Joseph Jackmovich of gamrFeed talks about the real reason the Call of Duty Franchise has such incredible staying power.
The game is easy so if you rock at it you automatically like it.
Multiplayer and tons of great marketing I'd say
fan base is the number 1 reason they are staying they make way more money then it costs them to make the game its self what i mean is they make a huge profit which means every time call of duty comes out they always make more money then it costs them to make itself
Mind Control.. :)
It make's annoying 12 year olds think they are good at fps xDDDD.
Tweaks to a winning formula. Thus gaining more players than they would lose with major changes. That and peer pressure.
Once COD was amazing ... now it turned into a milked cow. Latly I was playing Killzone 3 and a friend came and tried it out and he really said that Black Ops is better according to controls and everything and I thought to myseld you don't know anything about games. COD=Drug
So true. Gamers are by nature adrenaline junkies, and with CoD, it's easy to get a rush as grenades spam around you, or you sneak up and knife someone. And due to the fact that there is little penalty for dieing, gamers can run around like chickens with their heads cut off a whole match with little care and somehow still win. Ohh well... it is what it is.
The main reason i still play COD is because its become more of a social game, its one of those games that most of your friends own. Maybe one day there will be a COD has good as COD4 which started it all in my books.
I don't care about how much hate the series comes in for, I've tried other games like Killzone 3 and Crysis 2 online, they just don't have the staying power of the Infinity Ward COD games online. COD is more balanced and feels more polished online. Keep on hating, but I am looking forward to MW3 a great deal. All these other FPS are not doing it for me online.
*Cod is more balanced.* Yea and i suppose it has better graphics and game play than KZ3 son get off the hype train xDDDD.
This article is spot on. I left Uncharted 2 multiplayer to play Modern Warfare 2 just because everyone I knew (in real life) were playing the game. So I started to enjoy it, but I really only played it when my friends were. Black Ops was very shorted lived though... I will try to convince them to skip the next Call of Duty Inb4 tl;dr
Just like halo before it, the social aspect is undeniable even if the actual gameplay is flawed. Gaming is nice when you have friends to play with.
COD4 is still the best, best maps by far.
I think I COD should be priced at $39.99 for some reason.
I tell them to stop playing a game made for 12 year olds and play a real man's game.
