I thought it was a stupid coment

Kingdom Come4476d ago (Edited 4476d ago )

Claims the guy who spelt, "comment" incorrectly...

-MD-4476d ago (Edited 4476d ago )

Thinking someone's comment is dumb and suffering a slip of the finger on a keyboard are completely different things.

vortis4476d ago

I always thought it was "spelled" but I guess English class was wrong.

TooTall194476d ago

Spelt

verb
a simple past tense and past participle of spell.

@vortis
English class was not wrong. You just missed one of the classes.

Jobesy4476d ago

@vortis, "spelt" is correct. Look it up before you make yourself look dumb.

nveenio4476d ago

Just because it's a word doesn't mean its use is correct.

When it comes to "spelled" vs. "spelt", it's really a matter of where it's being used. In British-English, "spelt" is perfectly acceptable, even though its use has seen a decline in recent years.

In American-English, however, "spelt" is considered incorrect by just about any publishing editor that has a brain. In American-English, "spelled" has always been proper. That doesn't mean "spelt" is wrong...it just means that it's not appropriate in American-English for professional writing.

Since this isn't professional writing, and it's just a comment on N4G, I don't think we should be too picky. Especially since every comment arguing about grammar contains one error or another.

For example, "Claims the guy who spelt, "comment" incorrectly..." contains improper use of punctuation.

"I always thought it was "spelled" but I guess English class was wrong." also contains punctuation errors.

"spelt is correct." contains a capitalization error.

And even my comment is littered with dozens of errors, just to prove the point. So let's not get too crazy.

No, some are ready/been ready to move on from WW2 or just don't want to see another ww2 game. For goodness sake stop reviving ww2 let it stay dead. There are plenty of other wars to make games out of.

TooTall194476d ago

Let the gaming community speak with their wallets.

Asgaro4476d ago

You fail to realize 60% of the COD gaming population has never played any WWII game. I refer to all the kids and casual shooter fans. Their first shooter was probably COD4.

Just saying that there IS a new market for WWII games.

Also, I personally have played COD1, COD2, MoH AA, MoH PA back in the (good old) days ... and I do want a new WWII title :D

Pintheshadows4476d ago

They probably played World at War. I'd rather see fresh ideas. Or maybe a revival of Vietnam games like Vietcong and Men of Valour Vietnam.

GroundsKeeperJimbo4475d ago

I'd love to see the MAG style of game-play redone in a WWII fashion. Think of Omaha Beach with 64v64 or reclaiming Paris 128v128.

Oh well. Waiting for next gen. :]

frostypants4475d ago

WW2 is the earliest era that is practical for a war game. WW1 tactics were trench warfare, and prior to that you've got musket ball rifles and what not. There's a good reason for the popularity of WW2 in FPS games.

What I like is that they also provide a good excuse to do away with gimmicky cheap stuff like infantry radar (why they put it in all modern-setting FPS games I'll never understand, since no such technology exists in real life). WW2 FPS game tend to be a more pure tactical experience.

Besides, it was the most insanely massive war in world history. So there's also that...

Parasyte4476d ago

Personally, I wouldn't mind playing another WW2 game. Not necessarily CoD or Battlefield, but I think another WW2-themed game with solid multiplayer could be fun.

SilentNegotiator4475d ago

I just don't want to play the Battle of Normandy for the billionth time. For the love of gaming.

MoH: Frontline did some pretty interesting things after the first stage. At least setting wise....the gameplay itself hasn't held up all that great, but that's besides the point.

I'll take any era if they don't force historical correctness and make gameplay the number one concern.

Parasyte4475d ago

All of your reasons, I think, are why I liked Call of Duty: World at War so much.

frostypants4475d ago

I would love to see DICE to a WW2 expansion for BF3 the same way they did the Vietnam expansion for BFBC2 (i.e., a $20 expansion that is effectively a whole new game).

The thing with WW2 is how much variety it allows for. You've got forest and mountain warfare in Europe, you've got island and jungle warfare in the Pacific, you've got desert warfare in North Africa.

D3mons0ul4476d ago (Edited 4476d ago )

How about fictional wars? Make your own stuff up, like how Metal Gear is. It takes place in the real world but the conflict is entirely fictional while still being based on reality and real world events.

Yeah, go down down that route. And stop shaving everybody's head.

And I don't mean be generic with it either. How about a plot that revolves around bio-terror? Why is it always nukes? Why isn't the president ever captured anymore? Why is everything just "AMERICA FUCK YEAH" all the time? Shouldn't there also be 2 single player modes so that you can get the story from the eyes of each faction involved? Why is everything always so one sided?

morventhus4476d ago

Well I have a feeling that the reason it is always Newks and "America" all the time is cause...well video games sell alot in America... and all the casual and bro gamers can relate to newks and well bros like yelling EMERIKAH FEECKS YAAAAH!!! (sorry for stereotyping) and since it seems like they make the majority of the market its easier to go the safe route and cater to them...

and with the two sided campaign.... i can totally see some stupid activist group going head over heels over the other side saying.... playing this campaign supports terrorists.... it lets you murder children tarnish America.... or something stupid like that...
Though i agree i would love to see a video game like that

peowpeow4475d ago

This is why I love Assassin's Creed games. It revolves around historical events and today but has it's own huge twists behind it. One of my favourite game stories

RememberThe3574476d ago

I'm not and I don't think I'll ever be. I've fought in every battle and done everything you can do in WWII, I'm done with it.

D3mons0ul4476d ago

I think it comes down to a "lesser of two evils" situation.

DeadIIIRed4475d ago

Really? You fought in the Battle of Brest, the largest tank battle in history?

Old and New: My Adventures in Sniper Elite V2

Jason was woefully unprepared for the slower-paced nature of Sniper Elite V2 — originally from the last-gen of consoles and now on practically everything (He played on his Switch). There’s no running and gunning, but there are certainly cool set pieces.

Six new games arrive via Backwards Compatibility on Xbox One – Are they worth the return?

Carlos writes "2017 was a great year for the Xbox Backwards Compatibility program with many of our favourite 360 games made playable on Xbox One. That said, there are still a ton of highly requested games yet to arrive in the program and with 2018 set to see even more added, it makes sense that the first of the years new additions are now being given the treatment. This past week has seen six new games made backwards compatible, but which ones are worth returning to once more?"

"Six new games arrive via Backwards Compatibility"
Does anyone not see the funny side to this statement? I do... lol

PassNextquestion2287d ago

There's actually 6 shown, there's 3 Magic the gathering games + 3 other games.

fxa52092287d ago

Indeed... hahaha... it should be six old games coming to backwards comparability....

Get an OG Xbox then. Let the Xbox One focus on new games please.

Yohshida2287d ago (Edited 2287d ago )

I have one and around 100 og games, but I want to use my Elite controller and games look horrible on my tv with the og. Also streaming is easy and I have all the new features. Let Gamers focus on playing what they want and stop hating

Death2287d ago

@Unreal,

Are you saying the backwards compatibility team should make a new game? It’s silly to see people making these comments since one does not affect the other. 6 more games are now playable on Xbox One. This is a good thing especially if you are one of the rare individuals that haven’t played every single game that has been released in the past.

yomfweeee2287d ago

@Death

Every penny they spend on this is a penny they could spend on new games. Microsoft doesn't have any open checkbook for the division to waste just because the company is worth billions.

chaos-emeralds2287d ago (Edited 2287d ago )

No point, Microsoft stripped the HD modes out of the original Xbox. The games look crap on it now. The backwards compatibility for them on Xbox one is very welcome. They look amazingly crisp.

PUBG2287d ago

I love backwards compatibility. Lately I've been playing through the Mass Effect Trilogy, and I've also been playing Burnout Paradise, which I love. I'm hoping that they make GRAW1 backwards compatible, since I never got to play the 360 version of the game, which was the only good version made. The PC and PS2 versions of GRAW1 sucked bad.

There are many younger gamers who have never experienced many of the older games from the last two generations, so it would be great for those people to experience some of the great games of the past. Personally, despite the graphics obviously not being as good a current gen games, I think the games from last gen were much better than what we've been getting this generation by far.

Don't get me wrong, there are some great games this gen, but there was just a lot more interesting things going on last gen. As an example, EA was actually making lots of great great games last gen, but this gen things have been disappointing with them to say the least.

NoPeace_Walker2286d ago (Edited 2286d ago )

Unreal..but does the OG Xbox play Ninja Gaiden Black at native 1080p on the XB1 or native 4k like on the X? 🤔

Let the man decides for himself just like Xbox fans don't go around and tell PS4 gamers to use their PS2 to play Shadow of Colossus instead of spending $40 on the 2nd HD remake on PS4.

Yohshida2285d ago

I just love that I only need 1 box to rule them all. Get the X and play the best versions of all xbox generations of games. Its a nobrainer why people like BC

Lime1232285d ago

Yup, even PS4 has more games from 6th generation.

Cherchez La Ghost2287d ago

Nope! I wish they did.. I'm waiting for Dante's Inferno, Castlevania 1 & Max Payne 3 to be BC one day.

TheOttomatic912287d ago

Ya me too, I just wish MS would add 4K support for other 360 BC games besides Halo 3, Mirrors Edge, Oblivion etc.

Zerobalance2287d ago (Edited 2287d ago )

I love the Sniper elite series & V2 is a great game & as I still have my 360 copy I'm good to go. Great news & it's free for me too.
