ModNation Racers: The Road Ahead Is Lookin’ Good

PS Blog:

Hi all, In case you missed last week’s blog, I’m Mark Wilson aka “the new guy” aka “mdub” here on Team ModNation. Thank you for all the nice introductions this past week on the forums.

I am stoked to work with the ModNation Racers team here in San Diego, the awesome team at United Front Games in Vancouver, and with you, the guy (or girl) with the PS3 controller in one hand and a highly caffeinated beverage in the other, working day and night on your masterpiece of a Track, Mod, or Kart. I look forward to doing what I can to encourage and develop new creators into the family.

... but shame about all the DLC, which just means I won't be picking it up until a GOTY-edition comes out.

Really REALLY want to play this game though.

Pug4861d ago

You could be waiting a while, the nature of this game is that you will always have new mods, tracks and karts being released by the community and development team. Its very much like LBP in that regards.

I'd recommend you buy it now, although I haven't played it since much since reaching level 30 its a real blast.

Yi-Long4861d ago

... I don't support DLC, so I would be missing out on a whole bunch of content, which I will get included if I'm just patient and wait 6-12 months.

I'm a patient guy. I can wait.

I don't think there will be a game of the year edition though. Not all games come out with one just to let you know. Also, I can understand why you don't support DLC, but its this kind of DLC that needs supporting, let me explain. Lots of games, especially EA published ones, come out with DLC on the day of release, or within a week. This DLC is normally stupid shit that lets you unlock everything in the game, and get early access to things online etc...without having to play the game and work for those things. Other games may have you pay for something to unlock whats already on the disk. That is the type of DLC I myself do not support because its wrong. When its DLC that makes the game better, and more fun then I have absolutely no problem with it. If the DLC was never planned to be on the disk, like Modnation DLC, LBP, Uncharted, amongst other games, than I believe the devs should be supported.

anh_duong4861d ago

this is not a game you really need dlc for..

Man... No one seems to talk about this game anymore! :(
Best Kart Racer this gen. I love it.

Dojan1234861d ago

Are the load times better? I did not see a great improvement after the first patch. I have not really played since the first patch.

Best Kart Racing Game Ever. There I said it, even better than Mario Kart 64. The boost/shield gauge plus damn near endless Karts, Characters & Tracks. More people should support MNR, its truly underrated like Motorstorm Pacific Rift. Im Lvl 27 by the way.

5 Best Kart Racers That Aren't Mario Kart

Mario Kart has always reigned supreme when it comes to the best kart racers out there to play, but there are still a few other racers that are must-plays.

Sad, hopefully they make a new Modnation racers game. wait, is it completely shutting down or can you still download tracks?

pody2240d ago

This is what I'm wondering also. There's so much quality maps available online and it would be unfortunate if people couldn't download those anymore.

Teflon022240d ago

Yeah, I didn't play much online anyways. But I always use to play local multi with my cousin and download so many amazing levels. Sadly 8 didn't get to platinum it. Had only the create trophy, level 30 and 100 races i think left. I had I believe 87 last time 8 checked lol. Might go on to see if I can get my last few lol. Remember my win ratio was decent since I did around 160 races maybe, 170 ranked

pody2239d ago

@Teflon02
Yeah same here, but I actually jumped in not too long ago to play again and it's still holds up great for a 8 year old game. It's was a really good game when it came out and it still is.

Chaos_Order2240d ago

I had some good memories playing Modnation. :( Sad to see it go, but it was inevitable.

ModNation Racers: The Forgotten Gem

There were plenty of notably excellent PlayStation 3 exclusives that were one-and-done during its long history. Games like Mag, Starhawk, Heavy Rain and LittleBigPlanet Karting were solid titles that were not given a chance to expand on their potential with sequels. Ironically, the developer of LittleBigPlanet Karting, United Front Games, had another kart racing title prior to this. Its first game, ModNation Racers, successfully implemented an aspect that wasn’t done previously and hasn’t been done since.

I loved this game, and it's a crying shame that the studio closed eliminating the possibility of a PS4/PS4 Pro Modnation game :(

XisThatKid2509d ago (Edited 2509d ago )

Imho this is my fav kart racer. I still play Everhart now and then to this day.
Other than load times the game was excellent

danny8182509d ago

game was great. However it felt soules Mario Kart. The load times on the game for Psvita were beyond horrible

S-Word2509d ago

Sony should've kept going with this instead of turning to LittleBigPlanet Karting.
