Amazing Xbox 720 Designs, which one would you want to be real?

Although Microsoft has planned to extend the life of the X360 with Kinect.
I don't expect anything new yet for at least 3 years.

Firstly, dont call it X720. 360 was a stupid name used only so it didnt look weak next to PS3 and 720 is just a stupid name taken to extremes.

Secondly, they all look terrible. Yeah, they're great if you're making an art piece for a Star Trek set but only #10 looks even remotely practical. You're all aware this thing needs to be stuffed with circuitboards and processors right?

A couple of the handhelds do look reasonable. One looks like and Xbox made love to a DS, and the same with a PSP.

I think if you read the article , Peter Dille once said it will all depend what new GPU can hit the market. So I dont think it will be too long before Xbox 3 is announced.

Kinect was meant to extend the life of the 360 and get more casuals on the system and MS has said the 360 will have a 10 year life. At the very least 2012-2013 for the 720 IMO.

Keep it practical, roughly rectangular, and with as small a form factor as reliable hardware allows. The Wii is still the most attractive console this gen thanks to its simple, sleek approach.

Where are the buttons? Assuming that the buttons are in a capacitive touch screen on the two side handle display areas, you would have to have pretty enormous thumbs to be able to reach any buttons anywhere other than the edge closest to the rubberized grip. Also, capacitive touch screens have a slight lag in response time and would be nearly impossible to play FPS or any other reaction-time games on.

And how the hell would you type on that keyboard? I'm assuming you'd have to type with your thumbs, so how the fuck would you hold the thing up? The majority of the weight would be above your thumbs, so every time you moved your thumb to type you'd be wrestling with keeping the console from falling. That design is an epic fail as a gaming console, but MIGHT be a decent media player/casual gaming device if it was given touch screen capability everywhere you see visuals.

Most of those designs are just too unrealistic to actually become reality.

Some of them looks awesome, but are either impractical (the next xbox console a hand held? seriously?) or simply would not look right in under your TV.

When the eventual successor to the 360 is announced, I very much look forward to see what it looks like.

Personally I'd have it look like crap as a trade-off for some serious development of first party studios making first party developed exclusives for the core gamer. Same goes for any console.

I see some people going for looks instead of practicality. You have to think of how well its ventillated as well as how it looks. If its not ventillated properly it will overheat and die.

I just took it a step further which making the controllers part hand held thats a good way to sneak your hand held in the market have different colors wi fi can be used to connect the controllers to the system or connect play while you on the bus have xboxlive while you travel. can't finish a game at home download it into the controller and finish that level while you travel.... Now the idea of making it affordable... that's a different story

I think the PS3 has it right, the PS3 slim that is, matte finish, low profile, blends with the rest of your products on your tv shelf yet has just enough look to it to make you wonder what it is. Go with that next gen, give up these crazy designs they look annoying.

I think ps3 or sony is just a household name that people recognize. You don't have to agree, but the slim looks cheaply made compared to what was originally introduced to the market. What MS has to focus on is a signature thing its product can do that the others can't. It also has to be affordable,
easy to understand and reliable. We are in a time where the separation of consoles aren't too far from each other and there has to be something a system can do that the other can't,

in gaming It's mainly personal preference these images are great ideas, and aren't as bad as most are saying. there are maybe 3 that look bad that big a$$ x, the one that look like a helmet, and the one that looks like a cpu tower are the worst. Pretty much all of these are either recycled from when people we're speculating what the 360 would look like, or concept ideas people have come up with for a xbox handheld. All old, there's no new content here. What a complete non-article.

Many of these screenshots are old as hell. #4 was a (fan made) concept of what the 360 was going to look like before it came out. If you look, it still has the original Xbox logo on it and an original Xbox disc in the tray. #5 has a Halo: Combat Evolved screenshot and white and black buttons, which were also from the original Xbox. #6 and #9 also have original Xbox logos on them. #7 looks like the friggin' old-school Direct X logo that someone slapped into a 3D rendering program.

#1, #3, #5, #6, #8 and #9 are all (fan-made) mock-ups of what a Microsoft Portable gaming system would look like, again some of them dating back to the original Xbox days.

The only two NEW designs I recognize are #2 (ugly as shit and completely impractical) and #10 (clearly a redesign of the 360 with the grill looking a lot like the grill on the top of the current 360).

This article is total crap, next time give me something actually worth paying attention to.
