IGN writes: "While not a hard rule, the majority of iPhone games really need to grab the player within two or three minutes and convince them to keep playing. Steve Young Football lost me. After completing the first set of stages in this weird star-grabbing football minigame, I wanted out. But because I don't necessarily have that luxury – sometimes I have to jump on the grenade for you – I persevered in hopes that this mindless game would get better".
MacWorld - Steve Young was an excellent football player during his career. One of the first real dual-threat quarterbacks, Young could both throw and run—he gave opposing defenses fits. So it’s odd that Steve Young Football, from Vaporware, is not a football game but instead an obstacle avoidance game. Worse yet—it’s not a very good one.
148apps: Steve Young Football! is the most surprisingly bizarre game I’ve possibly ever played. I’ve seen some bizarre games in the App Store, but with the title “Steve Young Football!” I was expecting, you know, football.
TouchGen: The main idea behind the game is quite simple: drag Steve Young to the touchdown. Of course, it is a little bit more complicated than that. You just have one chance of “throwing” him across the screen. Once he passes the yellow line, you can’t control him anymore. Meaning, if you throw him and he doesn’t passes the yellow line then you can throw him again.
