Yep.
I still think the PS4 will be with us in 2013, so I'm gonna plump for next gen. If it's true that technical limitations have been instrumental in the delay, it could be the sensible thing to do.
??
Get an Internet connection with the worst ping possible, so as to compliment the crappy netcode. And don't rely on the connection quality option, as it still allows parties, defeating the whole purpose of matching by connection quality.
Stick to zombies.
How good would that be instead of the usual shooters? I didn't experience ICO until the recent ICO/Shadow dual pack. ICO was quite brilliant and different to anything I had played before. I can't wait for The Last Guardian.
@jaosobno
Yes I realise that. My point was, it is misleading to present a totals column that isn't relative to the columns preceding it.
How can you possibly disagree? Unless of course you can't add up!
How did the PS3 beat the Xbox 360 every year on market share and end up with a lower lifetime market share?
The charts aren't worth a [censored] if the total doesn't reflect the numbers shown.
"I win button."
Love it, bubbles up. ;)
Good article and funny to boot, respect.
As for the music, give me the ability to play Paint it Black at full volume (FMJ style) while I shoot shit and I will be a very happy bunny.
Oh, and the background updates/installs too. ;)
A well thought out and presented article, thank you.
I tend to agree with Darth. Subconsciously consumers seem to be drifting toward casual gaming via their mobiles/Facebook etc. and commercially that is fast becoming too difficult for the industry to ignore.
Gaming as a whole will become more and more integrated. Hardcore AAA gaming isn't going anywhere, but how you access it may well change. And for us dedicated gamers that could turn out to be a protra...
Don't fall for the feign.
Christmas 2013-Spring 2014, the Wii U will see to that.
I think the PS4 will be announced next year and we will now start to see more and more declarations of future support for the PS3. Especially now the new slim PS3 has been announced..
"Favourite games to play are FPS games and anything with a deep and compelling story with a world that draws you in."
That sums me up and I guess probably 90% of gamers. I think they are both great consoles but to me it is only the controller preference that prevents me from picking up a 360, in order to play with some of my PS3less friends.
I think touch and movement controls are generally accepted to be about consumption. Keyboard and mouse are generally accepted to be about production (including many gamers of course).
I saw an interactive car showroom on the TV the other night that had integrated kinect technology apparently. Even our local McDonalds has loads of hand waving, glass tapping interactivity going on for the kids to experiment with.
It has a way to go still, but it is without doubt the future.
Let the race for the Holodeck begin. ;)
I'm one of the lucky people with a fast fibre connection (76/18 Mbps) so streaming games would not be an issue. My latency of 9ms can be though, especially as playing on console means less than optimal matchmaking for low pingers at times. And there are never as many options server latency wise as there are with PC.
I think both console companies embracing the cloud gaming space could help speed up fibre Internet rollout worldwide, which in turn could lead to a more balan...
First blood is without doubt the definitive film in the series and deserves a good attempt for the fans.
I was disappointed that the trailer was purely movie footage renamed Rambo the video game trailer. :(
@isarai
I find it funny that for years the fact that 360 had more total sales was brought up in nearly every conversation concerning the two. Yet as soon as the PS3 gets ahead it doesn't matter :/
But that's precisely the point. With a head start of 7 million units, the 360 could have been outsold every year by 1 million units. Trend analysis is the important statistic, not overall volume to date. :o)
