Quarter to three gives Halo 3 a negative review.

So, yeah, Halo 3. Biggest gaming event of the year, I suppose. Last night, I got from it everything I'm going to get from the single player game. It's short. I finished the Normal mode in a single evening, clocking maybe eight or ten hours, most of them out of a sense of obligation rather than wanting to know what happens next.

I could complain again about how Bungie has never put bots in the game, but no one expects it and it's no longer any surprise, given that Microsoft wants Halo to move Xbox Live accounts. And, to be honest, I am looking forward to jumping online when the game goes live Monday night. But I still wish I could practice the maps on my own.

I admit, I'm going to be playing Halo 3 tonight, but I think the hype is just that. IMO Halo 3 is going to be used 95% if not more for the multi. People basically just want to see a "finished story" and play Master chief through next gen graphics. (new weapons too)

And guess what!? Halo 3 has one of the biggest online features ever in a console game. Loads of maps, the forge where you build your own maps that can be uploaded for others to enjoy etc. When replaying the game on harder difficulty it also has some of the best enemy AI to date. More than you can say about the drone-like enemies in Heavenly Short, that all wear the same outfits and circle around you, just waiting to get killed.

Why does'nt MGS4 have online? Oh, it's on another disc you say? It's a "different game" that you also have to pay for?! Just like the GT5 prologue demo. I thought it would all fit on the mighty Blu-Ray, it's so big and efficient...hmmm.

I'm glad we don't get to see a gimped version of Halo 3 with "Halo online" sold separately. PS3 owners are gettin teabagged when it comes to games...

WHile the review was a bit harsh, I cant really disagree with the reviewer. Having played an finished Halo3 already, I can honestly say that its a fun game. However the reviews its getting are outrageously high. And honestly although the game was fun, it is very short. I finished it in about 9hrs where as BioShock took me a good 25hrs to finish. And thats another thing, compared to Bioshock, Halo 3's campaign mode is quite simply a joke, and could only be appealing to fans of the series. Honestly BioShock is a much better game in every aspect. The only thing Halo 3 has on BioShock is its multi-player mode, in which case I would rather play gears/warhawk and soon to come UT3.

Gears of War multiplayer sucks big hairy dogs balls! If you're not the host or live next door to the host then its just plain laggy. Also, all the multiplayer modes are all about running to the middle of a map to grab the best weapons for a 30 second showdown.

When they finally released some new maps and game mode it did get better however, there is no denying that the host advantage still plays a major role in GOW on-line.

Theres going to be dozens of reviewing companies coming out of the woodwork telling it in a way that gets them the most attention it happans everywhere.

No matter what Halo 3 turned out to be it was going to get great reviews. That's not the way it should be.

Halo 3 appears to be a great game but even when people admit that it has flaws there are no points taken off for it because they LOVE the multiplayer. I can't review Heavenly Sword and not take off for frame rate issues because I loved the font of the opening title. That's ridiculous and an uneven way of reviewing a game.

You're saying it'll get great reviews and great sales just because it's Halo 3 and all it has to be is good is I think is this guys point.

I'm getting Halo 3, like most people, because I enjoy the multiplayer with my friends (minus the lag and the childish comments). Multiplayer appears to be where Halo 3 shines and adds several options to make it playable for a very long time. To me, that's worth $60 bucks but for gosh sakes review the game with some honesty and not because it's Halo 3 and full of hype.

Bots should be a requirement for every single multi player game out there. Me and my buds are always on the look out for xbox games (not 360 ) with bots and we still cannot find one. Perfect dark for the N64 was the absolute best example of a good multi player bots wise. But as the reviewer said M$ is pushing xbox live pretty hard.
A good look at the back of most xbox game cases will turn up an "online multi player" but not always a "system linkable".
One would think if you can throw in multi player then system link should also be a given.

Anyway, that's my rant and in short...

Any game that is multi player should also include.
1. LAN play
2. BOTS

This should be the norm for all multi player titles.

P.S. Halo 3 is looking to be a HUGE blockbuster.

First of all because they're not a huge site and didn't agree with IGN or Game Spy their opinion isn't valid?

My husband is a reviewer. He finished the game in six hours, only because he had a spot of trouble near the end. I would say their summary of the single storyline is pretty accurate.

The reason nobody is submitting a review of Halo 3 as a multi-player shooter is because online play isn't running yet. Expect more positive reviews after Tuesday when they have a chance to take a look at Halo 3's strong points. Until then, don't knock them for giving an honest opinion.

Also, she did a multiplayer review also because she is a real review and was allowed to play online because of her job as a journalist.

Everyone will have their opinion... People saying they finished this game in 6 hours are either full of it or played it on the retard skill level. If you did not at least play it in Heroic mode then you need to shut your pie hole about gameplay length.. I've played a lot of FPS in my day and this was at least 12hrs on Heroic.

Halo is like a Die Hard movie, lots of shooting and dodging bullets with a decent story.. You don't go watching a Die Hard movie and expect an Academy Award.. Take the game for what it is and I believe in that context it deserves the scores it's getting. Halo has its own forumula and reviews like this site completely miss the point.. They even said it themselves that this was Bungies attempt at Lord of the Rings Trilogy.. NO IT'S NOT! For saying they had low expectations going into the single player and then reference Lord of the Rings I would say you had huge expectations.

Bottom line - The game was great, I felt it was $60 very well spent and I haven't even touched multiplayer. The story is good and it wraps up nicely at the end.

Halo is most likely a good game. I say most likely because I will base my evaluation of quality on my hands-on experience come Sept. 25. I say we all do the same. If you have any remote interest in the game purchase, rent, or steal and base your judgement on your experience. IGN and the like are great resources, but the ultimate determinant is what you think.

Give them a break if they want to think that this review is going to stop millions of people buying HALO 3,let them win this battle it is all they have. I have not played Halo 1 or 2 but I am dying for Halo3 the waiting is killing me. Tomorrow is going to be crazy

This review is a bit harsh, though I do agree with pretty much everything he said(just not on the level of harsh-ism of mr. reviewer). I think halo should get about 8.5-9.5 and no lower or higher. I know at least one review was in the high 8's and most are 9.x so everybody who yelled at me for saying that can SHOVE IT!

I know a lot have been perfects but I hardly ever even listen to perfect reviews, no matter the game. If a review is perfect, that means the reviewer has been blinded by some other fact and can't see any of the flaws. Every game has them, too.

I've heard from several 'reviewers' that the friendly A.I. is not so good. I know I shouldn't say it, but I cant help myself because of all the fanboys who made fun of other systems saying they couldnt handle the 360's A.I. Do you think they spent all of the 360's number crunching A.I. power on the bad guys and didn't have enough left to use on your teammates? this is a serious question by the way, I want to know what you think.

i dont really care for halo that much, but that was a clearly biased review. most of those points were understandable but certainly not to that magnitude.

but i do believe that bioshock is better, ill agree with him on that.

2 bit review Halo will no doubt rock but it'll get a lot more 10's than it should due to the amount of $$$ M$ has put into it ;)
Still if the online it not too glitchy you should get your moneys worth for sure. Lots of stuff Id love to see in any online game esp the Forge and the ingame movies.

i said this when i played Halo, i said this when i played Halo 2, and now im not even going to try out Halo 3, since we already know how the boooooooring "lets kill ALIENS!" gameplay is, and always has been.

its GREAT to se a non Halofanboy rewiew halo 3... since almost everyone of those guys gives it a reasonable score. and admit it... if halo was realeased on pc... it wuld never have been notised. get real folks. shooting aliens with a guy that has super hero skils?... yeeeeeeeh, inovative

My copy just came through the post so its time to finish the fight and make up my own dam mind weather it is a good game or not, if it deserves the scores its been getting or not....

i am a halo fan, having said that i have always had a doubt if halo 3's single player will be as good as halo CE... from the sound of it, its not as long which is already a dissapointment in some ways.

i am not going to say its a great game just because its halo. Halo 1 was a great because it was great. it made its name of its own back..there was no hype and was a new ip making its own space and it did better then anyone could have thought.

we will see how halo 3 turns out...

Excerlent, finally some on with the same oppinion as I did with halo 1. I actually brought it, ended it on the release, had a go on LIVE. took it back, never played any halo again and don't intend to.

well there are so many posts this will just mix right in, but I'll stick to what I said a month or so ago. Bungie just focused on the multiplayer aspect of Halo. Halo started off as this wonderful campaign of heros and enemies that people wanted to play and beat again and again. Then Halo 2 came out which for the campaign was pretty much looked down upon (myself included) H2's saving grace was online multiplayer. Thus the religion was created. Which is why Halo 3 is a perfect online game. Has a hugh arrangement of weapons which all of them are good no real junkers, but the campaign is not withstanding. It was fun I still need to finish the last 2 levels but there isn't a level to the extent of some of the middle levels of H1 and as far as multiplayer goes yes for the most part of online peeps are little douches who swear and name call and are just generally lowly people.

Halo 3 is still a great game just the fact of all this hype built around it made it impossible to fill the wants. The online aspect of Halo 3 will keep people playing it till xbox 3 comes out but I'm hoping for a Halo 4 that will focus on the single player more.
