These prophets have been prophesizing the consoles demise basically since n64 days. Just like doomsdayers have prophesized the end of the world for thousands of years.

Neither have come true yet. These kinds of people just don't get it. As if that wasn't obvious enough being this is from Fox news NY.

Consoles may EVOLVE and turn into something completely different from today, but home gaming consoles are not going anywhere anytime soon. They may func...

Lol @ all these gaming sites who think that Anonymous as a whole is a small consistant organized group of hackers.

Anonymous IS nothing but groups of "independent cells" that act on their own. When will they realize this? The group they're trying to refer to is "SonyOps" not Anonymous as a whole.

THATS THE WHOLE POINT OF THE ANONYMOUS NAME. There is no collective identity, it's simply "Anonymous". Anyone that wants to us...

I think it's funny how people will defend Sony no matter what, even when a Sony employee says something like this. Apparently you guys think it's okay for Sony to be clueless about an exploit that is "known of in the world."

That's completely disregarding the fact that Sony had been threatened for several weeks prior by Anonymous telling them to "expect us." Yet somehow this took Sony by complete surprise?

Eh but what does thi...

Most security experts like those constantly practice to deal with intrusions and hackers. Many leading security firms employ hackers to hack into their systems so they can get real practice and then see where their exploits are and how to handle it.

Seriously, what do you think security experts and firms DO? You should probably read the article so you can actually understand their criticisms against Sony, instead of getting defensive as soon as you hear experts criticizing So...

What console doesn't get boring without SOFTWARE? I love how everyone equates the 3DS' lack of interesting launch titles to mean that the 3DS itself as a console is boring. Jesus, what new console HASN'T launched with boring software? The 360 was incredibly boring for literally a year until Gears of War launched, and then it started to pick up steam. The PS3 had an equally boring launch, and took some time before it started getting interesting titles. Both consoles didn't get ...

The magic of old games will never be recaptured again because we had to use our imaginations more back then. The graphics were not as expressive and there was mostly no voice acting, so we had to develop an image and a voice for the characters in our head using our imaginations. Now today that's no longer.

But the worst thing about games today is that they've become SO expensive to create, that publishers and developers are no longer willing to take risks creating new...

People just have no idea how Anonymous works. The only reason the Sonyops crew was "anonymous" is because they claimed themselves under Anonymous. Technically, Anonymous is just groups of people who meet on 4chan. 4chan does not have usernames or registration, all posters post under "anonymous." And 4chan is a haven for hackers and people who create most of the memes on the Internet.

To say the hackers who hacked PSN isn't anonymous is pointless, beca...

Lol, that guy actually said this "contact" was a "well established" member of Anonymous. Lawl.

...people really have no clue how Anonymous works. There's no such thing as a well established member, because ANYONE can claim anonymous, hence the entire name anonymous. All it comes from is 4chan, where there is no registration and every user name is "anonymous." They all probably met on 4chan. But there's millions of users on 4chan, and thes...

Yes, we all realize that we shouldn't use the same passwords. But realistically, how feasible is it to have a different password for every site. And how is it the consumers fault for trusting Sony with their login information? This would have totally not been an issue for this guy if Sony had made people aware of the POTENTIAL THREAT a week ago. Key word being potential. Sony didn't have to say outright that the information was compromised, but it would have been very helpful to let ...

I really had a feeling that's exactly what would happen. There's no way MS is just letting banned consoles back online to be a nice guy. Pretty smart move by MS and it's clearly working.

@randomwhiz for the millionth time, it's not the CC info that matters. It's the fact that the obtained all our personal information. Login information, passwords, email addresses, billing addresses, security questions. These are all pieces of information that frauders use to steal a persons identity. And do you even understand how serious of a problem identity theft is if it happens to you? It's not as simple as calling the bank to cancel your credit card. It can have a lifelong i...

You really think that's the only useful bit of information that the hackers can get? People like you are so clueless. It's not just the threat of someone using your credit card, but all the other personal information they mght have stolen. Things like your billing address, your password, your login email, password security question and answers. Once a hacker knows your password, then they practically know all your passwords. Most people use the same login information for all their onl...

No, you're missing the point. Sony knew there was a potential that customer information had been compromised a week ago, otherwise they wouldn't have taken the PSN offline. It was taken offline to ensure that the hackers couldn't get any more information than they had already gotten.

So, sure they couldn't outright declare they knew information had been stolen, but they had enough of an inclination to bring their entire network down. And if they had THAT much ...

Yea seems most likely given that timeline and the fact Sony just updated dev consoles. Plus Sony hasn't shared any information at all. If Anonymous did this, they would definitely take credit for it seeing as the whole point of their prior attacks was for attention. There's no reason for them to be so public before and then out of nowhere do something like this without taking credit.

@deadlyfire because Nntendo probably hasn't named it yet. They used the "revolution" name publicly for a long time until finally settling on "Wii"

What an idiot, he's comparing clock speeds...wow. Clock speed is almost completely irrelevant in measuring system performance. In fact, a better architecture could have a lower clock speed because of the efficiency of it's architecture and still be far more powerful. So an 80% higher clock speed could mean 80% more performance, it could mean 200% more performance, or it could even mean less performance. Just look at the old Intel days versus the PowerPC, Intel had much higher clock sp...

Bring back Sakaguchi and the rest of the original Squaresoft team, and maybe well see magic happen once again. Square needs Sakaguchi back, as well as Monolith Soft, to get back the old Squaresoft we loved.

Buuuuut that's not likely gonna happen :(

Nintendo hasn't even announced anything yet and the media is already gearing up the sensationalism. Typical.

It probably won't be another Wii, but it will still likely do well. Nintendo seems to have learned from their mistakes, and with the 3DS they've been actively pushing third party content and letting them have the spotlight. I imagine they'll continue with that on the next Wii, and try to help third party development as well as perhaps bring back the goo...

I want to hear you try to somehow spin Sonys actions of demanding a plaintiffs computer and hard drive EVEN AFTER Sony scared them away from pursuing with the lawsuit. Yes, after the plaintiff gave up on the lawsuit, Sony still demanding access to that individuals computer and hard drive, which has no relevance to the case to begin with, despite the fact that the person was no longer seeking a lawsuit.

Give me a break. I LOVE my PS3/PS2/psx just as much as you guys, but that ...

I wonder if you would say those things if Modern Warfare wasn't currently the most popular game in the industry. Funny how so many people feel the need to hate on games when they become a phenomenon, but they really don't take the time to think that maybe there's a reason why the games became that way. People all went and started playing Modern Warfare because they are fun games.

It's also funny how people think EA is some "good" publisher now. Lol, ...
