CSM: As a video game, The Cages: Pro Style Batting Practice isn’t a very entertaining title. Most baseball games include a home run derby as a single mini-game, but this game's entire shtick is batting.
The Cages: Pro Style Batting Practice seems like one of those titles that the Wii was made for. Using the ultra-precise Wii MotionPlus, you can track exactly how you swing the bat, and the game would coach you on how to improve your swing, until you're ready to knock homer after homer out of the park. The Cages nails half of this formula perfectly; unfortunately, it's the wrong half. Rather than hitting a home run, Konami strikes out.
Konami goes to bat with a swinging simulation for Wii. But can it nail it out of the park?
It's billed as a true-to-life baseball hitting game. What it proves to be is a lesson in patience and timing.
