Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit review (BeefJack.com)

BeefJack: "It’s taken EA six years to prise Criterion away from their beloved Burnout and onto Need for Speed, but it’s more than worth the wait. They’ve smashed the two into one another with glee, wrapping the best elements of both in a joyous explosion of sparks, spikes and spectacular speed. It’s cops and robbers writ large on four wheels, absolutely beautiful throughout, and the mayhem that ensues is a thrill to partake in. The series’ days in the FMV wilderness are dead, buried in the Seacrest desert where we’ll hopefully never see their like again."

... this could have been a nice follow-up to the Burnout series, but with the DLC-scamming going on, there's no way in hell I'd ever pay full-price for this.

Maybe next year when they release a complete version for 20 bucks or something, I might still be interested.

Redempteur4900d ago

yeah it's really a shame espacially coming from a criterion game .

Burnout paradise DLC were very well done and the first 2 packs were free .. 1 year later they added apradise island and it was worth the price ( really )

The same won't happen with this NFS

Cryptech4900d ago

Disagree. This game is sick. You don't have to buy DLC. It's there for the lazies who dont want to earn shit the hard way. You can pick this game up on Black Friday at Best Buy and Kmart for $35. More than worth it at that price. If you skip this game your missing out on a lot of fun!

I HEARD ABOUT THIS DEAL! I MIGHT JUST GO GET IT NOW

crematory4900d ago

mr yi.long
looks like u never ever played or bought NFSHP the dlc is optional for unlock early cars to save time for people who have job and dont feel like repeat the challenges to unlock all the cars .

Yi-Long4900d ago

... the 3rd DLC pack(!) that was released, is not unlockable in the game.

That said, even the 1st two packs are DLC where you pay to unlock stuff you already paid for, so that's pretty much just as crazy.

I am thinking about getting NFS:HP tonight. But with playing GT5 I cant see me playing it much just yet. It has been getting some great review scores so it will be another game to add to my collection.

Looking Back to Two of Need for Speed's Best Games - Most Wanted and Hot Pursuit

Paul writes - "EA know a good thing when they see it, and for multiple years November was Need for Speed month. In a break from the usual routine, I'm going to be looking back at two games here, released in 2005 and 2010 respectively. The earlier game is Need for Speed: Most Wanted, which has the distinction of being one of the very best in the franchise. The second game comes from 2010, and is Need for Speed Hot Pursuit; which I'll talk about just as the Remastered version of the game has hit the stores."

Hotpursuit 2 was good as well.

I completely adore this game! In fact its probably my favorite racing game. I recently dusted off my xbox 360 to play Most Wanted 2005. Still a great game, though I do not remember there being such horrible performance. Like massive frame-pacing issues. screen tearing, latency. If any game ever truly needed to be remastered, it this one for sure!

Uuuu, I loved this one. I want it.

LucasRuinedChildhood1305d ago

No NFS released since Hot Pursuit (2010) has came close. The Ghost Games NFS games were just dreadful (to me they were anyway, 2015 was okay I suppose). Would love to replay this and I hope it has an update for next-gen as well.

DarkZane1305d ago (Edited 1305d ago )

I loved Most Wanted as well (on PS3, I think it released in 2012). After that, it has gone downhill, but the latest games are slowly coming back up. I loved NFS Heat, but it needs to get better before it comes back to same level as NFS Hot Pursuit and Most Wanted.

Then again, NFS Hot Pursuit and Most Wanted were likely better because they were from Criterion (in fact, those were the last 2 games from criterion in nfs series).

LucasRuinedChildhood1305d ago

@DarkZane
complete agree. Most Wanted was good fun as well.

boing11304d ago

Yeah, Criterion has made two best NFS games in my opinion.

georeo1305d ago

Oh yes! They cops vs the drivers online was a blast.

LucasRuinedChildhood1305d ago

Better be 60FPS unlike the original console ports.

Sgt_Slaughter1305d ago

I would be excited but NFS is basically dead in the water at this point, a shell of its former self.
