VR. Being the last to market would mean their headsets with Scorpio would sell even less. So, the Chess move is to control the PC market. It's all about who's leading just like PS4 over Xbox one. Whoever's leading on PC controls where third party developers will develop their software first. And that would lead into next generation's consoles and third parties making Xbox VR software first or exclusive. An interesting move.
Second, they want as many Scorpio sales as they can get in the fall. Any diluting message at E3 would take focus off of them wanting third party developers to do their best work on Scorpio proving it has the best looking console games. If that becomes standard, they then can add MR to Scorpio to complete the dominance.
Will the gambit work? Who knows. But looks like Xbox gamers wanting VR are in for a longer wait. But potentially, a better experience.
Of course they're not because MS already said that Scorpio wouldn't support them until 2018 at the earliest...
Who cares, VR is a bust at this point (and I mean all of them) and the value for what you pay is a joke. This from someone who has Oculus and had PSVR before I recently sold it. If you want to play mediocre games or short little "experiences" then knock yourself out. I personally want better graphics than those looking like they came from 1985 or out of a VHS player
"If a consumer bought it today, they would have 12 things to do with it," said Alex Kipman, creator of the augmented reality glasses.
Kinect died out soon as the casual crowd moved on to tablets and smart phones. I doubt Hololens is going to take off within gaming due to price and lack of appealing software.I'm sure the device could find successful in other areas outside of gaming though.
Kinect failed because it was rushed out and presented to the public before it was ready. Before MS knew how to present it much less with conformation that it worked.
In that regard they've all ready messed up: Hololens has already been shown off.
It would have been far better if MS spent Kinect money on the Xbox One hardware (better CPU/GPU). Kinect almost killed Xbox One.
Kinect fizzles because Microsoft needs to do what they have done with tablets. Most have forgotten or just never knew it was Microsoft who initiated the modern tablet era we are in now. They pushed it with their Project Origami videos. Then recently they saved it from being a race to the bottom, and away from Windows, with Surface Pro. There are ways of making Kinect useful to hardcore gamers. Microsoft just needs to take the lead on it. Or finance others to.
Kinect and PlayStation move, prooved that gamers just don't want to exercise, get off there butts and move, this is why I think vr will be nothing more than a posh extension of these, it offers more yes but really I can't see it as being ground breaking on any platform in terms of popularity, though it is ground breaking in a new era of gaming the price is astonishingly high. The novelty will where off and gameers will be back to controllers and mouses just like the whole PlayStation/Kinect fiasco..
Kudo Tsunoda has assumed a new role at Microsoft, leaving behind his Xbox role after just eight months.
So off he goes to make sure Window has 10,0000 apps that no uses , like them other sites cause just having the essential is not good enough. What a waste of time.
E3 is going to be amazing this year. so much to look forward to i.e unveiling of halo5 sp, Tombraider , Gears 4 and scalebound gameplay even rares upcoming ip...its going to be great.
I speculate that it might be a new Kinect 3.0, with more advanced tracking, and maybe some small projectors to recreate the Illumiroom idea to a more small scale one. Or it could be the AR/VR other people are speculating.
Boring. Been hearing this since the kinect was introduced.
Will it actually be something they can make good games for and not make false promises for it like the Kinect?
