JupiterResearch said that competition will remain "fierce as ever" in the next five years. The firm believes that market share during this console cycle will be more evenly split than past generations.
According to the JupiterResearch, the market share for Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft will be within 10 percent of each other at the anticipated end of the current console cycle in 2012. This is compared to the 33 percent range at the end of the previous cycle in 2005.
