BioWare "Aware" They Need to Provide Introductory Experience For Mass Effect 2 on PS3

PS3T writes: "The biggest and most welcome surprise for PS3 owners at this year's Gamescom was easily the announcement that BioWare's hugely successful Mass Effect 2 title would be heading to PS3."

"Talking with the BioWare doctors at Gamescom this year, Ray Muzyka, BioWare CEO, when asked about whether we could see the original on the platform, told PS3T that they are aware that they need to provide an introductory experience for PS3 owners."

Mass Effect 2 will do fine on the PS3.

Sizzon5415d ago

Yeah, like the first Bioshock :)

AtatakaiSamurai5415d ago (Edited 5415d ago )

the first bioshock didn't sell as good on the PS3, why? cause it was a 1yr old game and PS3 gamers had too many more current exclusives to play.

Second bioshock sold much much better in relation to 360 sales so the lesson? if you want your resources to pay off for making a game multiplat, then release them the same date and day or your game would sell like crap on one of the consoles. stop lying to the public that a game is exclusive when it is not.

This is why I think ME3 will sell way better on the PS3 than ME2 especially if they go back to the gameplay roots of ME1.

I for one won't be able to pick up ME2 in febuary cause I'll still be plowing through socom4, killzone3, motorstorm3, gran turismo5 and many other PSN games too. maybe something in 2012 or just before ME3 comes out and the price is now $14.99 i'll pick it up.

no rush, it's not going anywhere. its on the ps3 forever and i can play it at any time

Bioshock sold like half million on ps3...thats good for something 1 yrs old...either way 2k made profit so whats ur problem?

Philoctetes5415d ago

As Nyc_Gamer noted, Bioshock actually sold okay on the PS3, but let's look a little deeper, shall we?

1. Bioshock was a year-old game listed a full price, with very little in the way of extras to justify the price tag. Yeah, it had the new difficulty level, but that was about it. By contrast, ME2 is probably going to include previously-released DLC. It's more comparable to the Fallout 3 GOTY edition than it is Bioshock.

2. The PS3 Bioshock port was widely panned when it first came out. It got patched and ended up looking great, but the bad publicity was already there. I seriously doubt that BioWare is going to screw up this port.

3. Even if ME2 doesn't sell on the PS3, so what? It's not a multiplayer game, where you need a strong community to make it worthwhile. As long as I get my copy, that's all that matters to me. I don't care if I'm the only person who buys it; it doesn't affect me at all.

4. If ME2 doesn't sell on the PS3, that actually demonstrates the opposite of what Microsoft fanboys seem to think. ME2 is widely considered to be the single best game in the 360 library. If PS3 gamers can't be bothered to play the best game on your platform, what does that tell you about the quality of games available for the PS3 vs. the 360?

a Day 1 buy for me. Bioware seems to know exactly what PS3 owners are looking for.

mantisimo5415d ago

Looks very cool, hope they don't make a mess of the port but being such good devs, I very much doubt it.

They already said they were somehow going to involve back story so we will have to see which way they go.

Bring it on!

NYC_Gamer5415d ago

this series belongs on all 3 platforms...happy EA/Bioware dont believe in 3rd party exclusives

xbox360achievements5415d ago

Totally agree. At the end of the day, the more people that play one of the greatest titles of this generation, the better.

CombatEvolving5415d ago

But you having the game and enjoying it hurts me. /s

darkstar5415d ago

Already played through 3 times, so I will have to pass, but I think its awesome ps3 fans finally get to play it. I was holding out after all the ps3 rumors but for $29 I couldnt pass it up any longer. Great game, great developers.

Chris3995415d ago

and it's a pretty good deal. Especially considering that there's no GOTY version for the 360.

AtatakaiSamurai5415d ago

i read somewhere that they will have dlc content for the ps3 version that won't be on the 360. depending on how meaty it is, i may just get the game sooner rather in 2011 than later in 2012

Weaksauce11385415d ago

But it's going to be $60 when the 360 version is like $30 right now so that DLC won't be free. Maybe 4 months later in May it will hit price parity and be the better value.

Bro missing companions: Legion, Grunt, Samara/Morinth, Javik, EDI

anast199d ago

Legion, Zaeed, and Jack are my favorites.

RiseNShine199d ago

To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

anast199d ago

They lost too much talent.

IAMRealHooman198d ago

some in andromeda are decent, I agree with peebee and Vetra being good companions. Except Liam he's trash tier

anast198d ago

Liam lol I can't stand that dude.

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

DustMan447d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave446d ago (Edited 446d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
