this thing is still alive? just do tes 6 already.

vishmarx3299d ago

its also like guild wars 2 now in terms of the payment model
though im curious, is this game more demanding than ff14?
which runs at 60 on ps4, maybe its the artstyle difference but to me ff14 looks much better

Roccetarius3299d ago

The FF14 developers probably gave it more attention than Zenimax did. I can't see why it would be more demanding at all, considering how awful the textures are even on PC.

Eldyraen3299d ago

Could had locked it due to pvp being crazy nuts at times. I still expect serious slowdown in pvp though on sieges.

Bolts3299d ago

Character models isn't as detailed as FF but the environmental and world are top notch. This is one of the best looking MMO out there make no mistake about it.

ocelot073299d ago

I had this on PC and am not sure if the game is just unoptimized or what. But my PC (GTX 770, AMD 8320, 8GB 1600Mhz RAM) can play it at max graphic settings at 1080p. But struggle to get more than 40FPS.

Duke193299d ago

Doesn't FF14 also allow a toggle between 720p and 1080p though? There must be some issues maintaining the 60fps in that case - perhaps Zenimax just wanted to lock it at 30 instead.

Won't argue that FF14 looks better, (I agree) but I think there are various "apples to oranges" aspects though. FF14 had instanced zones but I thought ESO was not?

Volkama3299d ago (Edited 3299d ago )

It's not very demanding or pretty. It isn't ugly or confined, but things like textures are underwhelming. Even on it's highest settings, a single AMD 6950 can actually run 4k with reasonable performance.

A single R9-290 series card can do 4k stereoscopic 3D. Which is good, because there is no crossfire support at all.

Expect 1080p on the PS4 and maybe even the One, though 900p wouldn't surprise anyone there.

MMORPGs are renowned for being fairly taxing on the CPU though, so 30fps is quite reasonable for both consoles.

Ignoring performance, it's actually not a bad game and definitely always looked more suited to console than PC. The interface, combat, player interactions are all fit for a control pad (and last I heard you can't even use a control pad on the PC version). I've already hedged my bets and got both console versions on the PC-console transfer deal.

Bigpappy3299d ago

The size of the world, the number objects you can interact with and other fine details like NPC behaviors, all require bandwidth and processor time. So it is not just about how good the game looks, especially with opened world RPG's. Play both and see which you prefer.

Neverwinter looks very dated, but boy is that game fun to play and attracting large amounts of people.

It's an MMO. They have long product life cycle.

Eldyraen3299d ago

Different developers for ESO and ES/Fallout so it is not an issue.

I plan on picking up ESO on console IF I have friends that do. I'm enjoying Neverwinter on Xbox One atm (not great but I went ahead and supported with Zen purchase as like it well enough--the pub/Dev has habit of making more decent/good f2p mmos than like any other company) though and played ESO on PC so if they don't I won't be missing much. MMOs on consoles can actually work pretty well now although they're still pretty limited by the hardware (cpu especially).

I look forward to new mmos now on console actually but they won't entirely replace more complex PC mmos either.

I'm sure we will get a new Fallout or even ES news come E3 as they have been out a good long while now. if Bethesda wanted to win E3 though just show Fallout gameplay and announce it for this Fall followed up with a traditional ES tease for '16 and as rpg fans we'd weep for joy (although not likely to happen but one should be a surety).

ESO though isn't perfect and definitely isn't a regular ES game but it's a pretty good Action oriented mmo imo (better than Neverwinter in most ways although I like crafting companions beyond time it takes to get it working well due to f2p model).

BallsEye3299d ago

Actually, at this point it's pretty amazing game. Retail, is the best MMO I've played eventho beta completely sucked. The only MMO that makes you feel like you play SP game with other people, thanks to great quests. I'm lvl 40 now on my beefed up PC, waiting for XO version! Will switch because of prefference.

I played this on PC during the beta but lost interest after a few days... how is it since then? I'd like to have a proper MMO on console so I'm tempted but unless it's changed quite a bit I'm not sure.

ocelot073299d ago

It depends on why you got bored of it. It has a lot of typical Elder Scrolls quests. Like there and get item A and bring it to location B. Or go to this area and clear out all these enemies ect.

I go bored of it my self. Then started playing again with friends and it did get better.

Maxor3299d ago

This game is miles apart it's beta stage. Everything works and the combat is much more responsive.

DougLord3299d ago

I played in the Beta and thought it was horrible. ESO is amazing now. I'm champion level 2 and I never once felt I was grinding. You end up with this really long epic quests. I would only complain that the world doesn't feel like Tamriel and the environments get pretty stale/repetitive. It's lacking scale. The biggest city I've seen doesn't have 100 people in it.

GamerzElite3299d ago

I doubt it, On PC in Hel-Ra FPS drop to 10 and in PVP sometime we play at 1-5 FPS, This problem exist from past 6 months and Zeni didnt fix this... 1080p on consoles are not so hard but ESO 30FPS lock... No WAY.. Nice Troll Zenimax. Here is an example video of Mega Server Lag->

SolidDuck3299d ago

This witcher 3 and battlefront are my games for this year. Along with bloodborne. Dark souls 2, and evolve. It's a heck of a year.

This is not what I would call value for money spent. They give you quests in liveservice games to get you "re-engaged" with the monetization schemes or to get you hooked or so you at least spend some extra on skins and loot boxes. Then they dole out paltry points after you have already paid extra for whichever liveservice within a liveservice that you are already paying for. My worry is people can't actually be that stupid to fall for this, can they?

littletad630d ago

Absolutely nothing in this comment makes sense. At all.

anast630d ago (Edited 630d ago )

How does it not make sense? O thy god of reason, shine some evidence upon us. Ryse of Rome, ESO,and AC: Origins are all live service games, between them you can get 275 points. Liveservice games are made to keep people spending. Therefore, Gamepass is a live service and the points are for playing live service games.

It is not my problem that this does not make sense to you, it is absolutely your problem. I mean it is all your problem.

Hate Xbox but comments in every Xbox article 😂 without making sense smh

Bring the evidence and then your emoji might make sense.
