Extra Guy writes: "In a weird news episode that will be weirdest for loyal Extra Guy readers, a Eugene, Oregon man found himself on the hot end of a SWAT team raid after a heated exchange over a game of FortressCraft ended in a real-life grief. The prank, affectionately known as 'swatting', involved a bogus 911 call that claimed a man had shot his father with a shotgun and was threatening to shoot himself. The caller was exacting some vengeance on the Eugene man, after having obtained his address."
Digital DNA Games has revealed that their uber-popular CastleMiner Z has now become the second most downloaded Xbox Live Indie Game of all time.
"XBOX Indie Game sensation FortressCraft has had their latest patch drop. Content Patch 9 brings a new, flesh-hungry element to the game – zombies. Of course, with zombies comes the tools one needs to fight off the horde – which can be as large as 512 zeds. Sawblades and turrets have been added to defeat the brain-hungry masses; however, those who purchase ProjectorGames’ other title, Steam Heroes, will also have the Harrison Axe with which to slug the monstrosities. Zombies are fully customizable and, upon entering a new world, you’ll never know what variation of these walking dead you’ll be going up against."
Both heavily inspired by Minecraft, Total Miner: Forge and FortressCraft locked horns but it was the former that come out on top, having now pushed out more units than the latter on the Xbox Live Indie Games Marketplace.
TM: Forge was a horrific Minecraft clone. Not only did the controls not work well, but the gameplay got so boring.
This is only in the US ( http://marketplace.xbox.com... & http://marketplace.xbox.com... ) and FortressCraft has not sold 1 million units as stated in the article.
