The first Kirby mainline title for Nintendo Switch, Kirby Star Allies, has crossed another milestone before its 2 month launch anniversary. At retail, Kirby has passed half a million copies in Japan since it's launch.
Developer HAL Laboratory explains how the creation of Kirby Star Allies paved the way for Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
BLG writes: "Kirby has been a Nintendo staple since he was first introduced on the Gameboy in 1992 so ranking the best Kirby games is no easy task. Created by Masahiro Sakurai and HAL Laboratory, the little pink puff-ball has made an appearance on every Nintendo console and handheld. While there are over 30 games with Kirby’s name attached, we’re only going to rank the 17 main storyline games."
HAL Laboratory’s Shinya Kumazaki opened up about the making of Kirby Star Allies in a recently-released art book for the game. Kumazaki discussed when development began (planning was actually before the launch of Planet Robobot), the previous absence of Kirby side-scrollers on consoles, and more.
Stop eating all the sales Kirby. ;p
Whoa. That is mighty impressive. It seems every Nintendo’s exclusives are selling very good so far.
Who was it that said Nintendo's first party can't carry their systems anymore?
I can think of several names on this site alone...XD
Anyways, I'm glad that games like this are selling well, and that apparently third parties are making enough of a profit off of the system to commit more resources to making games for it.
Nintendo 1st partys always sell well on the platform... its 3rd partys that sell like dog sh!t and esp the ones that arent that cartoony, cell shaded, games with that nintendo flair. AAA 3rd partys will get their fair shake but after the piss poor ports with a full pricetag there will be no more games like doom, wofenstein, and dark souls (which reminds me of the wii all over again, great ports at first and than off a cliff). Its sad actually they are having problems getting dark souls a last gen game to even run on the switch... hence why it was delayed... which is too bad because anytime a game is delayed on the switch it can only hurt the sales of said game.
