Ubisoft: Haze not delayed until March, to be released in January-February

January 07, 2008 - Ubisoft has confirmed to Ars that the title is expected to land before March.

Ubisoft Montreal's Audrey-Ann Milot told Ars in an email that the company had "decided to postpone the release" to "put the final touches to the game," and that the game is still slated to be released in "January-February 2008."

Lots of tiny negative stuffs are blown away by the one big fact. That is this game is developed by Free Radical, not internal dev of UBI.

I've heard the same stuff and generally negative impressions BUT Uglygreen said it all:

And indeed, hopefully the can deliever and make a game worthy of their name.

There are many people that think this is going to be the "Halo Killer." In terms of sales I highly doubt that considering that Halo is unbelievably over-hyped. In terms of game play, story, graphics, etc. I'm sure it will be. Hell, any game is a Halo killer in that department.

Haze should come with the Killzone 2 beta . It's the PS3's Crackdown in terms of release date.

its not like that practice was created by MS. Remember why so many people bought zone of the enders? Thats right! The MGS2 demo was packed in. I really don't see a problem with exploiting gullibility. If you spent $60 for a game you didn't want just to get a beta invite then you deserved to be taken advantage of.

Well there was rumour of a demo coming last year from the Sony Spanish website, so I would say chances would be good.

But UT3 and Haze are two very different games. UT3 is an adrenaline rush fast paced game with crazy weapons, where as haze seems to be more along the lines of a COD4 type of FPS. I can't think of any games I want for the PS3 in the next two months so I may just pick this up as COD4 have given me nothing but problems online and UT3 is too laggy online for me right now as I'm in Europe and imported the game, most servers are hosted in the US right now which is the reason for the lag

I'm looking forward to this. I think this game has snuck under alot of peoples radar simply because it hasn't been overhyped. When it comes out I think well be pleasantly surprised.

Its Free Radical. As far as I know, they dont know how to make a bad game. It should have not only a great single player game (cos some of us still like single player) but one that is built to be played as 4 player co op as well. I much prefer co op to death matching. It been in developement for about 3 or 4 years now. I think they should have acheive a sufficient level of polish. And for those that do like DM, FR's games (GE, PD, TS) have had more multiplayer options and customisations then anything else. I'm almost positve this game will be great.

Geez i hope it come out b4 march. The game lokes good and i have it pre-orderd so the sooner the better. I also want it 4 that 4 player co-op and split screen action so me and my friends can go at it when they come over i can only hope that motorstorm 2 has 4 player co-op cus that would of had so much replay value added on it to.

I really hope this game is sorted before it hits. COD is a perfect example of a fantastic game that came up short due to online garbage support. This could be a fantastic game if it incorporates good functionality. I'm guessing most of us are going online with it, so I hope it lives up to the "next gen" promises.

I hope it comes out soon. Im not going to worry about what websites give this games what scores. It caught my interest so I am buying. If its not that great to me after I buy it , oh well, but if I buy it because someone told me to and I dislike it then I would be upset for taking someone elses word for it when their taste might be very different from mine. For example, I know how much everyone likes Warhawk but after I bought it, I honestly didnt like it. Maybe cause Im not that good in it, never got the hang of it so I stopped playing it. Yet the game has sold well and is very popular but my taste is different. Just goes to show.

Update: Ars was contacted by Ubisoft again last night to correct what was previously said: the new release window is indeed January-March 2008 (or Q4), and thus the game could very well end up arriving in March.

If it is march im not getting it, i will wait till they bring out TS4 as we all know that cant be bad.

does 1 or 2 months make a difference in getting it or not getting it? Just curious. Timesplitters 4 doesn't appear too close on the horizon.

Anyways, I'm a complete 007/PD purist and Timesplitters: FP was great, but not as enthralling as the Rare games for N64. I'm a huge fan of Free Radical's potential though for obvious reasons. I wouldn't care if the game was a few months here or there if it ends up making the difference of this generations PD (which is a huge feat if possible). 60 days doesn't seem like much when most delays are more like 6 months IMO.

I may or not get this game tbh, I know its made by the guys from TS but that does not make the game excellent from the offset. However, its people's expections which from their last IP's made them think this game will be excellent. I'm gonna wait for some reviews and see what many people think about it, plus a demo would help.

I'm not so sure about this game. Bad vibes all around for it in previews and such. And don't be so hung up on who's developing it people. Remember Lair? Yeah, Factor 5 sure is a reliable developer now aren't they?

Anyways, my PS3 will be too busy in March playing GT5: Prologue.

Free Radical made Goldeneye, Perfect Dark (on N64), and the great Timesplitters series. they also made an underlooked game called Second Sight, which had one of the best stories i've played in gaming last generation, and solid gameplay.

at the least, Haze will be fun, and have a great story.

i mean, isn't "fun" the criteria most people judge their games by? not innovative features, or mind-numbing graphics, but *FUN? well, *I DO. i don't care about anybody else.

i'm hoping the game comes out in January, because i'm reserving February for Devil May Cry 4.
