Is that a child in a red shirt running past you.....

Theres children in Elder Scrolls now...about time. Although I bet you can't harm them like the ones in Fallout. Don't get me wrong killing children is wrong but this is a computer game. Some of the brats in Fallout were annoying, am I the only one who wanted to blow Mayor Maccready's head off in little lamp light.

Anyway it would bring up more punishing consequences, like you go to prison longer, you gain a bad name around Skyrim if you've been caught, the Father/Mother will try and kill you after a while...randomly, they could be a small challenge aswell.

It would just make things more realistic

RedDead4988d ago

You're right though. No killing children, the only real reason to do it is because it's realistic. Bethesda. Bethesda just say "NO, WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO DO THAT?!?". Obviously they just don't want the heat of the media.

Yes, I can agree with that, their statement to gay marriage was "We didn't think it was special, we just didn't want to make a big deal out of it". So nice. ^^
To the topic of killing them: One word: Mods. Of course, the stuff you described (parents coming after you) would be a little harder to pull off...
Anyway, I was one of the lucky ones at Gamescom (who accepted waiting 1.5 hours to see it - I really got kinda lucky there) who saw a 30 minutes presentation of this game, and when I saw children I honestly was kinda surprised - in a positive way of course. I loved the difference it made to Fallout 3 compared to Oblivion. Quest from children who are alone because their parents have been killed for whatever reason, blah blah. Amazing.

I'm more stoked for Skyrim than ever before. The other vids at the source were awesome. AWESOME I tells ya!

Xalaris4988d ago

I'll probably end up killing everyone anyway.

Out of boredom, obviously... :3

lastdual4988d ago (Edited 4988d ago )

Sometimes realism isn't worth the tradeoff.

Not even GTA has allowed you to murder kids, as that would get the game an instant AO rating and end up with it banned from many retailers and some countries altogether.

Honestly, I'm just glad that the game has children at all. As long as they run away when attacked, I doubt them being unkillable will be that big of a deal.

grailly4988d ago

you could sell them as slaves in fallout though, that was good enough for me.

Gray-Fox-Type04988d ago

game going to be amazing and can not wait, but the video its just player speaking to a NPC not somthing to get hyped about haha

Motorola4988d ago

Either there are children or his character is a very very short person. But yeah i think there are children

All skyrim gameplayes are amazing and this one of course.

MidnytRain4988d ago

Amazing? All I saw was dialogue trees, and I couldn't even make out what they were saying.

Muitnorts4988d ago

That's true, but somehow even that got me very excited. Just seeing how much smoother the interaction is than in Oblivion.

Looks incredible, November needs to hurry up

HeavenlySnipes4988d ago

That looked like a midget being chased by a dog, not a kid....

SephirothX214988d ago

PC mods will allows children to be killed and killed they will be! Muwahahahahahaha!

vyke34988d ago (Edited 4988d ago )

*sigh* this is the only time I wanted to play on PC... SO I COULD KILL THOSE ANNOYING BRATS!!! WITH THOSE ANNOYING SQUEEQY LITTLE VOICES LIKE IN COD LOBBIES!!!

GT_Ken4988d ago

Comments like this one are exactly why they WON'T be killable, and probably shouldn't be.

You just compared a digital recreation of a child to kids in a real live videogame lobby. Your comment insinuates that you want to kill the kids you hear with squeaky voices when you are playing CoD.

While they annoy me, killing them is never the thought that goes through my head.

vyke34988d ago

@GT_Ken
lol. you actually took me seriously?

Hayabusa 1174988d ago

Yeah vyke3, don't make comments like that on the internet or you'll scare the developers from actually putting it into the game...say nothing, pretend it isn't a big deal, and then when they think it's safe, and they think we'll play with their features responsibly...BOOYA! Take that ten year old...

Fallout and Skyrim show us that talented developers make great games when you leave them alone

That judicious lack of oversight permeated everything in Bethesda's RPGs, in a positive fashion.

Christopher9d ago

I much prefer a left alone Obsidian and Larian Studios. Bethesda's formula has grown old for me.

anast7d ago

Larian hit another level with DOS:2 and then took it even further with BG3. They do high quality work.

jznrpg8d ago (Edited 8d ago )

Skyrim was a letdown compared to previous games and so was Fallout 4

Kosic7d ago

I agree, I found it an interesting game. But nowhere near worth the hype (unless you include mods)

dmonee8d ago

Skyrim blew my mind when it released. That game took me to the gaming, promisedland. Going back to it when it was updated for the PS5, it felt slightly rough around the edges, but great for its time

TheColbertinator8d ago

We should leave Obsidian alone. Bethesda on the other hand should be kept under constant psychiatric observation.

anast7d ago

Skyrim feels like the game was made in a hurry with a disorganized team.
