FAIL, most, if not all, Obsidian's dev's came from Black Isle (a proprietary of Interplay) who made the original Fallout series, so I guess you could say it was their game originally.

Take out the bugs that plague the Gamebro engine (get a new one)...and I'll bite.

Obsidian can write some pretty good games.

KotOR II was good. (First was miles better)
Neverwinter Nights 2 was alright. (Never played the first)
Alpha Protocol and New Vegas were pretty weak and broken games.

So for every good or alright game, they have a stinker.

This is how I feel about fallout, I know a lot of people like it, and that is fine but to me;

fallout is a waste of elder scrolls resourses, money, advertising, hourly pay to devs who should be working on oblivion expo's and skyrim expos and remaking morrowind using the skyrim engine

Oblivion, demons souls, and starcraft 2 are the best games this gen for me

When I look at elder scrolls, I just think of another fantasy RPG. I've never played it so I cant say it sucks, but it just looks very generic and confusing.

One of the main reasons I love Fallout 3 is because there is no other game like it that does a good job. I'm really into grit and destruction in my games and movies, and I especially like it when its a very eerie scene of survival, and ruin. Its just a very interesting concept for me.

I really didnt like New Vegas tho, because it was just an ugly looking game, with a very weak objective. Once you kill you killer, its like "Now go take over vegas or something? BTW, you can only see what happens to New Vegas through an end game cut scene".

So yeah, I think Obsidian made some shitty games, so I'm not very hopeful for this one, but don't say its a waste of time.

You know what you like...that's good...but to say there is no place for games like Fallout 3 is little much. I thought Fallout was a much tighter experience than the meandering Oblivion.

I'm with you on Demon's Sous though...there hasn't been a game this generation that has captured that experience.

Daggerfall was huge but I hated the cookie cutter dungeons. The layouts were all the same. Fallout was a breath of fresh air. I love the 50s era design.

As far as I know, when Daggerfall came out, there was nothing that came even close to what it did. It was easily the biggest and most free-roaming game I had ever played up to that point. Yes, the towns and dungeons were generic building block randomized set-ups, but it was still amazing for it's time.

Hrmm.... Washington D.C (Fallout 3's setting) was in Virginia, so maybe they're making the whole state for the next Fallout? Having said that, it would seem like an odd move, given that that would mean they have to do The Capital Wasteland all over again.... Just an idea. I'm excited at the thought of Obsidian being at the helm of the next Fallout game with the whole new engine (the same one they're using on TES: Skyrim) to boot, rather than the seriously outdated Gamebryo.

I wish people would give it a break... I mean when the consumerism of the industry is reaching newer heights with each passing year of course some of the products aren't going to live up to the standards... especially for a game like New Vegas... where it was basically announced and then thrown at the masses..

we are the sole reason why the games we play are the way they are... insert positive feedback and patience and the game will be on your side all day..

I used to work at Obsidian, and those guys are awesome. They really love developing games, and they treat their employees better than any of the other video game companies I've worked at in the past.

They are often hamstrung by their publisher, who is often pushing them to release a game at a specific date, even when it needs a few more months polish.

I worked on Neverwinter Nights 2, and even though Obsidian requested more time, Atari, the publisher, forced them to release the game earlier than Obsidian wanted. Not to mention that they also had to split development due to creating the E3 Demo that year. People think that they just take a chunk of the game and say: "Be the demo," and that's that, but demo's have to be coded and tested like any other project. We spent 2 months of dev time that could have been used polishing and testing the retail game, just to have a demo at a 3 day game show.

Anyway, I love the Obsidian guys, and I hope that whatever they are working on next gets the time it needs to be polished. As far as a developer goes, they have a knack for making quality, but flawed RPGs.

In truth, I like Fallout: New Vegas way more than Fallout 3, and I didn't even realize it until the other day, when me and my wife decided to give New Vegas a break and go back to Fallout 3. I never expected to get bored with Fallout 3 like I did. I remember loving it when it came out, but after playing New Vegas, it just feels really slowly paced and boring. New Vegas doesn't keep you from getting out there and getting into action/trouble right away. You have this whole, long section in Fallout 3 where you are a kid, then a teen, then you finally get to escape the Vault and explore the world.

New Vegas has you getting shot in the head at the beginning, then waking up, creating your character by answering some questions, and then you are off.

I still like Fallout 3, but not as much as New Vegas. And that's a surprise, considering how much of a buggy mess New Vegas is, and that it broke my PS3 (we've since moved on to the 360 version of New Vegas, and it runs WAAAY better than the PS3 version, despite a few crashes here and there).

I hope its the Wheel of Time game.I would not mind if it turns out to be AP2,KOTOR3,NWN3,Fallout:someth ing etc.Its bound to be story driven and innovative as is all the obsidian games.Just don't push your limit very hard,that will result in loads of bugs.And give people reasons to cut off marks.With lots of bugs obsidian's games are 80s in metacritic,i wonder what will be the score if they can make a bug free game.
