Why are portable games coming to the Wii U, but not the 3DS??? Makes no sense.....

XXXL3493d ago

Nintendo hasn't made much sense in years

Ratty3493d ago

It's not a bad game at least. Far from the best portable Castlevania but still.

DEATHxTHExKIDx3493d ago

This is just rlly annoying a lot of GBA games coming to WiiU but not 3DS. And don't use the excuse "WiiU needs sales" because theres no way virtual console games have that much pull compared to MK8 or Smash.

MSBAUSTX3492d ago

It could be they would rather people buy Mirror of fate, which is pretty good, and give people a castlevania that they might not have played through the virtual console on Wii U in the form of this game.

DEATHxTHExKIDx3492d ago

Then can release it for WiiU thats fine but should at least release GBA games on both WiiU and 3DS.

vengeance3493d ago

It would be nice if buying it on wii u meant you could play it on 3ds too, who knows, maybe one day.

superchiller3492d ago

Nintendo is way too greedy to offer cross-buy, they always charge the maximum amount and rarely give gamers any breaks. Plus they have lost money every year for the last three years and burned through over $3 billion of their cash reserves, makes them a lot less likely to do anything like cross-buy.

marloc_x3492d ago (Edited 3492d ago )

Yes,

they are most likely on the verge of making us pay for online multiplayer to make ends meet..

mydyingparadiselost3493d ago

Definitely picking this up, I've been in a Castlevania mood and the GBA games are some of the best available. Nintendo really needs to get a unified account system going on though, this should exist on 3DS too.

Ratty3493d ago

Yes they should. I'd rather have Aria of Sorrow but Harmony of Dissonance is nice too.

Summons753493d ago

They do but you can see their slowly taking steps for it.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, Steam reviews are very positive 9/10. I'm going to buy it for Switch though. I want to also play on the go, and at work :D

GameBoyColor1773d ago (Edited 1773d ago )

Damn didnt know Bloodstained just released. Will get it on switch

AK911773d ago

Switch Version doesn't come out till next week

GameBoyColor1773d ago

ye just found out, ill have to wait but it looks real good

AK911773d ago

@GameBoyColor yea it's awesome you'll have a great time playing it on your Switch.

AK911773d ago

Yeah I'm REALLY loving what little I've played of it so far and this is coming from someone who hasn't been too impressed with what has been shown of the game, guess metroidvania plays better than they look.

Omar3li1773d ago

I thought he had nothing to do with curse of the moon

Castlevania Lacarde Chronicles 2 just released on PC in May 2017 and is an incredible MetroidVania CV game. 10/10!!!

New_Age_Retro_Hippie2429d ago

Is that a Metroidvania? Just from the name I'm almost inclined to think Classivania, haha.

Blastoise2430d ago

That's not a Castlevania game...

Wotbot2430d ago (Edited 2430d ago )

Ori by far, the best most recent example of this type of side scrolling adventure game, I would love to see them make a Castlevania game, it would be amazing

New_Age_Retro_Hippie2430d ago

Honestly, I think Konami would do well to hand the reigns to an indie dev like Sega did.

Soulst0rmer2428d ago

Please download and play CASTLEVANIA LACARDE CHRONICLES 2! It's Konami approved, features SOTN voice actors MetroidVania CV classic, awesome graphics and sound. A truly amazing fan made indie CASTLEVANIA .

Yohshida2430d ago

Not your standard ones, I like this list.

Kabukiface2430d ago

Aria of Sorrow is lit. I mean just look at that spooky skeleton.

Lauriellen2428d ago

Cool thoughtful list, ya hippie. It's clear you're really into games when your picks aren't all the most popular ones but are the ones that best fit the parameters of the list.

Nice article!

Harmony of Dissonance's soundtrack problems were super weird and not (past) Konami-like back when I first played it, but now it all makes sense. The GBA was built to be a portable SNES, and the SNES had this gorgeous Sony sound chip that put it above the Genesis for nearly every multiplatform game out there. They broke up with Sony in the Playstation snafu during GBA R&D and therefore no longer had their awesome sound chip expertise behind the system. Nintendo, without a partner in sight, boldly tried to make their own, but it was basically a NES-grade chip with extra tracks for sampling.

This is why other GBA game soundtracks (like Advance Wars or Aria of Sorrow) might sound better but also fuzzy - it's all samples, all the time, nothing's native to the chip, because the chip sucks. Harmony of Dissonance, for whatever reason (I think it was a throwback to the NES, given the other throwbacks in the game), used the chip.

Despite the awful sound, the composition behind the tracks is all pretty good and super different from what you'd expect in a Castlevania game.

NXSwitch2766d ago

CV lll for the Nes is my all time fav out of every game they have put out & I'm waiting for it to become remade in 3D classic for the eShop VC.

DivineAssault 2766d ago

One of my favorite game series.. I completed almost every game.. Very much worth playing..

Chaos_Order2766d ago

Circle of The Moon is easily one of my favourite handheld games of all time. Few games on the little screen feel as epic or as awe-inspiring.

Chevalier2766d ago

So many late nights playing Circle of the Moon. Great names for all the games too.

xDealtwithIt2766d ago

Konami out did themselves with the portable versions of Castlevania.

rjason122766d ago

I wish they would have created another trilogy for the 3ds.

NotoriousWhiz2766d ago (Edited 2766d ago )

I haven't bothered with the GBA VC on the Wii U, but if they port those to the NX, I'll probably check them out. I would really like to see Shining Soul (sp*) end up on the GBA VC.
