I'm not too surprised - most games have been GPU-bottlenecked for a while, and most system builders tend to sink more of their money into the GPU than the CPU.
haha, good call!
good point - plenty of games require 256 or 512k to run smoothly, but specify 'broadband' on the box for ease of use.
Also what are they going to call the aforementioned 512kb connections now that broadband is off the table?
not at all - a much cheaper pc will do the job just fine and make crysis look heaps prettier than any other game out there. These set-ups are really just for the enthusiasts; kind of like expensive cars - they'll go faster but you'll pay for it.
Link us a few of the screwy sites, I'll see if the problems happen on my copy of firefox.
Trackmania has an option for this, it kinda detracted from the casualness of it and my depth perception of the track though...so I tend to leave it disabled.
yeah, that was pretty bad. I've seen a fry-pan cpu heatsink do that before, but that needed heating up first and was connected directly to the die. There's no way the above vid would would work that quick and with such a large gap.
yeah, I was too for a bit - go to http://www.google.com.au/fa... and hit f5 - it should change to the new one (it's a blue lower case g with a fading light grey background)
The Linux version comes with 20gb of solid state storage, while the Windows counterpart one comes with just 8. The price difference is just $47 - $612USD vs $565USD
Bah - Global warming has never killed anyone - fold on I say!! :p
I think the data has been used in quite a few research papers, all of which can be used to better understand various conditions.

hmmm, I thought I'd seen this before...its still a shocking name though
Gee I really cant wait - high res textures, mods and mouse-aiming FTW! particularly the mods - I spent hours playing a tonne of different ones and edited the odd config file - so much fun can be gotten out of it, GTA is ultimate living sandbox!!!!
@9.2 - crysis won't be able to run on the ps3 as well as on PC simply because the ps3 doesnt have anywhere near enough ram to support all the textures. I'm sure they'll get the engine and farcry2 to run (and I've heard positive things from the dev about it) but crysis was really designed to run on at *least* 1Gb of ram and the ps3/360 don't have 1/2 that.
"Boston's critically acclaimed title moved from the console to the PC"
Correct me if I'm wrong but I was certain that if it wasn't simultaneous development, then the PC would have been the lead (though I'm quite sure it was simultaneous development). It's a lot easier to scale things down than up afterall.
hahaha - that looks truly awesome! The mechanics reminds me a lot of Stick Soldiers.
While theres the demand for it they'll keep doing it - the problem lies with the consumer. Also the constant waring drives the technology forwards as well, just look at what the cold war did for military development.
The whole price thing really comes down to your situation - If you're still leeching off your parents (pro-tip: its a top idea) and they have multiple high def TV's lying around and are willing to buy lower end computers for your school/uni work then a console has to be the way to go.
If, on the other hand, you don't have a high def tv around (or it's being otherwise utilised) and have to fund your own computer for work/uni, then going a little further with a decent video card, tv-tuner...
@14.1 - it's actually a misquote ;-) (albeit quite a common one :-) )

Haha Silellak - that image is gold, gw!!
The disagrees are probably because it's a PC tech article and you decided to bring the ps3 into it (obviously without reading any part of the article). It's a relevance thing ;)
