The Oracle: Bethesda deserves a lot of credit for their Radiant AI engine that runs the game now. Not only does it create a beautiful, immersive, open world environment for the player to spend hours exploring, but it gives life to each town and road of Skyrim. Not to mention its actually able to create characters that actually look like real people and is even able to give them features that make them seem attractive, rather than Bethesda's notoriously deformed looking character models.
Replaying Skyrim after 13 years is a reminder of the progress made in western RPGs over the last decade, but also what's been lost.
RPGs are often huge, sprawling endeavours. With limited playtime, we have to choose wisely, so here's the best western RPGs available today.
