Upcoming games such as Star Citizen have rallied tremendous support while existing titles like EVE Online continue to flourish. Is there room for more? Developer Chaos Interactive certainly hopes so as they just launched a campaign for Seldon Crisis on PC. According to them, it will be "the largest sandbox universe ever created." Heady goals, indeed!"
The sci-fi sandbox MMORPG Seldon Crisis, may have a bit of a crisis of their own. The Kickstarter officially kicked off last month to moderate success. Originally the game and funding pages were littered with various references to prolific Sci-Fi author Issac Asimov. The game paid homage to Asimov’s Foundation series in various ways, and it seemed like a natural fit. Unfortunately, Asimov’s estate didn’t feel the same way.
Greg Micek writes: "A few weeks ago we posted a news article about Seldon Crisis, an Isaac Asimov inspired MMO that the developers claimed would be “…the largest sandbox universe ever created.” For a mere £250,000 the developers were going to create an epic game that would put players in control of everything, including the economy, infrastructure, and politics. Sounds exciting!
Unfortunately, another aspect of the project seems to have brought them some unwanted attention."
Greg Micek writes: "Every week we take a brief look at all of the Kickstarter campaigns that launched in the previous week. This isn't to say that all of these projects are worth your hard earned cash, but with any luck having all of them in one place will make it easier to educate yourself on the projects you'd like to back, and which ones to run from. This week there were 33 to choose from, lets check 'em out!"
