With the holidays comming, the movies they have, and the $399 PS3.

nasim6041d ago

atleast in JAPAN and EU for BLU RAY

marinelife96041d ago

It simply comes down to movies. Blu-Ray has more movies that I actually want to see in hi-def.

cdzie16041d ago (Edited 6041d ago )

I reported this story as false.

The headline & story are misleading; there is no mention that the data is only from one store.

NPD, which tracks all stores, shows last week: BD-54% HD DVD-46% and HD DVD has been averaging above 40% for the last 5 weeks.

XxZxX6041d ago

Let just change the title to "Despite outsold by Blu-ray, HD-DVD still won", just to please cdzie1.

AdolfBinBush6041d ago

this story is 100% false, earlier i found a few websites which say just the opposite.

Sashy6041d ago

know if the lord of the ring trilogi is coming for blu-ray?

Blood_Spiller6041d ago (Edited 6041d ago )

I read a while back that it was, let me see if I can find a link.

Yep here it is:
"The Lord of the Rings Trilogy will be released on both Blu-ray and HD-DVD on November 23, 2007.

As a gesture of good faith over the Matrix release, New Line/WB will be releasing only the Extended Editions on Blu-ray at this time, while HD-DVD will get only the Theatrical Versions.

The Blu-ray version will be on a BD50 in VC-1 with PCM. It will also showcase a lot of the neat features of BD-J."

Baba19066041d ago

that would be so cool. im also waiting for x-man collection. hope they make that.

THE_JUDGE6041d ago

Sorry to tell you but New Line has no plans to release any of the LOTR trilogy in any HD format quite yet. As you should know they are still currently in a legal battle with writer/director Peter Jackson about the money he and his company aren't receiving from the success of the film. Until 08 and prolly the end of the legal proceedings no HD format will see any the films released. BTW New Line is format neutral but has shown favor to Blu-ray on more than one occasion.

Why Monopolies In Gaming Must Not Be Allowed

As of right now, there are no monopolies in the games industry, and for the sake of the medium as a whole, they never should either.

thorstein6h ago

Shouldn't be allowed in any field.

Inverno2h ago

And yet the biggest tech companies in America are essentially that. They buy up all the small comps only to kill them off and steal what they have, and if they can't buy em they bleed them to death.

jwillj2k41h ago

Eventually they’ll realize the value is with the employee not the company. Buying an IP means nothing if the people who contributed are let go. They’ll get it one day.

MrCrimson1h ago

tech is different because they buy threats and then kill them. Twitter bought Vine and did nothing with it. Despite people seemingly liking it. Could've had tiktok a decade before bytedance. go figure.

Zenzuu2h ago

Monopolies shouldn't be allowed regardless. Not just for gaming.

MrCrimson1h ago

They buy IPs not talent. That's why these buyouts never work and the IPs die. Right now it's too expensive to develop games - but I expect that to shift maybe as AI tools can make it easier. The best games have been indie games for awhile as big developers fuck their ips to death with "games as a service" -
