Sony's PlayStation 4 made gaming better for millions of people with one simple menu

The screen at the top of this story doesn't look like much. It's a simple interface that allows you to swap any one button on the Dual Shock 4 for any other button. It's a screen that makes gaming a much better place.

It is a great feature I used it on battlefield last night turning r2 l2 to r1 l1 I felt I had better reflects. Anyways great and I can see it been patched eg put in battlefield and it will load that remapped profile

This is what happens if you prioritize games and gamers first more than any other thing in your platform
and not spend millions of $$$ on lobbying for cable networks in Hollywood and non gaming related BS on your console.

Its great for remote play on vita first and foremost as using that screen for r2 and l2 isn't easy and fluid.

That is so cool I hope we see it on all consoles it's about time company's started letting us use our controllers how we want u can do all this on PC for years so it's good consoles are getting this feature, might even help those with disabilities or injuries play games easier good job Sony

This feature is cool, but not one I'm gonna use much. Most of my games are already set up the way I want them. But on a console level its cool I guess. Maybe I'm just not excited as most because Ive been remapping buttons for yrs in game settings and don't mind(only takes a few secs or minutes).

Anything to help someone with disabilities is great in my book so kudos to Sony.

How laughably ironic this point is considering you're a PC gamer yet understate the importance of this feature. This should be an industry standard for all gaming devices. Not just disabled gamers but everyone can benefit from it.

To each his own though, I'll champion universal button mapping and you can trumpet Rosetta Stone for the X1. I guess it's a win win situation!

Online shooters on Xbox? Shooters, fighters, sports games, adventure games...alot of games give you the option of button mapping. Does it matter what platform?

You read my comment and came away with: I'm a PC gamer and I downplayed the feature. You're right to each his own. So when I said its a cool feature and great for disabled gamers. Does the article not mention on more than one occasion the importance of this feature for a disabled gamer or gamers with certain muscular problems...did you even bother reading the article?

Since when does every gamer use every single feature or app a console has to offer? No of course it doesn't matter Bak, that's my point. All the console manufacturers should be adopting mappable button schemes, no reason not to. Do you honestly believe developers shoehorning how they prefer to play the game is best to me & you? Why should WE be the ones who have to adapt to different control schemes when they exist because of us and our support? There was a dozen or so games last gen and a couple now that let you map buttons so let's not act like this is a redundant feature that all game devs utilize.

Yes, I read the article on yahoo's front page this morning, before I came here. I've already seen several articles on the issue in the past and I think it's fantastic for disabled gamers. But this doesn't just benefit them. It extends far beyond that, which is, again my point.

And yes, I skimmed your post history before replying. 9 out of every 10 posts you're either in MS articles or software that appears on MS consoles. I have no qualms about what you favor, as I have all the systems and two gaming rigs. If anything I'm biased towards PC but enjoy all facets of gaming. Using words like "maybe" and "I guess" though implies a negative connotation about a feature that frankly has no downside.

Seeing how that was my 1st post in months you actually think I care about getting you bubbled down by the Pony hordes? I referenced Xbox shooters because A) FPSs generally use the standard config popularized by COD, and B) devs have slowly transitioned on PS consoles to R2 as the fire weapon from R1. I know several people who have struggled due to muscle memory over this change so I didn't think you had the PS4 in mind when making that proclamation. Most other genres are all over the map when it comes to inputs, hence the comment.

I will apologize for the Rosetta Stone dig. It was unnecessary. I have no use for a non-entertainment apps on a dedicated gaming platform but maybe others without a PC could find it useful. Good luck building a rig in the future, you'll love it!

This feature is also on vita, very useful for those games where the controls are a bit wonky.
