Tanya Valdez writes: Nintendo finally announced the release of the New Nintendo 3DS in North America, during the first Nintendo Direct of 2015 that was streamed two days ago. While ours are going to be only available as the XL version and in only red or black, Japan's New Nintendo 3DS is available as the XL and as the smaller version. Nintendo has not announced their plans to release this version here in the states.
North American fans are outraged by some of the business decisions that Nintendo of America is making.
GameStop has a trade-in deal for those who want to trade in their 3DS or 3DS XL toward the purchase of the New 3DS XL. Usually, when someone takes a system to trade-in, or if they sell it online, they usually need to include the power adaptor.
We have reached out GameStop to find out if this is the case, since the New 3DS XL does not come with one.
Hanzala from eXputer: "The cruel hammer of Nintendo has fallen. Farewell, 3DS and Wii U, you surely brightened my life and many others; you won't be forgotten."
Hanzla from eXputer inquires: "If Xbox can care about preserving its games and legacy, what exactly is wrong with Nintendo, trying to kill game preservation single-handedly?"
Ahh yes the good old game preservation of saving all your games to a removable hhd on the Xbox 360, taking it round your mates house, setting up multiple tvs to
Be met with “save data corrupted, please re download”
Or how about removing 360 games
From the store
, download them now or else, and, better hope to god that save data doesn’t corrupt, or it’s lost for ever
Nice one ☝️
This is just a scammy PR move to distract from the fact they are going digital only and trying to push streaming and subscriptions only.
No gaming company has pushed harder to remove ownership than Microsoft.
Without discs there is no preservation, preservation can't be done by the rights holders it can only be done by the consumers, anything else is a lie.
Nobody wants this. Sales or the lack of it in the case of XBOX is very telling. I wonder how the adorably all digital series X will fare. Adorably dismal perhaps?
Only time will tell, but for from someone like me suspecting that Xbox is trying to gracefully exit the console market, that "forward compatibility" team is trying to get Xbox games playing on Windows PCs. I mean, it's nice that they're not planning on exiting with a "enjoy your games while the hardware still works" message, so that's nice. They still have a brand to protect via Microsoft so probably feel obligated to have a better exit strategy.
Danish from eXputer: "Nintendo has historically gone against player-made content and emulation of its games. This has done much to harm the company's image."
They need to stop announcing these mods and fan remakes until they're finished. Finish it, upload it, and then if Nintendo dmca's it tough shit. Once it's online, people can share it around, even if the original download gets taken down.
This is all coming from the mouth of short-sighted fandom and grifting madness.
No.... it wont. There is a clear defined reason why they don't. This is nothing new. Make your own shi7 from your own original ideas especially if you are trying to capitalize of it it. Duh.
Yeah, hire people that have zero respect or understanding for an established process. Wow. Yep. Totally makes sense.
I actually think they will release it, just didn't announce it for three reasons: one, to not confuse. The XL model has replaced the original on store shelves already. The "New" ones will eventually replace even those. They have a 3DS XL and 2DS in USA stores so they are trying not to confuse. Second, supply and demand. The New XL (or LL in Japan) outsells the smaller "new" version 2:1 in Japan and I am sure the current XL accounts for 90% of NA sales. They want to figure the demand for it or simply don't have enough supply of smaller ones for USA launch. Three, hype. Hype and things like this article describes sells systems.
Heck, I'm trying hard to resist it already and all this talk is making me want a "New" one. :)
The overwhelming demand for regular models it's just silly. Why can't people stick with the XL one or better yet, just wait for the arrival of the model they want, because it's obvious that, eventually, Nintendo will distribute them.
I'd rather have the AC Adapter with the system first. It's super cheap for Nintendo and the money they save for not putting it it's ridiculous.
I do think both should be released but i honestly would have never guessed there would be a demand for the smaller version....i still cant imagine why anyone would want the smaller one
idk what was so bad calling it "super" 3ds. this is proller the last hardware update for the 3ds successor.
Nice.
