Runic Games: Torchlight 2 Will Need To Be "Completely Rebuilt" On The Xbox 360

In an interview with Dealspwn.com, Runic Games CEO Max Schaefer states that the Xbox 360's 512MB of RAM will not be enough to support Torchlight 2 without a massive overhaul.

*waits for the "Runic games don't know what they're doing" comments*

i think you have 360 owners confused with ps3 fanboys. They bro the ones that will usually tell us how other devs should go to Naughty Dog for help because they don't know what they are doing anytime a dev says anything remotely negative about ps3

gamingdroid4630d ago

Well if the Xbox 360 doesn't have enough RAM then the PS3.... should all go to Naughty Dog for advice!

NuclearDuke4630d ago

"Considering that Torchlight's art style was actually designed so that "it wouldn't need the latest shaders and could run on most PCs," we're a little surprised by the statement -"

What? Surprised? Guys....512MB, I doubt ANY PC still runs with this. You wouldn't even be able to open the newest version of Internet Explorer with that little memory.

Blues Cowboy4630d ago

The article does state that the XBLA version of Torchlight suffers from occasional slowdown, demonstrating that this is a real problem.

@ Quartx: Heh, I hope not. Runic games clearly know what they're doing, which is making an exceptional game!

Spinal4630d ago

Looooool xD wouldnt even be able to run internet explorer rofl.

Perjoss4630d ago

Give me a retail boxed version if you cannot fit it into the xbla file size limit, and I will make the purchase!

gamingdroid4630d ago

The article discusses RAM not storage space.

Perjoss4630d ago

thank you for correcting me, I still want a boxed version.

Raven_Nomad4630d ago (Edited 4630d ago )

Microsoft should just raise the limit. 3 GB's should suffice, plus with the cost and value of these games going up, it only makes sense.

It's beyond obvious that XBL has the best selection of games and they need to keep developers relatively happy. Just look at the Summer Of Arcade, was the best one yet! fantastic!

@JohnnyMann420
My bad, I didn't read the article. I thought it was the same one I read a few days ago. Which was about the amount of space your allowed on XBL.

Personally, I think they will get it on the 360 at some point either way. Too profitable not to do so. The first game sold really well.

JohnnyMann4204630d ago

Dude.. 512 MBs of RAM not Hard Drive space...

XBL's DL limit is a not an issue like it used to be.

gamingdroid4630d ago

Yeah, I haven't heard a size complaint in a long time. That said, there is always disc release. If you have too big size on downloads, it will limit your audience.

Spinal4630d ago

^^ Are you guys not reading the article? runic states that the 512MB of Ram on the Xbox is nto enough to run the Pc version of TL2. so they have to rebuild it for the console and to think the PS3 has less RAM than the 360.
