Will PlayStation Home Survive the Transition to PS4?

I expect them to end up running Home on Gaikai. Could help improve the service ,wouldn't need to download updates to every area.Should make moving between areas quicker also.An Home is getting quite large eating up a good bit of HDD space,streaming it would certainly reduce that.

I think had Sony followed through with the idea of integrating home as the main interface of th3 PS3 as an option over the XMB it could have been better received and a bigger hit than it was.

Home can be so cool with the new features of PS4. Streaming game uploads from players in a movie theater type setting is something that comes mind. Don't know how realistic something like that would be but it would be cool.

Home is a great place to walk around with a fat, long bearded avatar with the default clothes they give you. The people there are so nice as they constantly throw insults at you while they crowd around the women avatars they think are real women.

The games are fun too.

The only way I'd begin to care about Home is if Sony assigned points to trophies and made those points redeemable for virtual Home goodies. Recently there have been MANY complaints about microtransactions, but for some odd reason I haven't seen Home mentioned in these complaints.

Why is that odd? Home is a free app, not a game you have to buy. There's lots of free content too. I don't think Home can be reasonably connected to the usual complaints about microtransactions.

Home isn't meant for everybody to "care about." I don't even use it once a year, but I'm not gonna deprive the people that DO use it of the fun because it's not really for me.

And you haven't seen Home mentioned in reference to microtransaction complaints because Home isn't some core game you pay 60 bucks for. And though it's full of games, Home itself is not something you can pay-to-win, so it doesn't really fit into the typical argument against microtransactions anyway.

Do people use Home? Since its reveal, I thought it would fail terribly. Second Life was already failing, and Home seemed to be almost the same thing. And I remember that before it was launched, people said that it was going to be amazing and whatnot.

Honestly its not bad. Only problem I have with it is you have to download every area individually when you first see them and loading times are not ideal. Other than that its okay and has fun mini games for free. Bowling, Poker, and other mini games with puzzles, racing, and so on.

Home is a fun place to be despite the extreme negativity from people who never went back to it and constantly complain about people always bothering them.Strange how I go to Home and never get an over abundance of people disturbing me.No doubt just the usual exaggeration and dramatics by gamers. Back when I was a casual HOMEr (is that a thing?), I used to troll around as a hot girl, telling everyone to follow. People act as if your forced to use Home. If YOU don't like then don't use it. I don't use it but I know there are millions of people out there that do. So for them, it would be great for it to go to the PS4. Some people love that type of a social feature. If it was a complete failure like some of you like to spread then why when you log on it always filled with people. Failure=empty. Don't like it then don't use it and it's a simple as that. Oh well, we'll see what happens.

The thing with PlayStation Home many people expected it to be a game, when it's just a place to be social with people who have PlayStation Network.

I just hope they improve on the concept because unlike Xbox Avatar's the PlayStation Avatars actually have a purpose. I would like to see more interaction with real world events to some degree. Most of all I think it's a way for Sony get money from other stakeholders besides consumers.

Home is a cool idea but having to download all the new rooms and update them frequently made the experience less enjoyable. If they can somehow make everything more streamlined i think it would be way cooler than it is now.

Judging by how sony clamied that the PS4 can play stuff while its still downloading the content i think this will make Home much funner to navigate.

Probably not, i think the beta thing is a joke since it is by definition always evolving.

I believe it will. Home has shifted to become a mostly sever based service. The only home assets really stored on the ps3 anymore are the locations and object placements. Home is more of an app now. That should make for an easy transition to ps4... and hopefully the vita.

Edit: I just realized that there's home tycoon in Home. I don't normally visit every spaces, so that one kinda slipped by me somehow.

Home has gotten even better recently with the locomotion that includes things like super powers,wings, motorbikes, exosuits and animals to ride on and a place that you can make companions that follow you around.Flying around on my black fallen angel wings or super cape makes it easier then just walking

If you take a look at the official list of PS4 developers, you'll see some Home only devs listed. And i've heard from a few different Home site admins & devs that its coming to PS4 and sony was interested in bringing it over. It will be interesting to see how all the PS4 social features will work with Home. That video sharing feature will be great for it since seperate video capture equipment will be needed anymore. I still don't know if the sharing will be good enough to match the quality of capture equipment, probably not is my guess but good enough for the casual user.

Since one of Sony main goal with the PS4 has to do with social stuff, it would make sense for them to bring PS Home to the PS4. Home is an awesome social App. And i hope they do something with trophies to work with Home. Having trophies give exclusive home items (like costume of the characters, set pieces, etc.) will give more meaning to trophies and could get people,who uses PS HOME, to go out and buy a game for exclusive content they could unlock by earning trophy. And people who plays game and trophy hunt could probably get into Home cuz of all the cool things they unlock to showoff. I feel it could be awesome if they somehow got developer to make virtual items for trophies!

IN short: Home users buy games for exclusive trophy unlock items. Gamers use home to check out unlock items = Games being bought and trophy unlock being more satisfying!
